‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Stars Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt Join ‘Dancing With the Stars’
Image
Season 34 of “Dancing With the Stars” is shaping up to have quite a cast — “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” stars Whitney Leavitt and Jen Affleck are set to compete this fall, the women announced during the reunion special for the Hulu hit on Monday night.

Both Leavitt and Affleck have been on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” since Season 1 premiered on Hulu in September 2024. The show quickly became the streaming service’s most-watched unscripted series — and when Season 2 debuted on May 15, its ratings quickly outpaced the first season, drawing five million views in its first five days.

In Season 1 of the show, Leavitt was painted as the series’ villain, since she kept removing herself from the #MomTok groupchat, and alienated herself from the group of influencers. But in the show’s second season, Leavitt tried to make up with the group, and had mostly succeeded (Mikayla Matthews remained...

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Host Julianne Hough Breaks Down Resurgence for Season 33, Teases ‘Biggest Season Yet’
Image
Julianne Hough has been involved in “Dancing With the Stars” in some capacity for nearly 20 years, long enough to see a resurgence for the ABC ballroom competition show among younger viewers during last season’s 33rd installment.

“We’ve seen multigenerations follow the show for years, but now, the babies that were born when their parents first started watching the show are now 18, and they’re creating their own new generation of people who love the show,” Hough, who now hosts the show, told TheWrap. “There’s just been this whole new resurgence of life like back into the show.”

Hough points to Olympian Ilona Maher as one Season 33 contestant who raised the bar for “Dancing With the Stars” with her vulnerability on the show, and brought in a new generation of fans who followed her on social media during the Paris Games. “Dancing” will draw in a similar younger...

Gabriel Howell, who plays Snotlout, said he related to the characters the first time he watched the animated trilogy. “You feel in-between phases and in-between versions of yourself, and [director Dean DeBlois] injects the film with wonder and heart,” Howell said. “It’s the ultimate wish fulfillment, meeting a best friend who is a dragon.

Hot Take: Tom Bergeron’s Firing Was the Best Thing to Happen to Dancing With the Stars
Image
Tom Bergeron’s firing from Dancing With the Stars nearly five years ago was a huge shock.

It seemingly came out of nowhere, and viewers were upset about the change.

Tyra Banks was his replacement, and it didn’t go well.

(ABC/Screenshot)

However, after the chaos and pushback from Dancing With the Stars viewers, ABC settled on the current co-hosting situation.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are the duo we didn’t know we needed from the dance competition.

Tom Bergeron’s Firing Was a Blessing in Disguise

While we loved Tom Bergeron and he was a staple on the show for 15 years, his firing sparked a revival in the failing reality dance competition.

(ABC/Screenshot)

After Tyra Banks didn’t last (even with Alfonso Ribeiro as her co-host), the current co-hosting pair took the stage.

Julianne Hough joined Alfonso during Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars, and it’s been great ever since.

Will ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Have a Male-Male Pairing in Season 34? Here’s What Show Boss Says
Image
The Season 33 finale of Dancing With the Stars featured longtime friends Derek Hough and Mark Ballas collaborating on an Argentine Tango, leading to speculation that Season 34 could feature a male celebrity dancing with a male pro. This would follow suit with the Season 30 all-female pairing of Jenna Johnson and JoJo Siwa. “I would say we are constantly looking at the ways by which we can push the envelope and produce a show that reflects and represents society as a whole,” executive producer Ryan O’Dowd told Deadline. “So I wouldn’t rule it out. It’s something that we’re continuing to discuss.” So far, Alix Earle and Robert Irwin have been confirmed as cast members for Season 34, but the rest of the cast and the pro partner pairings won’t be announced until closer to the fall premiere. Here’s How Dancing with the Stars Producers Plan to Push the Envelope In Season 34
Image
Producers want to push the envelope in Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars and want to find fresh ways to liven up the long-running series. Executive Producer Ryan O’Dowd revealed whether the show would ever consider having a male-male pairing.

Big Changes

In an interview with Deadline, O’Dowd reflected on DWTS. He was asked about Derek Hough and Mark Ballas’ groundbreaking performance. The two performed an Argentine tango together. The origins of the dance were originally meant for two male dancers. Would the show ever consider a male-male pairing in the near future? This is something that producers are looking to incorporate in Season 34.

O’Dowd admitted that he wants to do “things that have never been done before.” He was also a fan of that dance routine and admitted that the reality show is “constantly looking at the ways by which [they] can push the envelope.” Technically, the only...

