Image
Starz will submit six cast members from Outlander for Emmy consideration, Gold Derby has learned.

Caitriona Balfe will be submitted in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category, while Sam Heughan will compete for Lead Actor.

In the supporting categories, Sophie Skelton is being submitted for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. John Bell, David Berry, and Richard Rankin will each be submitted for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

The Emmy campaign comes as the long-running fantasy romance series approaches its conclusion. Premiering in 2014, Outlander has spanned multiple time periods as it follows the sweeping love story between World War II nurse Claire Randall (Balfe) and 18th-century Highlander Jamie Fraser (Heughan), adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novels.

In January 2023, Starz confirmed that the eighth season will be the show's last.

"For nearly a decade, Outlander has won the hearts of audiences worldwide, and we're pleased to bring...

‘Outlander’ Season 7 Episode 16 Recap: “A Hundred Thousand Angels” Finale
Image

We’re about to sink into a mini-droughtlander with the arrival of Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 16, the season finale. We’re labeling it “mini” because fans of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander world only have to wait until this summer for the arrival of the prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” begins with Jane (Silvia Presente) being questioned about the murder of Captain Harkness. She jokes that the devil was whispering in her ear and argues that unlike his description of the murder as “abdominal,” she believes it was glorious. Her face has a look of defiance as she admits she has no regrets.

Jane refuses to tell her inquisitor her story until he brings up her sister. He suggests it’s better that Fanny reads a story told by Jane rather than himself.

Is This New (and Already Beloved) Couple in 'Outlander' Endgame?
Image
The success of the Starz historical fantasy series Outlander is predominantly connected to the captivating depiction of the relationship between the two main characters, Jamie and Claire, and the rest of the characters are all somehow connected to them. While each and every single one of them brings something exciting to the table, there is one specific character who has been getting much more screen time in Outlander Season 7, and we are here for it.

William Ransom, raised by Lord John but actually the biological son of Jamie, is not the young boy who we saw joking around with Jamie when he was still working as a groom for the Dunsany family at Helwater. Their paths crossed various times, but when William finally learned the truth, his life was turned upside down. At least he met someone through his hardship, but is this couple in Outlander endgame?

Outlander author breaks down book-to-show differences in latest episode
Image
Battle was joined the latest episode of Outlander, "Written in My Own's Heart's Blood," specifically the Battle of Monmouth, a Revolutionary War battle that place on June 28, 1778 in New Jersey. And not everyone escaped unscathed. At the end, once Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and his men had helped repel the British, Jamie's wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) was shot while she attended to dying men.

Jamie has crossed heaven and earth to help his wife before, and he's determined to do it again. Diana Gabaldon, the author of the Outlander books, talked to Parade about the TV version of events different from her novel; naturally, the events of this episode are adapted directly from the book Written In My Own Heart's Blood.

“Well, here (again) we run into the limitations of TV—time, in this case,” Gabaldon said. “In the book version, we get to see both Jamie’s and Claire’s Pov’s,...

Outlander Season 7, Episode 15 Review: The Penultimate Episode's Impressive Reveal Left Me Speechless (& More Excited Than Ever)
Image
Warning: This review contains spoilers for Outlander Season 7, Episode 15

Outlander season 7, episode 15, "Written In My Own Heart's Blood," delivers on the fast-paced promise of season 7 and races forward without giving us a moment to catch our breath. The episode shares its title with Diana Gabaldon's eighth book in the Outlander series, and by the final moments of the story, the meaning becomes all too clear. Outlander season 7, episode 14 paved the way for the Battle of Monmouth, which takes center stage in episode 15, pushing the characters to their limits and providing enough excitement to last a lifetime.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

'Outlander' Season 7 Part 2 Needs to Drop the Filler Episodes
Image
It’s hard to believe, but it has been almost three decades since Diana Gabaldon published the first book of her extremely successful historical fantasy novel series, Outlander. Captivating readers with her story of the English WWII nurse, Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), who is transported back in time to 1743, where she meets the Scottish solider, James Fraser (Sam Heughan). Claire’s encounter with Jamie and his clan is far from comfortable, at first, but what follows is an intense love story that goes beyond the borders of time.

