Exclusive: Fluke Studios has wrapped production on a prison break thriller, Bosco, which is based on a true story.

Leading the cast are Aubrey Joseph (Cloak & Dagger), Theo Rossi (True Story), Thomas Jane (Troppo), Tyrese Gibson (Fast And Furious franchise), and Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill) alongside Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray) and Jim O’Heir.

DC Young Fly, Brandon Rogers, Tory Lanez, and John Lewis round out the cast on the movie, which was written and directed by Nicholas Manuel Pino.

The pic tells the story of Quawntay “Bosco” Adams (Joseph). Exclusive: Gvn Releasing has acquired writer-director Matthew Berkowitz’s A Violent Man, a murder mystery drama set in the world of mixed martial arts that stars former NFL running back Thomas Q. Jones. The distributor will release the film day and date in theaters and VOD on January 18, 2019.

Isaach De Bankole, Mma icon Chuck Liddell, Denise Richards and Bruce Davison also star in the pic, which has elements of a contemporary noir. Jones (Luke Cage), the former NFL Pro Bowler who rushed for more than 10,000 career yards in 12 seasons, plays Ty, an unknown Mma fighter who beats the undefeated champ at a local gym. Overnight he becomes the underdog champion of the world with a title fight on the horizon, but when the female reporter covering the story is found dead, Ty becomes the murder suspect. A blackout, a dead body, and incriminating circumstances put him in the middle of a mystery.

British director Tony Kaye has come on board to helm the independent crime drama “Honorable Men,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The film is being produced by Life Entertainment with producers Sam Khoze, Justin Steele, and Patrick McErlean along with the Film House and producer Ryan R. Johnson.

Kaye’s directing credits include “American History X,” “Black Water Transit,” and “Detachment.” He did not approve of the final cut of “American History X” and tried unsuccessfully to have his name removed as director of the movie, for which Edward Norton received an Oscar nomination.

Corey Feldman is returning to his Lost Boys roots in the new thriller Corbin Nash. Only this time he's trading in Edgar Frog's iconic red headband to play the opposite side of the fight, starring as a cross-dressing vampire. Ben Jagger is directing the film, which also recently added cult icon and genre vet Malcolm McDowell.

Corbin Nash is described as a vampire noir. It follows a New York City cop who's trying to hunt down his parents' murderers. The search leads him to Los Angeles, where he meets his untimely demise. He is brought back to life as a deadly killer. Malcolm McDowell is set to play a character named The Blind Prophet, though no further details have been released.

Also joining this epic cult movie in the making is genre favorite Rutger Hauer, playing a character who is only described as 'a mysterious stranger'. Bruce Davison will play Corbin Nash's stepfather.

Los Angeles-based Archstone Distribution has acquired international rights to the crime thriller Gutshot Straight.

Justin Steele directed the film starring Vinnie Jones (pictured), Stephen Lang, Steven Seagal, George Eads, AnnaLynne McCord, Ted Levine and Tia Carrere.

Gutshot Straight tells of a poker player who becomes embroiled in a murder plot after he encounters a mysterious gambler.

“We are excited and honoured to be working with the producers of Gutshot Straight,” said Archstone Distribution founding partner Scott Martin.

“It is a well-made film with a strong cast and we look forward to offering it at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.”

Yesterday we posted our interview with Debbon Ayer, who plays the mother in the forthcoming Death And Cremation. Today we have another interview, this time with Jeremy Sumpter who plays her son Jarod in the film. His character forms a bond with Stan (Brad Dourif) which is central to the film.

Last week, a reader named Daniel emailed me about a rather crazy trailer on Apple for an interesting indie film called Death and Cremation. In the interests of full disclosure I will admit up front that I am a pretty big fan of Brad Dourif and love his performances in otherwise terrible films.

In addition to some questionable film choices, Dourif has recently done solid work in a number of Werner Herzog films and is probably still picking up pay checks for supplying the voice of Chucky in the Childs Play films.

He recently had a small part in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans and even managed to stand out there, against the wild eyed crazed performance by Nicholas Cage.

Justin Steele’s first full length feature looks pretty sweet but admittedly, it’s the fact that Dourif leads this pack of actors that really has me excited to see it. Dourif stars as Stan, a 59 year old man living in a suburb and making his living by providing cremation services from his basement (like that's not creepy enough). Needing a little extra help, Stan hires Jarod (Jeremy Sumpter) an outcast teen from the local high school to help out with the cremations but there’s a little more going on than the burning of dead bodies and when a string of missing persons leads a detective (Scott Elrod) to come sniffing around, things start to unravel.

Seeing a rather distraught Brad Dourif coming up the steps towards you with a baseball bat resting comfortably on his shoulder isn’t the most soothing of images. It does, though, make a damn fine beginning to a trailer for a film called Death And Cremation.

Is there anyone creepier than Brad Dourif these days? Don't say Crispin Glover -- I said creepy, not bugfuck crazy. Dourif, known to most folks these days as Grima Wormtongue in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and as Doc Cochran in "Deadwood," is a fascinating, if inconsistent actor.
