“The meetings became screaming matches”: Kevin Feige Saved Chris Evans’ Captain America from Certain Doom After Marvel Wanted to Make a Major Change to the First Movie
Image
Kevin Feige was part of the infamous Marvel Creative Committee (McC) in the early stages of the MCU and played a crucial role in preventing the committee from ruining Captain America. According to reports, Feige and Louis D’Esposito vehemently opposed the committee’s idea to set the character in modern times. There were screaming matches during meetings of the McC, with Feige emerging successful and giving us the period piece, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Kevin Feige resisted many of the unpopular and toxic decisions of the McC (credits: Spider-Man: Far from Home)

According to the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, the McC consisted of Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, Brian Michael Bendis, Louis D’Esposito, Kevin Feige, and Alan Fine. The book suggested that most of the unpopular and toxic opinions came from Alan Fine, who was the Dwight to Ike Perlmutter’s Michael.

Blue Beetle and the Sudden Industry Push for Superhero Diversity
Image
These days, many studios are attempting to fix an issue that has plagued them for years: how to deal with claims that they are not representative or inclusive. This is a very important problem in the film industry and has been for decades, but it is especially prevalent in the comic book/superhero genre. In an attempt to rectify that issue, films like Blue Beetle and The Marvels are being made to show that anyone can be a superhero and feature more people of color in the titular hero role.

A lot of people feel this change is very sudden and perhaps rash, but we are here to let them know where it is coming from. A few questions loom in the background through all of this, though: is this enough to make up for lost time? Is it too little too late? Are these studios even genuine in their approach?...

Captain America's Perfect MCU Introduction Was Almost Ruined By Marvel
Image
The period setting of Captain America: The First Avenger was almost changed, but Kevin Feige's insistence on showing rather than telling allowed the audience to connect with Steve Rogers' story as a man out of time. Steve Rogers' origin story needed to take place during WWII because it was crucial to his transformation into Captain America. Updating it to modern times would have required rewriting key elements that wouldn't make sense. Marvel could benefit from more movies set in the past, as it provides a good blueprint for new origin stories and allows for the introduction of characters like the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Setting movies in the past adds depth to character stories and expands the possibilities for future films.

One aspect of Chris Evans' Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger was almost ruined by Marvel, and, in fact, led to "screaming matches" between executives.

Phil Collins: Lawsuit between musician and ex-wife ‘thrown out by judge’
Image
The lawsuit between Phil Collins and his former wife, Orianne Cevey, has allegedly been dismissed by a judge in Florida.

Cevey, who was married to the Genesis vocalist, drummer and solo artist from 1999 to 2008, sued him for half of the proceeds from the sale of the Miami estate they once owned together.

The property listing stated that it sold for nearly 40m (£34m) in January 2021.

Page Six reports that Cevey claimed Collins had previously promised her half of a sale if she moved back in with him.

However, it has now been reported that the case has come to an end after a Florida judge declared that he’d seen enough evidence to dismiss.

According to papers seen by the publication, Judge Alan Fine said: “I’m done with this. You can go ahead and prepare the order of dismissal… I feel comfortable that enough is enough.”

As a result,...

The Ending Of Captain America: Civil War Was Almost Destroyed By The Marvel Creative Committee
Kevin Feige at an event for Thor : Le Monde des ténèbres (2013)
Back in 2015, we heard Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige almost walked away from the company due to ongoing disagreements with the Marvel Creative Committee about "Captain America: Civil War." This group situated at the Marvel Entertainment offices in New York consisted of Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter, president Alan Fine, Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis, Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley, and Marvel Entertainment Cco Joe Quesada, and they were constantly meddling in the affairs of Marvel Studios with terrible notes and worse ideas. At the time, all we heard was talk about the brass in New York wanting to scale...

Kevin Feige at an event for Thor : Le Monde des ténèbres (2013)
Does Kevin Feige’s Marvel Promotion Mean Ike Perlmutter’s Endgame?
Kevin Feige at an event for Thor : Le Monde des ténèbres (2013)
Last week’s move giving Kevin Feige charge of Marvel’s television, animation and print editorial operations should come as no surprise. As the architect of the company’s enormous film success, Feige arguably has the most enviable track record of any contemporary entertainment executive. Extending his creative control over more of the Marvel universe seems like a no-brainer. But some insiders were stunned that Feige’s gain came at the expense of Ike Perlmutter — Marvel Entertainment’s CEO and the largest single shareholder of its corporate parent, the Walt Disney Co. To see Perlmutter, who had already lost control of Marvel’s film unit in a vicious turf war with Feige and Disney in 2015, be forced to cede nearly all creative authority at the company he’s run for more than 20 years came as a shock to some.

None were more surprised by the move than the Marvel executives...

