Shogen was born on June 20, 1978 in Naha, Japan.
He made his film debut in Habu to genkotsu (2007), which described people in Okinawa during the postwar period. He starred as a Sanshin (Okinawan traditional guitar) player & the film was nominated at the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival. He then took a keen interest in learning realism acting & moved to New York in 2008.
Today, he actively takes part in various productions around the world. He's known as Young Goken in Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist (2014) & FBI agent Raye Penber in Death Note (2015). He also starred in the boxing film Gensan Punch (2021), directed by award-winning Filipino director Brillante Mendoza.
