Blu-ray Review – Dead Snow 2: Red Vs Dead
I enjoyed the first Dead Snow film well enough, but it seemed like it gathered a ravenous fanbase, which I was not a part of. It was a competently made zombie film, but at the time, I had pretty much had it up to here with the genre. Plus, another couple of nazi “zombie” movies came out around the same time, such as Outpost, and to a lesser extent, Frankenstein’s Army. I had little hope for a sequel to a mostly decent foreign zombie movie. You can imagine my surprise when early word of mouth from the festival circuit was mostly positive. After around 50 emails, I was finally able to find a PR person with an online screener for me to view. The first time I would see Dead Snow 2 would be mostly in its native tongue. I realized that Martin Starr was in the film, however, so I...

Celluloid Screams 2014: ‘Dead Snow 2′ Review
Stars: Stig Frode Henriksen, Martin Starr, Vegar Hoel, Orjan Gamst, Amrita Acharia, Jocelyn DeBoer, Ingrid Haas, Derek Mears, Kristoffer Joner, Christian Rubeck, Charlotte Frogner | Written by Stig Frode Henriksen, Tommy Wirkola, Vegar Hoel | Directed by Tommy Wirkola

Over the years there has been a boom in Norwegian horror with films like Dark Woods, Manhunt, Cold Prey and it’s sequels and, of course, Tommy Wirkola’s Nazi zombie epic, Dead Snow. And now comes the sequel, Dead Snow 2: Red or Dead, which picks up directly where the last film ended. For those that don’t remember, the original film saw a group of horny teens head out to a cabin miles from nowhere, high up in the snowy Norwegian mountains, with no cell phone reception and no car. Being typical movie teens the gang indulge in all the usual “horror movie teenager” behaviour: sex, booze and partying. However their...

Price: DVD $24.98, Blu-ray $34.98

Studio: Well Go USA

Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is an over-the-top sequel to the 2009 cult horror comedy Dead Snow.

Picking up immediately where the original left off, the film wastes no time getting right to the gore-filled action, leaving a bloody trail of intestines in its wake.

Martin (Vegar Hoel) hasn’t had the best vacation. He accidentally killed his girlfriend with an axe. He cut his own arm off with a chainsaw. And his friends still got devoured by a battalion of Nazi zombies. This morning, he woke up in a hospital bed with a new arm – but it’s a super-powered zombie arm that wants to kill him, and anything else it can reach. Martin’s pissed. And with the help of his new Zombie Squad pals (Martin Starr, Jocelyn DeBoer, Ingrid Haas), he’s gonna deliver some...

Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead | Review
Dead Again: Wirkola Outstays Welcome of Outlandish Gimmick

For those that were generally amused by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola’s breakout festival hit Dead Snow (2009), in which a group of skiers were accosted by a gaggle of Nazi zombies, then avoiding its sequel, Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead may be in order if you wish to retain your pleasant memories of the first chapter. Suffering from a rampage of defiant narrative mistakes often administered in unnecessary sequels, this rehash is laconic, unenthusiastic and inherently routine. Now, the motivation of these zombie zealots has to be rationalized and explained to some degree, which only kills the slightly amusing idiocy of the first film—a feeling akin to the difference between joking about an easy target like Christian Scientologists, and then, say, being forced to attend an eight hour seminar that seriously teaches its religious tenets.

Surviving the initial Nazi attack,...

The Zombie Squad vs Undead Nazis October 10-11 at The Mx Theater Downtown – Dead Snow 2: Red Vs Dead
Whoever said the phrase “The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi” may find those words coming back to haunt them October 10th and 11 at St. Louis’ most comfortable theater – The Mx Downtown!

The St. Louis chapter of The Zombie Squad will be hosting a premier of the new film Dead Snow 2: Red Vs Dead which features a fictionalized version of The Zombie Squad, the nation’s premiere zombocalypse preparedness organization as the heroes who battle undead Nazis. Founded and headquartered in St Louis, Mo, Zombie Squad International is an organization committed to educating the public about the importance of emergency preparedness and community service. The organization’s members are proud to have Zombie Squad represented as the American “heroes” in this film, appreciate the how closely the film’s sense of humor aligns with the tongue-in-cheek nature of the organization’s mission.

As part of WellGo USA’s distribution of the film,...

'Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead' Trailer Calls in the Zombie Squad!
Dead Snow (2009)
Just days before it debuts as an opening night selection at Fantastic Fest on September 18, Well Go USA has released a new trailer for Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead. Vegar Hoel returns as Martin, whose friends were eaten alive by a group of Nazi zombies in director Tommy Wirkola's original classic Dead Snow. With the help of his new zombie friends, Martin raises an undead army of his own to get revenge on Colonel Herzog (&#216rjan Gamst).

Watch the New Trailer for Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead
“These are not your textbook zombies. These are cursed zombies, awakened to complete a task given to them.” The fight between the living and the risen dead continues in Tommy Wirkola’s Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead. The new trailer shows Martin once again fighting Colonel Herzog’s Nazi zombies, but this time he has to deal with a possessed arm reminiscent of Ash’s infected hand from Evil Dead 2.

Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead Review
Before reading any further, please understand that you’re following a reviewer who gave Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters a positive review – not glowing, but still a fresh tomato. Why do I admit to such blasphemy? Because that’s how much I respect Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, so now when I start gushing about Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead, you’ll have the proper background.

With that said, Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead is too much zombie-killin’ fun for one horror movie. I walked away from Dead Snow admiring Wirkola’s ability to marry genre lovin’ with a serious, graphically visual bite, and his goose-stepping sequel ups the ante in almost every way. Besides showing a twisted obsession with ripping out character’s intestines, Wirkola doesn’t hold anything back as far as “safety” may be concerned. If you thought Nazis were evil enough, these Nazi Zombies show the mercy of Adolf Hitler,...

