The streamer announced the production update with a behind-the-scenes first look at the new season, which sees lead stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario getting into character and walking to set, while Guy Ritchie — who is back in the director's chair for at least one episode — counts them down from five. Fans have been left waiting for any updates about the second season of Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen. And while we now have a promising update, it could mean fans will be left waiting even longer before returning to this caper about an aristocrat and his drug empire.

As per a report by Screen Global Production, The Gentlemen Season 2 has only just started filming, with the Netflix production returning to the United Kingdom for the follow-up. Much like its predecessor, the second season will consist of eight episodes but, while the series was officially renewed back in August last year, it has taken a while before getting it in front of cameras. Meaning audiences are likely looking at a 2026 release date.

Shout! Studios said that, by acquiring Gravitas Ventures, the company will gain access to over 3,300 scripted, non-scripted, and sports-related feature films, documentaries, and television shows. The plan is for Shout! Studios and Gravitas Ventures to operate as two distinct brands, with each one will distributing content from its respective catalogue.

“Gravitas represents the next step in our continued expansion of the catalogue at Shout. We are excited to join forces with the Gravitas team and see several opportunities to expand distribution of the combined library,” said Garson Foos, CEO of Shout! Studios.

Shout! Studios is backed by Oaktree Capital Management. The company’s library includes “The Carol Burnett Show” and “Mystery Science Theatre 3000,” as well as films from Gkids and Studio Ghibli.

You’d have to go all the way back to 2000’s Snatch for the last Guy Ritchie project that I awaited with unabashed anticipation.

At the time, Ritchie was coming off of the sleeper success of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and he seemed like one of the freshest young voices in British cinema. Of course, Ritchie followed Snatch with Swept Away, setting off a prolific and unpredictable career of hits and misses (more the latter than the former).
