We probably don’t need to tell you that 2024 was a banner year for Jake Paul.

After months of hype, Jake stepped into the ring with Mike Tyson for what might’ve been the biggest event in Netflix history.

The fight itself wasn’t much to write home about — the combatants mostly just danced around each other, and technical issues interrupted the stream for millions of viewers — but both Paul and Tyson were handsomely rewarded for their efforts.

When Netflix revealed it was moving into live boxing earlier this year with a fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, it didn’t realize it was going to take so long.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place on July 20 but was postponed until November as a result of an ulcer issue from former heavyweight champion Tyson.

The move, however, means more time to follow the pair for a docuseries leading up to the event.

The streamer has unveiled it will air Countdown: Paul Vs. Tyson, a three-part follow-doc on November 7, ahead of the fight airing live on Friday November 15 at 8pm Et. The first two episodes will air that night followed by the third episode on November 12.

Netflix’s move into live sports continues. The streamer is weighing in to the boxing arena with a fight between heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and upstart Jake Paul.

The streamer will air the fight, which takes place at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday July 20.

It is the company’s latest foray into the live sports field, which launched with golf tournament The Netflix Cup and continued with tennis tournament The Netflix Slam, featuring a match between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, earlier this month.

After a pre-fight press conference on Thursday ended with punches thrown between entourages, Jake Paul and former UFC lightweight fighter Nate Diaz will finish what was started in this weekend’s pay-per-view boxing match.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has inked a deal with Showtime Sports -- the same network that is set to air next month’s matchup between Jake’s brother, Logan, and Floyd Mayweather.

The multi-fight deal will call for Jake’s next fight to be distributed by Showtime Sports, ESPN reports, citing Paul’s adviser Nakisa Bidarian and a network source. Talks are still ongoing about potential opponents, date, and location. Paul boasts a 3-0 professional record but has yet to fight anyone with professional boxing experience, ESPN notes -- though he has called out Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz on social media.

Dwayne Johnson is stepping into the octagon, coming aboard to produce and star in Smashing Machine, a dramatic movie about the life of two-time Ufc champion Mark Kerr.

Johnson, himself a former pro wrestler, made the announcement at Madison Square Garden on Friday during the weigh-in for this weekend’s Ufc 244 card, on which Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz is the main event.

The pic, which is in the early stages of development with no studio attached, will be produced by Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions and Seven Bucks’ Hiram Garcia. Their longtime collaborator Beau Flynn is producing on behalf of Flynn Picture Co.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has found his next role to add to his extremely busy slate. The pro-wrestler-turned-Hollywood-multi-hyphenate will star as MMA fighter and UFC champ Mark Kerr.

The project marks Johnson’s first true dramatic role in his career, which has been full of successful comedies, family fare and action flicks.

Johnson will produce through his production company, Seven Bucks Productions with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, and frequent collaborator Beau Flynn. The project is in early development, and no studio is attached yet.