Marvel Announces New Spider-Man Animated Series For Disney Junior Amid Rift With Sony Over Film Franchise
Well, this is awkward timing.

During Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment’s panel at Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday evening, the company announced a new original preschool animated series for Disney Junior, Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Set to debut in 2021, it marks the first full-length Marvel series for Disney Junior.

The news comes at the end of a tumultuous week for the Spider-Man live-action movie franchise. As Deadline first reported, a standoff between Sony and Marvel/Disney has led to Marvel chief Kevin Feige exiting the Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and a looming exit of Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Preschool kids already love Spidey, so they’ll be delighted to have Peter Parker thwipping across their screens in this new series” Cort Lane, Svp, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment, said in the announcement of the new series.

‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’: DisneyXD Orders Season 3 For Spring 2020
Disney Xd has ordered a third season of the Emmy-nominated animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man with a Spring 2020 premiere, according to Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming and general manager, Disney Xd. In the third season, titled Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, Peter Parker’s alter ego is pushed to his breaking point when the always-volatile Venom summons a global threat from its alien home world.

“This is the most epic conflict in the history of Marvel Animation,” said Cort Lane, senior vice president, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment. “We planted the seeds in two seasons of Marvel’s Spider-Man and three seasons of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but you don’t need to have watched them to be blown away by this colossal confrontation. While a ton of guest heroes will be on hand, Peter Parker’s special link to Venom makes him the only hero who can...

Marvel Studios' Creative Committee Wanted James Gunn To Cut The Awesome Soundtrack in Guardians Of The Galaxy!
For years, the filmmaking teams working on the Marvel Studios' films were getting a lot of input and notes from Marvel's Creative Committee led by Ike Perlmutter was a thorn in their side, which is why Kevin Feige eventually had Disney cut ties with them. Feige ended up orchestrating a move with Disney and CEO Bob Iger to make Marvel Studios a separate entity which would only report to Disney.

One of the more ridiculous things that the Marvel Creative Committee wanted to do is have James Gunn ditch his amazing soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy! James Gunn told Vanity Fair that the committee was “a group of comic-book writers and toy people” who gave him “haphazard” notes. As you know, the Guardians soundtrack, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1", ended up going Platinum.

This committee also consisted of Marvel Comics Publisher Dan Buckley, Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, Marvel Entertainment...

Spider-Man Battles Scorpion in First Clip From Marvel's New Spider-man Animated Series
Marvel has released sneak peek of their new Spider-Man animated series. It features a clip of Spidey in the heat of battle with Scorpion. The new series goes back to the origins of Spider-Man as a hero while Peter Parker discovers his powers and begins fighting crime in New York City.

It looks like something the kids will enjoy, but Marvel hasn't really impressed me with any of their animation projects since The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Since then things have just been going downhill, especially the animation quality.

Maybe some of you will enjoy this first look more than I did. Check it out and tell us what you think! The series is set to debut on Disney Xd this summer.

Produced by Marvel Animation, the animated Spider-Man series’ award-winning creative team includes executive producers Alan Fine (Marvel’s The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor), Dan Buckley (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,...

Ant-Man: animated shorts coming to Disney Xd
Rob Leane May 23, 2017

Ant-Man will shrink onto the small screen, for a series of shorts on Disney Xd...

Fittingly enough, Ant-Man is going to flit between the big and small screens. Scott Lang is shrinking to telly size for Disney Xd, to appear in a series of shorts entitled Marvel's Ant-Man.

See related Star Wars: Rogue One review Star Wars: Rogue One - what did you think?

Josh Keaton (heard recently in Ben-10 and Voltron: Legendary Defender) will step into Paul Rudd's shoes to voice crook-turned-hero Scott.

The shorts will follow on from the events of Peyton Reed's 2015 Ant-Man movie, but, as with the Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, we wouldn't expect them to be officially canonical with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cinematic sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp, we expect, won't need to shape its script to account for these events.

'Captain America: Civil War' Tracking For Huge Opening
Marvel Studios is getting ready to pop some champagne bottles.

The studio is getting ready to release Captain America: Civil War, and it's looking to be the biggest film in that particular series. Captain America: The First Avenger opened to $65 million, followed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier- which brought in $95 million. This time around, Cap will be joined by several super-powered friends, and the expected haul for the film, domestically, is $175 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, that figure could go as high as $200 million, based on the strength of the current tracking numbers. Awareness is high; Reviews are fantastic; and the Marvel brand has never been stronger. Mix in the fact that this will feature the McU debut of Spider-Man, and it's a perfect storm for the studio.

The international figure isn't being discussed at the moment, but they're definitely something to look out for. Something I've...

Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Scarlet Witch in next month's Captain America: Civil War. She was one of the standout new characters in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and joined the Avengers at the end of that sequel. Now, she is back to fight on the side of Team Captain America. In a new EW expose, it is revealed that Scarlet Witch may be the one responsible for triggering a major catastrophe in Captain America: Civil War, which has damaging results. It helps lead directly into the formation of the Sokovia Accords, which outlaws any unsupervised superhero activity. Taking a stand against these Accords, Captain America and some of the other Avengers are forced to go on the run as they are hunted down by Tony Stark and his Team Iron Man.

Baron Zemo Revealed in 'Captain America: Civil War'
Avengers (1999)
Captain America: Civil War is just a few weeks away from release. And leading up to its big debut in theaters, Marvel and Disney have done a very good job of keeping one of its villains out of the spotlight. But today that changes, as EW gives us a first look at Daniel Br&#252hl as the dreaded Baron Zemo. And as you can see, he doesn't look much like his comic book counterpart, as he goes unmasked in this sequel.

The details behind Baron Zemo's introduction have been kept a secret ever since it was announced that the character was going to make an apperance in the movie back in 2014. Advanced word from preview screenings is that Daniel Br&#252hl will not pull on the iconic yellow and purple mask and jumpsuit, with his new signature look shown off in this first image. Along with this new photo, we...

On Tony Stark's side are War Machine and Black Widow. During this appearance, Robert Downey Jr. also teased a possible role in the...

Earlier today, we showed you a new clip from Captain America: Civil War that debuted on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, featuring Ant-Man's (Paul Rudd) introduction to Captain America (Chris Evans) and his team. Fans also got to see another clip from this superhero adventure during the MTV Movie Awards, which showed Team Cap in action. Now Marvel has unveiled yet a third clip, which reveals how this conflict between Cap and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) begins. If that wasn't enough, we also have nine minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from Captain America: Civil War to check out as well.

The scene features Cap arguing that the document the United Nations wants all of the Avengers to sign is dangerous, because the U.N. has their own agendas at play. Naturally, Tony Stark and Rhodey (Don Cheadle) don't agree, with Tony stating that he shut his weapons down after learning...

This summer, Marvel will kick off its Phase Three lineup with a bang when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6. This highly-anticipated superhero adventure splits the Marvel Cinematic Universe in two, with Team Captain America squaring off against Team Iron Man. Earlier today, the IMAX Twitter feed released a new poster, while asking fans to choose their side by using the hashtags #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan.

Marvel's Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. 'Civil War' TV Spot Shows Spider-Man Running Into Battle
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Over the weekend, Disney and Marvel lifted their social media embargo on Captain America: Civil War. And praise for Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man was unanimous. Critics love what the actor is doing with the character. Peter Parker gets about 30 minutes of screen time in this latest sequel, which is more than fans expected. And he'll spend about 20 minutes of that time in full Spidey costume. For the first time since his big reveal in the trailer, a new international TV spot has arrived that gives us a quick new look at this rebooted superhero. Though blink and you might miss him.

You'll have to look extremely close to spot Spider-Man in this international TV spot, which features music you might not typically associate with a Marvel superhero adventure. He is in only one shot, and he's accompanied by quite a few other characters. Peter Parker appears in his...

'Captain America: Civil War' TV Spots Tear the Avengers Apart
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Captain America: Civil War will kick off Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in grand fashion, with an epic battle featuring almost all of the McU heroes taking sides and fighting each other. Today, we have two new TV spots that tease this epic action, along with two photos, featuring Rhodey (Don Cheadle) and The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Speaking of Rhodey, New York Daily News also caught up with Don Cheadle, who teases his fate and fan reactions from the trailers.

One of the most intriguing moments of the trailers released thus far show Rhodey in the War Machine armor plummeting from the sky with a hole blown in his chest. We see Tony Stark remove his mask, and while we don't know if Rhodey has passed away or not, at the very least, he appears to be gravely injured. While speaking with New York Daily News, the...

'Civil War' TV Spot: Captain America Is a Wanted Man
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
The summer movie season is just around the corner, kicking off with Marvel's first Phase Three movie, Captain America: Civil War. This epic advnture features almost every hero in the McU squaring off against each other. To get fans ready for this ultimate brawl, Latino Review has debuted a new international TV spot that showcases some of the explosive action fans can experience in theaters May 6. Even before Captain America: Civil War opens, the bar has been set rather high for all superhero movies this year.

Both 20th Century Fox's Deadpool ($132.4 million) and Warner Bros.' Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($170 million) opened much higher than expected in their respective debut weekends. While we don't have any tracking data for Captain America: Civil War yet, the movie is expected to get summer started in grand fashion. But we'll have to wait and see if it can out-perform what has...

