    • Shuchi Talati is a filmmaker from India whose work explores gender, sexuality and home. She is a graduate of the American Film Institute where she was awarded the Women In Film endowment. Her short film Mae and Ash, about a tense open relationship, won numerous awards before becoming a Vimeo Staff Pick. Shuchi is now developing her first feature, Girls Will Be Girls, a coming-of-age, sexual awakening film set in a conservative boarding school in India. Girls was selected for the NFDC Co-Production Market and the Cine Qua Non Script Lab 2019. Additionally, Shuchi is in post-production for a short film about period (i.e. menstruation) sex, A Period Piece, produced by Esra Saydam.

      Shuchi is also a producer and recent credits include Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas for HBO, EP'ed by John Oliver and Ezra Edelman. The show interrogated the racially biased policing of communities of color and one of Shuchi's episodes was nominated for a GLAAD award. She lives and works in NYC where she co-chairs the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective and is a member of Kalakars and Brown Girls Doc Mafia.

Her short film, A Period Piece, about an afternoon of period sex, was selected for SXSW. Mae and Ash won numerous awards before becoming a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her debut feature film, Girls Will Be Girls, will premiere in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2024.

      Shuchi is an alum of Berlinale Talents and her work has been supported by grants and awards from Sørfond, Aide Aux Cinémas du Monde, New York State Council, Région Île-de-France, and others.

      Shuchi also works in documentary her story producing credits include the Emmy-nominated Being Mary Tyler Moore, which premiered at SXSW. Shuchi also story produced the vérité series We Are: Brooklyn Saints for Netflix directed by Rudy Valdez, and Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas for HBO, where one of her episodes was nominated for a GLAAD Award.

      She is a graduate of the American Film Institute. She lives in NYC and is a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective, the Bitchitra Collective and the Freelance Solidarity Project.