Cool teaser trailer lands for Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead
Some of us at 24Fps were fans of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, even if the majority of film fans chose to leave the breadcrumbs for the birds to devour. Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola has returned to his roots for his next project, and finally, the teaser trailer has arrived for Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, the sequel to his 2009 fan favourite. It soon becomes clear that the sequel picks up where the first movie left off, and the inclusion of footage from the original movie is a reminder of how much fun the first instalment was. Martin Starr, Derek Mears and Ingrid Haas star in this welcome follow up, featuring more gore, more comedy and more Nazi zombies. Synopsis: If the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your closest friends were...

Watch: Festival Teaser Trailer for 'Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead' Sequel
"Colonel Herzog is back, and he is not to be fucked with." The evil, blood thirsty undead Nazi zombies are back for more. Back at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival I caught and enjoyed (read my original review) a horror comedy called Dead Snow, which went on to become a cult hit in its own right. Now four years later and the series picks up again right where it left off in the sequel Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, featuring a cast lead by Martin Starr, Derek Mears, Amrita Acharia and Ingrid Haas. A few weeks prior to its Sundance premiere, the first festival teaser trailer has hit giving us a quick glimpse at the blood soaked snowy mayhem that will ensue. It's the perfect little tease to show us where we're at and guarantees I'll catch this at the fest. Here's the first festival teaser trailer for Dead Snow: Red vs.

The Festival Trailer for Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead
Sundance is looming and, this weekend, a trailer for the sequel Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead has landed with the sound of a decapitated head hitting the pavement. The film is making its premiere next month at the festival. The preview is loaded with footage from the first film, Dead Snow , but it's an amusing glimpse at what's to come (looks like someone has a "power arm"). In the sequel, the gruesome Nazi Zombies are back to finish their mission, but our hero is not willing to die. He is gathering his own army to give them a final fight. Vegar Hoel, Stig Frode Henriksen, Martin Starr, Ørjan Gamst, Ingrid Haas and Jocelyn DeBoer star. Tommy Wirkola directs.

Stare Down the International Poster for Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead
If Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is even half as fun as the first one, then I'd say we're all in for a treat. Tommy Wirkola's sequel premieres at Sundance this coming January, and we've got a shiny new international poster for ya today. It's got a Nazi zombie on it, so I approve.

Be sure to keep your eyes on the official 2014 Sundance Film Festival website for more info.

Martin Starr (This Is the End), Ingrid Haas (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), and Jocelyn Deboer ("Inside Amy Schumer") all have roles in the film, which will pick up where the first one left off.

Synopsis:

Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead follows the sole survivor of a Nazi zombie attack who battles an even larger army of zombies with the help of The Zombie Squad, a professional gang of zombie killers from the U.S.

The Zombies Come Marching in Latest Batch of Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead Stills
Dead Snow was a surprise hit when it premiered at Sundance several years ago, so it only seems right that its sequel, the horridly titled Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead, will rise up at the same cinematic place as its predecessor.

According to Variety the sequel to Dead Snow, which I reported earlier this year would carry the subtitle War Of The Dead will in fact be titled Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead.

Dead Snow 2 Casting Update and Title Change
Tommy Wirkola, director of upcoming Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead, adds three new cast members for another round of Nazi-zombie action: Martin Starr, Ingrid Haas and Jocelyn Deboer.

Dead Snow, written and directed by Wirkola back in 2009, found a gap in the popular zombie horror sub-genre in the form of Nazi zombies. After directing Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, the Norwegian filmmaker has now started work on Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead and has added new faces to the cast list, according to Variety.

Martin Starr recently played himself in comedy hit This Is The End and has also landed a spot on Zach Braff’s new project Wish I Were Here. Ingrid Haas starred in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Jocelyn Deboer’s credits include work on Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer.

Dead Snow 2 promises even more Nazi zombies as the survivor from the first film...

Dead Snow Sequel Adds Martin Starr And Others As Zombie Killing Americans
In the horror genre, it.s always more surprising when films don.t get sequels than when they inevitably do, especially on the indie front. So when it was announced that Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola would be revisiting Nazi zombie in a sequel to his 2009 cult hit Dead Snow, it only seemed strange that it hadn.t happened already. And honestly, we probably wouldn.t even be covering this film except that it has attracted the likes of Judd Apatow-world alum Martin Starr, reports Variety, along with comic actresses Ingrid Haas and Jocelyn Deboer. While that news is crazy enough on its own, they.ve also somehow decided to change the film.s name from Dead Snow 2: War of the Dead to the even more cringe-worthy Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead. My interest in Starr.s involvement was cut in half by that stupid ass title. Given...

Dead Snow (2009)
Dead Snow Sequel Casts First Victims
Dead Snow (2009)
After a sojourn in Hollywood (well, it was shot in Germany) with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola is returning to past glories for his next film. Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead is the follow-up to his 2009 Nazi-zombies epic Dead Snow, and Martin Starr, Ingrid Haas and Jocelyn Deboer have just been added to the cast roster."Ein! Zwei! Die!" was the memorable tagline of the original Raimi-influenced splatter comedy. The plot involved a gang of spring-breaking students stumbling upon some looted WWII treasure and incurring the wrath of the Reich revenants still jealously guarding it.The sequel originally went under the title War Of the Dead, but has presumably dropped that moniker in deference to the 2011 Finnish film of the same name. So it now sounds like a Rockstar western game instead. This time out, the story sees the sole survivor of the last encounter teaming...