In 2014, the first season of Outlander aired on Starz, and due to its success, the series already has seven seasons. The long-running TV show is perfection in many ways, which is why it is hard to believe that something about it isn’t perfect. Even though Outlander is one of the most beloved historical fantasy series ever, it doesn’t mean that it can do no wrong.

[Warning: The below and video above contain Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7 Episode 15, “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.”] Outlander‘s leading lady Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) finds herself in a precarious position by the end of Season 7’s penultimate episode, “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood,” after she is shot during the most recent battle. Her only hope is Quaker doctor Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips) who has become a part of the extended Fraser family since his sister Rachel’s (Izzy Meikle-Small) marriage to Claire’s nephew, Ian (John Bell). As the episode opens, Claire worries about her husband’s safety as Jamie (Sam Heughan) heads out to lead soldiers on the battlefield, but he promises her he’ll return safely, unaware she’ll end up being the one at risk. Before Claire’s fateful encounter with a bullet though, she assists with caring for the wounded, providing expert medical care that isn’t appreciated by the...

Why This 'Outlander' Episode Is One of the Most Controversial Yet
Image
You would think that watching six seasons of Outlander would prepare you for the rollercoaster that is the hit series’ Season 7. Well, it's inevitable to break the illusion, because this new season following Jamie and Claire’s life also brings some of our favorite characters lives into really, really difficult situations. While each of Outlander’s new episodes that has aired on Starz so far is tough for the nerves in some way, there is one episode which is simply baffling. Outlander’s Episode 12 of Season 7, “Carnal Knowledge," is easily the most controversial episode yet, and here is why.

Outlander Season 7, Episode 14 Review: William Gets His Time In The Spotlight & Quickly Becomes My Favorite Character This Season
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Outlander Season 7, Episode 14

Outlander season 7, episode 14, "Ye Dinna Get Used To It," has officially set almost all the characters on their ultimate paths for the rest of the season. With only two episodes left, season 7 has a lot of tension to resolve before the season finale, but the interweaving threads of the stories are converging. While Outlander season 7, episode 13, was a bit slower than some of the action-oriented installments of the season, "Ye Dinna Get Used To It" has brought back the heightened drama and fast pace, setting up a strong conclusion.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

William Ransom Has Gone Off the Rails in 'Outlander' Season 7
Image
Wondering why it has been feeling like your birthday once a week ever since November 22? Well, it is because the best historical drama series has finally returned. The talk is, of course, about Outlander, and it is currently airing weekly on Starz. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel series of the same name, it follows Jamie and Claire Fraser, whose love knows no boundaries, not even the ones set by time.

As Jamie and Claire, and their loved ones constantly have to face some sort of obstacle, Season 7 of Outlander certainly takes it even further and drops some massive bombshells on our beloved characters. One specific character has become increasingly important, and Episode 12 of the new Outlander season follows him along as he tries to deal (or not deal) with a life-changing piece of information.

Why 'Outlander' Needs a Lord John Grey Spin-Off
Image
Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) tumultuous love story has been nothing short of exhilarating to watch. With Season 7 of Outlander currently airing weekly on Starz, and Outlander Season 8 confirmed as its final run, fans of the show still have some time left to spend with their beloved characters. There are only a handful of long-running TV shows which excite viewers so much that they would love to see a spinoff including some of their favorite characters.

This extremely successful series is not only special due to its long run, but it is also one of those widely-loved series which will have a spinoff. Outlander: Blood of my Blood is set to explore the lives of Jamie and Claire’s parents in more detail. The excitement for this new approach is certainly there, but since the release of Outlander’s seventh season, one specific Outlander character has fans demanding a spinoff,...

