Brad Pitt's F1 Praised for Racing Accuracy as It Debuts With Thrilling Score
Image
Brad Pitt's new sports drama, F1, is not the first film to try to bring the adrenaline-pumping environment of racing to the big screen. However, it looks like it's the first one to get it right.

The new sports drama has Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski at the helm, with a script by Ehren Kruger. Kosinski has previously proven his skills with the billion-dollar Top Gun sequel and other exciting action films, and he delivers again with the racing drama, which was filmed and produced with the involvement of Fia, the Formula 1 governing body, as well as several racing drivers like seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Ahead of its worldwide release on June 27, F1 debuted with a thrilling 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

F1 follows Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who had a horrible crash that forced him to retire, failing to reach his potential. However,...

F1: The Movie First Reactions From Formula 1 Drivers Praise The On-Track Action But Bemoan Hollywoodization
Image
As we first reported on ActioNewz.com, a screening of F1: The Movie was held in Monaco earlier this week, and nearly the entire grid of Formula 1 drivers was in attendance.

4-time World Champion Max Verstappen was one of only two who didn't show up, though that came as no surprise to fans; not only did he decline to appear in scenes with Brad Pitt, but he's been critical of the way the sport has been overdramatised through projects like this and Netflix's Drive to Survive.

However, while he was busy streaming, many of his contemporaries did sit down to watch F1: The Movie, and their responses...well, they may be telling. Remember, Formula 1 has taken an active role in producing the film, so the best way we can explain that is by saying this is like asking a current member of the Avengers cast what they...

We Need to Talk About Red Bull: Daniel Ricciardo’s Curse, and Why ‘Drive to Survive’ Season 8 Can’t Ignore Horner’s Failing Empire
Image
Red Bull has been at the top of the Formula 1 game for about half a decade. The Milton Keynes-based outfit has brought in four successive world championships with Max Verstappen at the helm. To some, the Dutch racer seems to be hogging all the attention. To others, it is simply Verstappen’s skill as the best driver of his generation on full display.

However, as Formula One enters the 2025 season, the car is simply not performing the way it should, considering its championship-winning turnout for the past 4 years. For Drive to Survive, the barest hint about Red Bull’s underwhelming performance is enough to spark dramatic ideas. One of those might have to do with the Daniel Ricciardo curse and the aftermath of his exit.

Image
Drive to Survive has seen it all – from crashes to scandals and rivalries to near-death experiences. Meanwhile, the Netflix series itself has had its fair share of controversies to sort through, considering its tendency to create more drama than what the situation warrants. However, this time around, it seems simple drama did not cut it for Netflix.

The production company and creative minds behind the hyper-adrenaline drama have confronted countless allegations of fabrication and manipulation of details that are minute in comparison but cause much harm to a driver’s reputation. Drive to Survive may have taken some fairly risky steps in the past, but this Season 7 episode surpasses them all.

Revving into theaters on June 27, 2025, “F1” features Brad Pitt as retired Formula One driver Sonny Hayes, whose exit from the sport came as a result of a horrific crash. Brought back to train and drive alongside a rookie prodigy (Damson Idris) by his friend and Apex Grand Prix team owner (Javier Bardem), Hayes doesn’t merely want to return to the sport, but upend it entirely.

“F1” comes from much of the same team behind the 2022 Tom Cruise hit “Top Gun: Maverick,” including director Joseph Kosinski, screenwriter Ehren Kruger, composer Hans Zimmer, cinematographer Claudio Miranda, and producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman. Pitt also serves as a producer alongside his Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Adding a note of authenticity to the production, real-life Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is also involved as a producer.
