In the first film, while escorting Emperor Wu's concubine Chen Yuan Yuan to safety, the Ching Ping Escort Group was attacked, and Yang Liu An, their commander, was the only surviver. The first fight scene in Ip Man is one of the most important of the entire Ip Man series. One of the most legendary kung fu masters in history, Ip Man is the subject of the eponymous martial arts movie series and many other films and TV series. In his role as Ip Man, Donnie Yen showcased the art of Wing Chun kung fu in many stupendous action scenes, the series also progressively venturing more into Ip Man's relationship with his most famous pupil, Bruce Lee.

The very first fight scene of the Ip Man martial arts movie series is a sparring match between the Wing Chun master and Master Liu (Chen Zhihui), which Ip Man easily wins. Yes, there are 10 now, with the latest one introducing the Young Ip Man, in a desperate effort to continue the franchise. Despite its evident downward spiral, though, the Ip Man series has presented a number of martial arts masterpieces through the years, which highlighted the prowess of individuals like Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Wilson Yip and Yuen Woo Ping among others. Also of interest was the path Wong Kar Wai and Herman Yau took the life of Bruce Lee’s teacher, resulting in more artistic entries, while the inclusion of individuals like Mike Tyson, can only be perceived as a treat.