Outlander Season 7, Episode 13 Review: Roger & Bree's Arc Is Still Weak, But At Least We've Got More Exciting Stories To Focus On
Image
Outlander season 7's episode 13, "Hello, Goodbye," packs on the nostalgia from the earliest seasons of the show and continues the trend of father-son relationships driving the plot forward. After Outlander season 7, episode 12, there are plenty of questions still left about the fate of Lord John and William after being estranged from Jamie in the wake of his presumed death and reappearance. However, "Hello, Goodbye" provides some touching parallels throughout the episode. As families are reunited, they're simultaneously torn apart elsewhere, and lovers old and new learn from each other.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

Outlander season 7 episode 13 resolves some storylines while creating new questions (Review)
Image
Gosh, this second half of Outlander season 7 is going by so fast! I of course love it when there's new episodes to watch. But that does put us closer to a Droughtlander. And this time it's extra bittersweet because we know season 8 is the final season. But, let's not dwell on those feelings just yet and focus on this week's episode. Here's our review of season 7 episode 13, "Hello, Goodbye" on Starz. I'm a show-only fan so my views reflect that. Spoilers Below.

Courtesy: Starz

Let's start with Brianna because she was just a total badass and activated full mama bear mode in this episode, and I'm all here for it. We know this family is smart, but the Frasers and MacKenzies all proved just how truly clever they are. Bree locks up Rob Cameron and wants answers, but he isn't being helpful. Because of course he isn't, that sleaze.

‘Inside Outlander’ Aftershow: John Bell & Izzy Meikle-Small on Ian & Rachel’s Unique Wedding (Video)
Image
[Warning: The below and video above contain Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7, Episode 13, “Hello, Goodbye.”] Outlander‘s latest episode made way for another wedding as Ian (John Bell) and Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) made the leap together in “Hello, Goodbye.” It was a family affair as Ian’s aunt and uncle Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) helped host the event in Philadelphia, where Rachel’s brother Denzell (Joey Phillips) managed to arrive just in time for the nuptials. Holding a Quaker ceremony, the event wasn’t like other weddings viewers have seen on the show as participants and onlookers waited for the spirit to move them to speak. While Jamie and Claire’s whispering leads to a metaphorical spotlight being shined on Jamie to speak, it is Denzell who steps in next to confess he didn’t imagine his sister going down this path, suggesting if he hadn’t led her into dangerous war zones, then perhaps she wouldn...

Outlander Season 7, Episode 13 review: Wedding bells are ringing for Young Ian!
Image
Every episode in this season of Outlander thus far has left us on the edge of our seats for one reason or another. Whether it was wondering if Jamie (Sam Heughan) has died in a shipwreck or wondering if Lord John Grey (David Berry) had died from a gunshot, there has been so much going on.

The creators and executive producers of the series had been alluding to a very emotional journey ahead, and they were not wrong. There has been so much action and drama, and this week's episode continues to pack the punches in.

We have a lot to discuss, so let's not waste a single second and get right into the chaos of "Hello, Goodbye."

The past meets the present, er the present meets the past?

Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) and Roger (Richard Rankin) open up the episode this week as they continue their search to potentially find Roger's father.

Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 13 begins on a happy note with the Frasers preparing for Ian and Rachel’s wedding. Rollo naps by the fire as Jamie (Sam Heughan) says he’s happy he rose from the dead in time to attend the wedding. Jamie knows Ian’s dad would be happy for his son, while Ian (John Bell) just hopes Jamie’s letter reaches Denzell in time for him to make it to the wedding.

Ian’s not nervous about his impending marriage but is nervous for Rachel since she’s a virgin. Jamie confesses he was a virgin on his wedding night, and no one gave him good advice except Claire. She told him, “Go slowly. Pay attention.” Jamie jokes that Claire wasn’t gentle with him, but the advice to be patient is still worth following.

