99 Best Movies & TV Shows You Must See On Disney+ UK In July 2025
Image
[Editor's Note: This article is reviewed and updated on a weekly basis.]

It's been five whole years since Disney+ arrived in the UK, changing the streaming game almost overnight and making the daily struggle to choose what to watch next that bit harder. (We know — poor us!) Armed with the Infinity Gauntlet of IP — Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, and Fox — and an ever-growing catalogue of offerings pooled from elsewhere, the House of Mouse has created a veritable content utopia where there truly is something for everyone. How many other platforms do you know where you can observe the mechanics of fascism and the cost of revolution through the lens of Star Wars (Andor), cross the Polynesian horizon with a demigod (Moana 2), see Timmy C rock out as a rebel youth Bob Dylan (A Complete Unknown), and see Vikings go toe-to-toe with the Predator (Predator: Killer Of Killers) all without having to switch streamers?

When faced with a platform where you...

‘Predator: Killer of Killers’ Review: A Violent and Visually Stunning Animated Anthology Film
Image
This year, 20th Century Studios gives us not one but two Predator movies, beginning with the animated anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers co-directed by Prey’s Dan Trachtenberg and Joshua Wassung. The latter marks his feature-length directorial debut after cutting his teeth making a short film and handling visualizations for movies like Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and It: Chapter Two.

The anthology film covers three stories in different timelines, tracing way back to the Viking era in 841 Ad subtitled The Shield as we are introduced to an angry, middle-aged Norse warrior queen Ursa (voiced by Lindsay Lavanchy). She’s on the quest for vengeance to take down her enemy but her mission is somehow interrupted after a Predator appears, forcing her to re-direct her attention to the otherworldly invader. This leads to a bloody fight against the more advanced Predator while trying her best to protect her son, Anders (Damien Haas...

‘Predator: Killer of Killers' Slays a Franchise Record on Rotten Tomatoes
Image
The latest and sixth film in the legendary Predator franchise is already a favorite among critics, right in time for its streaming release. Predator: Killer of Killers is set to debut nationwide on Hulu on Friday, June 6, 2025, and internationally on Disney+. And as of this writing, the sci-fi sequel has earned a near-perfect score of 98%on Rotten Tomatoes based on 41 reviews, making history for the franchise as the highest of all the installments, including crossover movies.

Co-directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who previously directed the fifth Predator movie, Prey, and is behind the upcoming Badlands, Predator: Killer of Killers is a riveting anthology that follows "three of the fiercest warriors in human history.” These warriors, according to the film’s synopsis, are a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession,...

Image
The new animated movie Predator: Killer of Killers is out now on Hulu, marking the triumphant return of Prey director Dan Trachtenberg to the franchise. Killer of Killers is wildly original for a Predator movie, breaking from the series' usual formula to deliver an epic experience. This movie primarily takes place in three different eras: the Viking age, feudal Japan, and World War II-era Europe. Each part of the anthology film sees a different group of humanity's deadliest killers face off against the Predator, with very bloody results.

If you've just watched Predator: Killer of Killers, first, take a deep breath. Hell of a movie, right? Now, you might be curious about who plays all the characters from the film, especially if you recognized one or two of its more well-known voice cast members. We've got you covered.

Predator: Killer of Killers Review: This animated anthology is the best sequel in the franchise
Image
Plot: The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.

Review: In 2022, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg reinvigorated the Predator franchise with the 18th-century-set Prey. By shifting the setting and protagonists away from a contemporary or future setting focused on the military, Prey focused on the alien race of predators and boosted the franchise in a new direction. With Trachtenberg’s next film, Predator: Badlands, hitting the big screen in November, his secret animated project,...

Predator: Killer Of Killers Review: The Franchise Goes Animated To Spectacular Results
Image
Dare I suggest that studios tend to overthink franchises these days? With all due respect to the "Predator" movies -- which I happen to enjoy more often than not, thank you very much -- it's not exactly the most difficult concept to grasp. You gather a bunch of overmatched human characters in an interesting setting, throw a hyper-violent Yautja or two into the mix, and sit back and watch the carnage unfold. It's as simple and straightforward a premise as it gets, standing firm against the typical studio thought process of making things unnecessarily convoluted with each and every installment. That's not to say it's always worked out that way in practice, of course. After "Predator 2" took the action from Central American to the concrete jungle of Los Angeles to mixed results, the one-two punch of "Predators" and especially "The Predator" in the 2010s mostly just helped define the limitations of this material.

One Piece's Emily Rudd Becomes Anime Voice Actor for Delicious in Dungeon
Image
Netflix's One Piece live-action star Emily Rudd now stars in one of the Winter 2024 anime season's most anticipated shows, Delicious in Dungeon, also being released on the same streaming platform.

Fans had another reason to be excited before and during Studio Trigger's Delicious in Dungeon premiere, with Rudd voicing one of the series' primary protagonists. Released last week, Rudd plays the logical yet erratic elf, Marcille, who objects at every turn to eating food from the dungeon -- before realizing there's a feast to be had with the right party. Marcille is joined by the expert chef, Senshi (played by SungWon Cho) and surrounded by party members Laios and Chilchuck, played by Damien Haas and Casey Mongillo, respectively. Rudd teased her casting before the show's premiere, but many picked up the familiar voice as the debut episode aired.

Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox just bought Smosh
Image
Anthony Padilla is reuniting with Smosh–and he, along with Smosh co-founder Ian Hecox, are buying the digital comedy brand from Rhett & Link.

Padilla and Hecox met in sixth grade and were still best friends when they first launched Smosh on YouTube in 2005. Together they amassed dozens of cast and crew members, millions of subscribers, and became one of the most recognizable creator-led media companies in online video.

But then, in 2017, Padilla left. He cited creative differences, but it was clear there was also a rift between him and Hecox.

“By the time Anthony left Smosh, our friendship was not really that good,” Hecox told Variety. Last year, the duo got back in touch, and “really hit it off,” he added. “It’s kind of freaky how well this has all fallen into place. Our friendship had to end to be able to come back together.”

Padilla and Hecox...

Disney Channel Stars Debby Ryan, Alyson Stoner, Matthew Scott Montgomery and More to Star in LGBTQ Horror Film (Exclusive)
Image
A veritable army of Disney Channel stars are reuniting for a very un-Disney project.

Matthew Scott Montgomery (“So Random!”), Debby Ryan, Alyson Stoner, Kevin Chamberlin (“Jessie”), Tim Bagley, Shayne Topp (“So Random!”) and Damien Haas (“So Random!”) have all signed on to appear in an upcoming LGBTQ+ horror thriller directed by Allisyn Snyder.

Titled “Howdy, Neighbor!,” the upcoming film is written by Montgomery, and is formatted as a “screenlife” film, with all of the footage occurring on computer screens. Montgomery stars as Benjamin, a young queer millenial actor living in West Hollywood who was once a famous child actor. When a new neighbor Chase (Grant Jordan) moves across the hall and reveals himself as a fan, Benjamin begins investigating the oddly familiar man with his best friend Harley (Ryan). Aside from the former Disney Channel stars, the supporting cast also includes Sterling Sulieman, Adam Faison, Greer Grammer and Kimmy Shields.

Grimmfest May Madness: ‘To Your Last Death’ Review
Image
Stars: Morena Baccarin, William Shatner, Ray Wise, Bill Moseley, Damien C. Haas, Dani Lennon, Benjamin Siemon, Florence Hartigan, Austin Bitikofer | Written by Jim Cirile, Tanya C. Klein | Directed by Jason Axinn

[Note: With the film screening as part of this months Grimmfest May madness event, here’s a reposting of our review of To The Last Death from it’s US release last year]

Part Archer, part animated digital “motion” comic, the art style of To Your Last Death makes it feel like you’re watching a page of the old Tales From the Crypt come to life in animated form. Though in terms of story To Your Last Death has a lot more in common with the morality plays of British comic strips like The Thirteenth Floor…

After emerging as the sole survivor in a deadly revenge game set up by her dying father to punish his four children, Miriam receives an offer from the Gamemaster, an otherworldly supernatural entity, to go back in time and try again. But the Game master only entraps hapless humans into diabolical conflicts for her species to gamble on the outcome.

New Trailer for Twisted Animated Horror Movie 'To Your Last Death'
"Hell is empty... And the devils are here." Quiver Distribution has unveiled a full-length official trailer for an animated horror-thriller film titled To Your Last Death. It's not that often we ever see any animated horror projects, and it's exciting to watch the animation medium serve up all kinds of different stories. This trippy high concept horror is about a woman named Miriam. In order to save her siblings, she takes on her father and the powerful entity known as "Gamemaster", who ensnares humans into diabolical plots while her species gambles on the outcome. Well that sounds crazy! Dani Lennon voices Miriam, and Morena Baccarin voices the Gamemaster, plus a cast including Ray Wise, Bill Moseley, Florence Hartigan, Damien C. Haas, and William Shatner. The clunky animation style borrows mostly from FX's "Archer", with less character animation and more vivid visuals. I'm not too sure this will good, but it is worth a watch.

'James Bond' Fan Film from 'Power Rangers' Bootleg Producer
Adi Shankar
One week ago today, producer Adi Shankar released the latest entry in his Bootleg Universe short film collection, Power/Rangers, which ended up being ensnared in legal complications and was removed for a short period of time, before returning online over the weekend. Today, Adi Shankar keeps his Bootleg Universe going by tackling the James Bond franchise with his new fan film In Service of Nothing. The short is actually presented as an animated pre-visualization for a live-action movie, set in the present day but following Sean Connery's 007, with Christopher Gee voicing/impersonating Bond, decades after he retired and MI6 forgave his transgressions. Here's how the short is described on Adi Shankar's YouTube page.

"In this Unauthorized "Bootleg Universe" One-Shot, an aging James Bond struggles to find his place in a self absorbed world without boarders, where service to one's nation is an antiquated concept. Presented to you as a pre-visulation motion storyboard.