First 'Civil War' TV Spots Have Captain America Cornered
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
This weekend, Warner Bros. kicks off its DC Extended Universe (Dceu) with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which pits two iconic heroes against each other. In just over one month, though, Marvel will unveil the first installment of Phase Three with Captain America: Civil War, featuring almost every hero in the McU squaring off against each other. Today we have two new TV spots from ComicBook.com and Adoro Filmes, which features intriguing footage from this superhero adventure.

The first TV spot teases that Cap's (Chris Evans) longtime friend Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, is at the heart of the conflict that drives a wedge between Cap and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). Bucky is still a wanted man after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and we see that Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) tries to keep Cap from interfering, but that doesn't happen,...

International 'Civil War' Trailer Has New Hawkeye and Black Widow Footage

They used to be such good friends. Now, they are bitter enemies. A new international trailer has arrived from Marvel's epic summer blockbuster Captain America: Civil War. And it puts former besties Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) on opposite ends of a big battle that both sides are finding impossible to beat. The rest of this action-packed sneak peek is pretty close to the second trailer that debuted a few weeks ago. But these few seconds of new footage makes it all worthwhile!

Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo claim to have just screened Captain America: Civil War for leading man Chris Evans for the very first time. And they have documented his reaction in a new video posted exclusively to their Facebook page. But something strange is afoot. As the actor gives his short and sweet review of the movie, he keeps a Captain America mask covering his face. Here's what he has to say about the movie.

"Wow! Guys, I mean, what a movie. It is incredible. You've done it again. I just can't believe it. The story's amazing. The characters are compelling. The action is unlike anything I've ever seen. I loved it. I absolutely loved it."

Now, it doesn't take the world's greatest super sleuth to see that it's not Chris Evans under that mask. At first, it almost sounds like Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. But...

'Captain America: Civil War' Leaves Sebastian Stan Speechless
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
So far, test audiences have gone wild for Captain America: Civil War. Some have even called it the best Marvel movie yet. And ratings have been through the roof. So while we might otherwise look at any given actor's review of his own movie as suspect, we're inclined to believe Sebastian Stan this time out. He stars as Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, in this third Steve Rogers outing. And he has nothing but praise and curse words to shower down upon his latest work of blockbuster art.

Captain America: Civil War is easily one of the most anticipated movies of 2016. And the superhero movie is bringing back nearly every Marvel superhero ever introduced on the big screen along with a few new additions. It is shaping up to be the ensemble to end all ensembles. And the hype surrounding the movie has reached a fever pitch. This past...

What If Miles Morales Replaced Spider-Man in 'Captain America: Civil War'?
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
What If was a Marvel comic book series that explored how different aspects of this superhero universe might unfold had one key element been changed of if history had been rewritten. We're getting a taste of that same idea today, as one enterprising fan has changed out Spider-Man in the Captain America: Civil War trailer with fan-favorite Miles Morales. And as expected, he looks pretty cool.

We're not sure if we'll ever see half-black/half-Latino Miles Morlaes on the big screen. Spider-Man reboot director Jon Watts has hinted that he may show up in the 2017 standalone movie. This next adventure for the wall-crawler brings Peter Parker back to high school, and will feature a diverse secondary cast. In the comics, Miles took over for Peter as Spider-Man. But as Tom Holland is new to the McU, we doubt that will happen for quite some time.

But it's still fun to...

Jeph Loeb Reveals How Many Marvel TV Shows Are Currently In Development
At the NYC premiere for Daredevil season 2 , Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb touched on the ever expanding slate of programming in development at Marvel TV. Said Loeb, "It never stops. We have, in one way or the other, there's nine or ten shows that are going. They're going on in my brain. The idea is, much like when I was doing television and writing comics at the same time, it’s about telling stories, and making sure we are telling the best stories that we can. I’m not there alone, I’ve got people like Joe Quesada, Dan Buckley, and Alan Fine at Marvel, incredible showrunners, incredible writers, Jim Chory, who’s my head of production and can make all of these things happen. It’s having a team around you to be able to do exactly what you’re saying, which is not just live here, but...

Jeremy Renner Shares Hawkeye 'Civil War' Promo Art
Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Paul Bettany, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Sebastian Stan in Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Marvel's highly-anticipated Captain America: Civil War will kick off Phase Three in just under two months, arriving in theaters May 6. Anticipation for this superhero adventure is higher than ever, following the release of the second trailer yesterday, which gave us our first look at the new Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. Today, we have another tiny glimpse at this upcoming movie, with Jeremy Renner sharing a new promo photo of his character Hawkeye in costume, along with a humorous hashtag.

"Promo images are coming out #newcostume what do you think? #getonmytip #marvel #hawkeye #civilwar #captainamerica"

The #getonmytip hashtag refers to a shot in the trailer, where a shrunken Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) takes a ride on the tip of an arrow shot by Hawkeye. They are both a part of Team Cap, which also includes Captain America (Chris Evans), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and The Winter Soldier...