Outlander star breaks down William's "unforgivable" behavior in latest episode
Image
On the latest episode of Outlander, William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart) has a bit of a meltdown that begins when he finds out that he's actually the biological son of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), shattering his self-identity; he's lived his whole thinking that his adoptive father Lord John Grey (David Berry) was his dad.

The news sends William into a spiral. He's abusive towards a prostitute who shows kindness to him before lashing out against Young Ian (John Bell) and his partner Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small). He attacks Young Ian, who he just found out is technically his cousin, and then gets Ian arrested when he fights back. He also forces a kiss on Rachel.

"Hurt people hurt people, and that's what happens in this episode," Charles Vandervaar told Cinema Blend. "William's a hurt person, and he hurts people, kind of irredeemably. There's not really an excuse for what he's doing. There's an explanation,...

Outlander Recap: The One Where Jamie Is Kind of a Jerk
Image
If you’re not a fan of watching the men of the Grey family take emotional and physical beatings, you likely spent most of this week’s Outlander averting your eyes.

Both Lord John and William (yes, I know, not technically a Grey, but c’mon) spend the hour in a tormented state: William a victim of the knowledge that his entire life has kinda been a lie, Lord John a victim of Jamie’s fists. You all know I love me some James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, but both his actions and his words in Episode 12 are straight-up ugly.

‘Inside Outlander’ Aftershow: Charles Vandervaart Talks Intense Scene With Sam Heughan, William’s Relationship With Jane (Video)
Image
Smashing a mirror was only the start of a destructive rampage for William (Charles Vandervaart) after discovering that Jamie (Sam Heughan) was his real father on Outlander. “This is probably William at his absolute worst. He’s having a full-blown crash out in this episode,” Vandervaart told us in Inside Outlander, our weekly aftershow. (Watch the video above for the full interview.) William’s fury drove him to “a tornado,” as Vandervaart calls it, of reprehensible behavior. One target was Ian (John Bell). Not only was William furious that Ian had kept it a secret that the two were cousins, but he was also jealous that Ian was engaged to Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small). A fight followed, and William had Ian arrested. In response, Rachel slapped William across the face. When you incite a Quaker woman to violence, you know you’re pushing the limits. Vandervaart also had an intense scene with Heughan.

Outlander review: Jamie learns the truth about Lord John Grey and Claire in Episode 712
Image
Last week's episode of Outlander left us on the edge of our seats as we learned that Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) is very much alive and well. However, his joyous return was more awkward than expected as his wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and friend Lord John Grey (David Berry) had slept together while he was presumed dead.

It's difficult to call their tryst a night of passion; rather it was a night of mourning, where the intimate actions were taking place not with one another, but with Jamie. It was a weird and strange night, to say the least, and Jamie's return had made things even stranger. Oh, and they got married too.

That brings us to this week's intriguing episode, aptly named "Carnal Knowledge." Without further ado, let's get right into the chaos and reveals! Beware Spoilers below.

Jamie (Sam Heughan) pulls Lord John (David Berry) through the streets, trying to escape the soldiers as Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 12 opens. It seems Jamie has something on him that he didn’t want the soldiers finding during their search as he entered the city.

Lord John wonders why Jamie took the chance to come to his house, and obviously, Jamie did it to see Claire. He knew she’d be worried after news arrived that his ship sank. Now, Jamie needs to get out of the city. Lord John should claim he was forced to go with Jamie if anyone discovers them.

They ride out of the city and Jamie finally has the chance to thank John for taking care of Claire. He promises to clear up all the lies they’ve told William the next time they see him.

Time Flies: The Outlander Cast Previews the Race to the ‘Bittersweet’ Season 7 Finale (and the Final Season Beyond)

Usually, the back-from-the-dead homecoming of a story’s hero is the stuff of triumphant season finales. But even though an alive-and-well Jamie Fraser burst back into the action in last week’s Outlander, we’re a long way off from a happy ending.

