Paul Laight is a London-based screenwriter, producer, director and blogger. He studied film at Staffordshire University and Royal Holloway University of London before forming Fix Film Ltd in 2005. He has written, directed and produced many shorts and promos to date. He has worked on many projects and promos by the Mountview Film Academy, Northern Film School, Raindance Film School and worked with directors such as Jonathan Wolff, Ate De Jong, Philip Wolff, Gary O'Brien and Simon Hunter.
Paul is a versatile and prolific writer with ideas in abundance and a very strong feel for structure, characterisation and dialogue. He favours thought-provoking and entertaining narratives with memorable characters, images and scenes. He tends toward genre films and has made horror, comedy, war, drama, thriller and romance movies. Such films have been screened at festivals worldwide including Raindance, Unrestricted View Film Festival, Lulea International Film Festival, Horror-on-Sea Film Festival, Exploding Cinema, Treklanta Fan Film Festival and many more. He is a true independent filmmaker and being involved in the producing, casting and crewing of low budget shorts has given him great insight into the filmmaking process and improved his writing no end.
