From Piqua, Ohio, the daughter of beloved high school teacher Larry Hamilton.
Actress and writer Erika Hamilton graduated from Piqua High School in 1997. After earning her BA in Communications at the University of Cincinnati, she leveraged her degree into a job as the local Sports Reporter covering the Bengals and Reds professional teams.
A competitive gymnast and dancer by training, Erika left Ohio and reported to Philadelphia as a member of the 76ers Dance Team.
She spent the next three years with the New York Knicks City Dancers, widely recognized as a pinnacle stage for dancers. It was under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden that Erika was discovered and prominently featured in the first generation Apple iPod ads opposite Bob Dylan.
Her charm and sly comedy found her an early role opposite LL Cool J, who, in the spot, is too shy and awkward to approach her. She appeared in 11 nationally aired TV ad campaigns for clients as wide-ranging as Facebook, Nike, Volvo, Under Armor, Cisco, Old Spice, and Jose Cuervo.
Now, in Hollywood, Erika is writing and producing films that better represent her unique worldview. She recently wrapped up a successful festival tour with her short film Out of Tune. Next was a personal slice-of-life drama called Belief. It's a tribute to motherhood and community, focusing on one black mom's unwavering belief in her son after their local school has let them down. Written and directed by her husband, Christian Loubek, it stars Erika and the acting debut of her two kids, Charley & Baer.
