Why Didn't Francine Rhenquist Stick Around in The Simpsons?
Image
The Simpsons has a truly massive overall cast. While most of the show centers around the titular family, there are dozens of supporting characters that have received focus over the last thirty-four seasons. This isn't even counting the nearly countless minor characters who've appeared, some of whom had plenty of untapped potential as mainstay additions to the show.

Introduced during Season 12, Francine Rhenquist had the makings of a solid addition to The Simpsons' supporting cast. The female bully served a unique role as a direct antagonist to Lisa, having the potential to become a show mainstay as a foil to the good-intentioned and brainy young girl. However, Francine only ever had one major appearance in The Simpsons. Here's how Lisa almost got her own version of Nelson.

Lisa Simpson Takes a Ride on the Dark Side With Ursula and Loki in Disney+ Short ‘Welcome to the Club’
Image
Lisa Simpson discovers that villains really do have more fun in the new Simpsons animated short, “Welcome to the Club” on Disney+, which sees her hanging out with “Little Mermaid” baddie Ursula and Loki.

Tom Hiddleston, who previously appeared in the Simpsons/Marvel crossover short, “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki,” returns to voice the mischievous trickster god in the new four-minute short. Voice artist Dawn Lewis takes over the role of Ursula from Pat Carroll, who died earlier this year.

Ahead of the short film’s premiere on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 12:01 a.m. Pt, TheWrap spoke with “The Simpsons” writer/producer Al Jean, who joked he’s dying to do a NatGeo crossover. And since he’s a big fan of “Bluey,” it might not be a stretch to see Simpsons’ pooch Santa’s Little Helper hanging out with our favorite animated heelers.

UK pay-tv giant Sky unveils major push into film
Image
Sky plans to broadcast one new film a week from 2022.

UK pay-tv broadcaster Sky is to launch 30 new Sky Original films this year and will increase this to one a week from 2022 in a bid to become “the best home cinema service in the world”.

It represents a major push into film for the UK pay-tv operator, taking on streaming giants Netflix and Amazon as well as Disney, whose channels were removed from Sky last October following the launch of Disney+.

The plan to launch one original film per week from next year echoes a similar commitment made by Netflix earlier this month.

The Simpsons Movie 2 Will Happen at Disney Says Creator Matt Groening
Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, and Yeardley Smith in Les Simpson (1989)
Sure sounds like there is going to be The Simpsons Movie 2. Some day. As we all know good and well by this point in time, Disney recently snatched up the rights to all of 20th Century Fox's properties, including The Simpsons. And today we have word out of Comic-Con that The Simpsons creator Matt Groening feels there will no doubt be a sequel to 2007's The Simpsons Movie one of these days.

Why? Well, because Disney wants something for its money, of course. Specifically, Matt Groening revealed this speaking from Sdcc this weekend.

"No doubt there will be another Simpsons movie one of these days. I think Disney wants something for its money."

Nice! Now I don't know about you, but the idea of seeing another The Simpsons movie hit the big-screen has me all kinds of excited. After all, I have been a fan of the series since...
