Biography

Lee-Anne Summers is a local and international actress, best known in South Africa for her role in the 2007 cinema hit, Big Fellas (2007).

Lee-Anne started her acting career at age 5 when she was picked out of a crowd to star in a TV commercial for Walt Disney World. At St Andrews school in Johannesburg, Lee-Anne studied Drama throughout High school and was involved in the productions of Oliver, The Crucible, The Frog Prince and The Hitchhiker. She was also a dancer for most of her early life and even appeared on stage for the Free Flight Dance Company. Like Charlize Theron, her dance career also came to an early end when she fractured her back during training for the school diving team. Before embarking on a professional acting career, Lee-Anne attended UCT where she studied psychology. After graduating, she moved to New York to study acting full time at the New York Film Academy, where she scored top honors and starred in numerous short films.

She has appeared on stage in New York in Labute's The shape of things, The Children's hour, Agnes of God and Proof. Lee-Anne's first role on returning to South Africa was in Darrell Roodt's movie Prey with Bridget Mongahan. She went on to play the role of a neurologist in the Docudrama To Be First (2007) and took on the task of playing triplets in the South African movie Big Fellas (2007).

In 2008 she graced Holland's small screen with her role as Anneke Keppel in the mini series Stellenbosch (2007).

Lee-Anne will be filming the Bollywood movie, Season's Greetings later this year before heading off to Australia for a few months next year to star in a psychological thriller alongside some of Australia's hottest acting talent.

Some of her other acting credits include Passport, For a Moment, Born Again, Cave TV, Southern Gentleman, Wonderful Tonight and The Day of the Junkie.

Lee-Anne Summers is a South African -born actress, model, producer and entrepreneur. After graduating from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor in Psychology, she moved to New York where she studied acting full-time at the New York Film Academy. In 2010, Summers received a gold diploma (96%) from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Her acting career spans film, TV and stage with roles in productions including the BBC's To Be First, the German film Geheiminis Der Wale, which starred Christopher Lambert of Highlander fame, and as triplets in the 2007 South African comedy feature film Big Fellas. One of the most recognizable faces on South African television, Summers has appeared on the country's most-loved TV shows including drama series Binnelanders, soap opera Rhythm City and the 7-part mini series, Stellenbosch, set in the Cape Town wine region. Summers' theatre credits in South Africa include the lead role of Abby Prescott in Neil Labute's The Mercy Seat at the Nassau Theatre in Cape Town and most recently the supporting role of Jeannie in the Labute play, Fat Pig at both On Broadway Cape Town and the Theatre on the Square in Johannesburg. The multi-talented actress not only starred in but also produced Fat Pig through her production company 8B Productions. 8B Productions has been responsible for a number of theatre and feature film efforts, and Big Fellas, the very first feature film Summers produced, was nominated for five South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA's), including one win. Summers is an accomplished MC, having hosted a number of events including the Bar One Manhunt auditions in Cape Town, the Race Against Extinction Charity Auction and the Girl's Night Out Function for Glamour magazine. She has modeled for leading fashion houses and brands including Prada, Lanvin, Max Mara, Sunglass Hut and Etro and was ranked 27th on the FHM Sexiest Women in the world poll (2012) and nominated in the style category for the G-Sport for Girls awards. A passionate philanthropist, Summers has worked with Johannesburg Child Welfare, the Sarah Fox Convalescent Hospital, Reach of a Dream, Saving Private Rhino and the Princess Anne Orphanage in South Africa. Lee-Anne has two films coming out next year, The Little Kings and the American movie, Safari, which she recently finished filming with Oscar nominated director Darrell Roodt.