Fans of the Starz drama, we’ll understand if you’ve not yet recovered from the rollercoaster that was Episode 11. When Jamie was presumed lost at sea, his soulmate Claire and his pining gay bestie Lord John Grey married in an effort to keep her out of Redcoat custody (long story), then had drunken sex in an effort to lessen their mutual,...

Outlander Star Reveals What He Regrets About Last Episode's Shocking Hook-Up
Image
Outlander has never shied away from shocking, even downright traumatic, scenes. Since Season 1, the show has aimed to shock its audience with its gratuitous portrayal of life in the 18th century.

In the most recent, fans saw the aftermath of Lord John Gray’s (David Berry) wedding and the grief he and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) shared for their loss, culminating in a racy scene that audiences not familiar with the books would have expected. And whilst this pairing was certainly shocking, Berry felt it could have gone further than what was shown.

The final season of Starz’s long-running historical drama series Outlander receives a massive production update, along with new set photos.

Outlander Season 7, Episode 11 review: An unwanted marriage and a shocking character return
Image
Last week's episode of Outlander was...interesting, to say the least. I am not sure if interesting is the correct word, because I was suffering from intense anxiety after learning that Jamie (Sam Heughan) was no more. However, I refused to believe it then and I maintained that mindset as I started this new episode, "A Hundredweight of Stones."

Not only did we learn of Jamie's supposed demise in last week's episode, we also learned that Lord John (David Berry) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) must marry immediately. This is primarily due to the fact that she is being accused of being a spy, and in order to protect her, this is a step they must take.

What about Jamie? He is going to come back, right? They can't quite possibly do this...can they?

Tune in below to read our review to find out what goes down in "A Hundredweight...

‘Outlander’ Season 7 Episode 11 Recap: “A Hundredweight of Stones”

David Berry and Caitriona Balfe in ‘Outlander’ season 7 episode 11 (Photo Credit: Starz)

Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 11 opens with the somber wedding of Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and Lord John Grey (David Berry). Claire’s body is there, but her spirit is dead and her mind is occupied with memories of Jamie. She whispers her vows as if each word were a physical blow.

There’s a heart-wrenching pause before she manages to push out “until death do us part.” Lord John places the ring on her finger, and she removes it as soon as she returns to the bedroom she shared with the true love of her life.

Young Ian (John Bell) builds a cairn in Jamie’s memory and recites a prayer for his soul. Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) confirms some Quakers believe in heaven, but until proven, it’s just speculation. Ian takes comfort in thinking that...

Outlander Season 7, Episode 10 review: Disaster strikes (again!) as Claire learns gut-wrenching news
Image
Outlander is only two episodes into the second half of its seventh season and chaos is already ensuing, with no signs of stopping. As we saw in the premiere, the story is picking up rapidly. We've already watched the Frasers return to Scotland and then promptly after watched Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Young Ian (John Bell) leave for America to help Lord John Grey's (David Berry) nephew.

If you are a long-time fan of Outlander, you know good things can never come from Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire separating. It never sits well with me, and this week's episode proves exactly why that feeling is warranted.

A lot takes place in "Brotherly Love." It's filled with moments that remind me that this series is inching closer to its end and thus packing in all the punches it can along the way.

Read ahead for our review of "Brotherly Love", and...

‘Outlander’ Stars on Ian & Rachel’s Dramatic Reunion and Romantic Declaration of Love
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Outlander, Season 7, Episode 10, “Brotherly Love.”] Outlander may have pulled Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) apart in the most recent Season 7 episode, “Brotherly Love,” but it brought another pair back together as Young Ian (John Bell) and Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) were reunited. After arriving in Philadelphia, Ian is greeted by his trusty dog Rollo, but Rachel is nowhere to be found after the pet wandered from her side to his. While much of the episode sees the pair missing each other, Ian is eventually directed to the stables where he finds Rachel being held up by Arch Bug (Hugh Ross), who has vowed to take her life after Ian killed his wife. While Ian manages to get Arch away from Rachel, it is William (Charles Vandervaart) who intervenes, shooting the old man to protect Ian from being axed in the head after taking a blade to the arm in the scuffle.

Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) reflects on that big character death in latest Outlander episode
Image
The latest episode of Outlander, "Brotherly Love," featured the death of a long-running character: Old Ian, played by Steven Cree, so named because he's the father of Young Ian (John Bell). As the show marches toward its ending, fans would do well to remember that any character could die at any moment. All bets are off!

The episode opened with a flashback of Old Ian teaching Young Ian and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) how to fight as a team. Years later, his death is hitting everyone hard. "They were trained and brought up together and they fought side by side and they've got this long history together and there's some beautiful scenes, I think, they're beautifully written and wonderful to play with Steven [Cree], we've got a great relationship with him," Heughan told Radio Times. "He's a fun character in real life. It was just nice to play with these...

Why Jenny Was Recast in ‘Outlander’ Season 7
Image
The final episodes of Outlander’s seventh season finally returned to Starz in November, and fans couldn’t be more excited. When viewers last saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) in the midseason finale, the pair were on their way back to Scotland with Young Ian (John Bell) after more than a decade away. During the show’s third season, Ian was captured by pirates, prompting Claire and Jamie to go after him, which eventually took them all to Jamaica. After reuniting and attempting to return home, the trio were caught in a hurricane and washed ashore in America, where they ultimately decided to stay. Needless to say, it’s been a long time since they were all in Scotland, which means quite a bit has changed, including one major actress.

During Outlander’s earlier seasons, the role of Jenny Murray, Ian’s mother and Jamie’s sister,...

‘Outlander’ Season 7 Episode 10 Recap: “Brotherly Love”
Image
Sam Heughan and Kristin Atherton in ‘Outlander’ season 7 episode 10 (Photo Credit: Starz)

Starz’s Outlander season seven episode 10, which rips your heart out in its final 10 minutes, begins with a touching flashback of Jamie and Ian’s childhood in 1729. As they practice fighting, they’re reminded they’ll never lose if they fight as brothers. Ian’s dad, John (Adam McNamara), tells Ian that he must stand on Jamie’s left to protect his chief’s weaker side and never leave it.

The scene switches to Ian (Steven Cree) laughing about Claire being 207 years older than Jamie (Sam Heughan). Ian’s getting a real kick out of this turn of events, and it’s wonderful to see the friends enjoying what time they have left together. Ian describes his illness as feeling like a knife in his chest, and the slowness of it is driving him crazy. He has a...

Lord John and Claire Reunite in Outlander Season 7 Part 2 Images
Image
It's back, Outlander, and it's as beautiful as ever. The beloved Starz historical drama series has returned with the second batch of episodes for its seventh season. Central to the show's return was the emotional Lallybroch reunion with the family in Scotland for Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitrona Balfe) and Young Ian (John Bell). It also became abundantly clear that Roger (Richard Rankin) and Buck's (Diarmaid Murtagh) rescue mission back in time had somehow malfunctioned spectacularly. Outlander returns to Starz this Friday with Season 7, Episode 10, titled "Brotherly Love." Ahead of the new episode, the network has released a flurry of new images.

The return of our favorite show is finally here! Outlander season 7 part 2 began streaming earlier at midnight Et on the Starz app. But perhaps some of you Sassenachs are watching on the linear channel, which brings you here now. Aah. It just feels so good to be back at Lallybroch. It just gives me all those fuzzy feelings inside, even though it's definitely very bittersweet with Ian's condition. Unfortunatley he has consumption, which is known as tuberculosis today. Gosh, usually my favorite moments of an episode involve Jamie and Claire. But I think this time around, my all-time favorite scene in Outlander season 7 episode 9 was the...

