Raised over $5000 dollars for Terry Fox Cancer Research and a local homeless shelter through various theatre productions while still in high school. He was awarded a Civic award for his contributions.

Met actress Nina Dobrev on the set of Degrassi; The Next Generation and are now close friends. In 2008, the two lived together as roommates in downtown Toronto.

Benjamin is a hockey fan and a die hard supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In November 2011, In Touch Weekly released a cover page story that Demi Moore had been unfaithful to her husband Ashton Kutcher with Ben Hollingsworth. Both, Ben and Demi denied the affair. It was assumed, by many, to be a false story that was part of a smear campaign against the actress.

Benjamin attended the Met Gala in 2010 - he was invited by designer Marc Jacobs. He sat at Jacobs table along with Leighton Meester, Nicole Richie, Rachel Zoe, Greta Gerwig and Lily Donaldson.

He graduated from St. Peter's Secondary School (Peterborough, Ontario).

Benjamin was a part of the most decorated team in the history of ABC's "Battle of the Network Stars".

Graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. In 2006, Benjamin completed the prestigious three year conservatory program.