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Judges’ Future: Will There Be Another Shake-Up? Producer Weighs In
Image
Will Dancing With the Stars ever see a completely new judging panel? The executive producer weighs in on the possibility of just that as the competition series gears up for Season 34, especially since the hosts have changed in recent years. Since Season 1, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli have served on the judges’ panel. Len Goodman, who died in April 2023, sat beside them for Seasons 1 to 20, 22 to 28, and 30 and 31. Julianne Hough, former pro and current host, was a judge in Seasons 19 to 21, 23, and 24. Derek Hough, Julianne’s brother and six-time Mirrorball champion, currently sits beside Inaba and Tonioli and has since Season 29. So, could one of these judges, perhaps Tonioli, who is 69, get the boot soon? Executive producer Ryan O’Dowd spoke with Deadline about his long-term hopes for the judging panel. “I think the panel we have now is one of the best mixes of everything you could want. And...

Derek Hough breaks down his ‘Dancing With the Stars’ routines with Hayley Erbert and Mark Ballas

"Extreme highs and extreme lows." That's how Derek Hough describes the last 16 months.

In December 2023, the Dancing With the Stars judge's wife Hayley Erbert underwent an emergency craniectomy after she collapsed backstage due to a severe brain bleed during a stop on his Symphony of Dance tour. Exactly a month later, at the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were delayed from September due to the dual strikes, Hough won his record-tying fourth Best Choreography Emmy for his routine to Michael Bublé's "Higher" on Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars. He gave an emotional speech, tearfully dedicating the award to Erbert.

"Exactly a month to the day [earlier], I was on the hospital floor, in tears, just in absolute just shock and disbelief, and just being in this sort of unfathomable situation where I really believe that I was going to lose my wife," Hough tells Gold Derby. "And to think that within 30 days,...

Robert Irwin is ready to take a break from the outback and test his skills on the dance floor instead.

He was announced as the first person joining the Season 34 cast of Dancing with the Stars, calling it “A dream come true.”

The son of late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin is not one to shy away from a challenge, and he’s more than ready to trade in his rugged outdoor boots for fancier footwear.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old has big shoes to fill; he’s not the first Irwin to participate in the competition.

Robert’s older sister, Bindi Irwin, joined the show in Season 21.

Despite her young age, the then 17-year-old took home the mirrorball trophy with her dance partner, Derek Hough.

Robert was much younger then, but now he’s ready to follow in his sister’s footsteps.

Image
Siblings Julianne Hough and Derek Hough have been with Dancing With the Stars since Season 4 and Season 5, respectively. ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Renewed for Season 34; Robert Irwin Set as First Celebrity Contestant
Image
“Dancing with the Stars” is officially coming back, as ABC has renewed the reality competition series for Season 34.

Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin is set to compete, following in his sister, Bindi Irwin’s, footsteps. Bindi took home the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015’s Season 21 with her partner, Derek Hough.

The son of the late Steve Irwin, Robert made headlines earlier this month with a racy campaign for Australian underwear brand, Bonds. “Also, I’m at this point in my life where I’m trying to do as many different and random exciting things, and if it’s something that makes me a little bit nervous, that I’ve never done before and it’s a bit of an adrenaline rush? That’s what I want to be doing,” he told People.

In 2024, Bindi revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she’d love to see her mother, Terri, and her brother compete on the show,...

Dancing With The Stars Pro Derek Hough Discusses How The Show Has Helped Fight Bullying
Image
Derek Hough discovered dance as a child and chose to follow a career path as a dancer, which was not without its challenges. Hough has previously discussed how he was mercilessly bullied as a child for pursuing his passion. However, he believes that shows like the reality TV dancing competition Dancing with the Stars have helped to change the narrative surrounding men who dance.

"For me, having a platform and having a stage like Dancing with the Stars, that is elevating dance to new heights over this past, almost, 20 years," he said, per People. "I honestly was bullied as a kid going to school for being a dancer. I was picked on." He continued, "Now to see football games, basketball games, whatever it is, and they go, 'Yo, that tango was incredible, man, that was awesome.'"

The new hopefuls for the next Dancing with the Stars season haven’t been revealed yet, but Derek Hough is already throwing a name into the ring.

The former DWTS dancer turned judge would love to see Taylor Lautner show off his dance skills.

Is Dancing With The Stars Casting Spencer Pratt And Heidi Montag?
Image
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have been in the news quite a bit lately — and amid speculation about and loud calls for a new reality TV show for the former The Hills stars, Dancing With The Stars judge Derek Hough raised a very interesting possibility.

There's a bit of backstory here, though, mostly involving recent events.

Ongoing wildfires have been raging in Los Angeles since January 7, and Spencer and Heidi lost their house on January 8.

Spencer initially shared two videos via TikTok, and the second depicted their home engulfed in flames.

Broadly, the Los Angeles wildfires are horrific and tragic — but Spencer's ongoing interaction with fans and followers on TikTok have been an unexpected bright spot.

As we recently reported, Spencer mounted an effort to send his wife, Heidi, to the top of the charts to earn streaming revenue, and he absolutely pulled it off.