Outlander Season 7 Part 2: Kristin Atherton & Steven Cree On Reconnecting With Jenny And Ian Murray In Trying Times
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

Warning: Spoilers for Outlander season 7, episode 9 "Unfinished Business"!Outlander returned to Starz tonight with season 7, episode 9, which celebrated Claire (Caitrona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) arriving in Scotland while also imparting some sad news for their family. The appropriately titled "Unfinished Business" did some much-needed table setting prior to the show's conclusion in season 8, allowing the Frasers to reconnect with Jamie's sister Jenny and her husband Ian Murray. While Ian is still played by Steven Cree, the role of Jenny is now played by Kristin Atherton.

Outlander season 7, part 2 also gave Young Ian (John Bell) the chance to reunite with his parents after seasons away, but his homecoming was particularly bittersweet. The episode revealed that his father is suffering from consumption and in the last stages of the illness, and Claire unfortunately confirmed that no medical miracle could save him time travel or not.

Outlander Season 7, Part 2: John Bell & Izzy Meikle-Small Tease Young Ian's Emotional Reunion And Rachel's Romantic Future
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

The hit Starz series Outlander returns tonight for season 7, part 2, following leads Claire (Caitrona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) as they return to Scotland on official business and tie up familial loose ends from previous seasons. Though author Diana Gabaldon still has another novel to go in her beloved story, the show will be closing out after season 8, which means the remaining episodes of season 7 are vitally important for setting the final act's stage. Though Claire and Jamie are the driving force, many supporting characters have brought new lifeblood to the narrative over the years and are equally deserving of satisfying conclusions.

One such character is Young Ian Murray (John Bell), Jamie's nephew who was the impetus for the couple's departure from Scotland back in season 3. Outlander season 7, part 2 finds him finally returning home to see his parents, though he has...

Outlander Season 7, Part 2 Review: The Drama Pays Tribute To Its Past While Looking Forward To Its Future
Image
For several seasons now, Outlander has looked quite different from the TV show's beginning, but the first three episodes of season 7, part 2 still have a few tricks. For audiences who have stuck with Outlander from the start, the slow transformation into a family-oriented series has had its ups and downs. However, the second half of this extra-long season delivers some of the action that the series needs. While Caitrona Balfe and Sam Heughan as Claire and Jamie Fraser will always be the show's beating heart, there's plenty to explore with the other characters.

Based on the novel series, Outlander follows combat nurse Claire Randall from the year 1945, who is mysteriously transported back to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world and sees her life threatened. However, when Claire is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a genuine and passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two different men from two clashing lives.

Outlander Season 8 Will Provide A Satisfying End While The Book Series Continues, Teases Producer
Image
Outlander producer Maril Davis explains how season 8 will try to offer a satisfying conclusion, despite the book series still releasing another installment. The historical drama, based on Diana Gabaldons novels, has captivated audiences with its sweeping love story between Claire Randall (Caitrona Balfe), a World War II nurse-turned-time traveler, and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), an 18th-century Highland warrior. The historical drama has garnered critical acclaim and a devoted audience, with Outlander season 8 striving to honor the series legacy.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Davis shared insights into the challenge of crafting a satisfying conclusion for the beloved series. While there is no official release date for the finale, Davis assures Outlander's ending will honor both the shows legacy and the ongoing book series, which has at least one more installment yet to be published. Here's what she had to say:

Outlander star talks returning for season 7, part 2 after years away
Image
Outlander returns in just a couple days for the second half of its seventh season, over a year after part 1 wrapped up. You might look at that long wait and conclude that this is effectively season 8, but they're calling it season 7, part 2, so let's just run with it.

When last we left them, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) were returning to Jamie's native Scotland, with Young Ian (John Bell) in tow. That means they'll be reuniting with characters fans haven't seen in a while, including Young Ian's father, appropriately named Old Ian Murray. Actor Steven Cree, who hasn't played Old Ian since season 4, talked to the Daily Record about what it was like to be back on the show.

"One of the things I liked most about it was going back now. The last time I was on it, I wasn't a dad and going back and...
