15 Great Hogwarts Students Who Were Cut From the Harry Potter Movies
Image
Harry Potterimmerses readers in a vast world full of fleshed-out characters. The books, often set in Hogwarts, quickly familiarize readers with plenty of students from all the houses, who, in their specific way, enrich the Wizarding World experience. However, with their limited screen time, the Harry Potter movies understandably left aside some exceptional Hogwarts students.

Some outstanding, courageous and funny characters, such as Ernie Macmillan and Hannah Abbott, made it into the movies but didn't get their deserved screen time or development. Hannah Abbott, for example, goes on to marry Neville Longbottom. Others, like Anthony Goldstein, didn't even make it as a background character. Hopefully, the Harry Potter reboot will shed more light on Hogwarts' varied and fascinating student body.

Updated on March 17, 2024, by Andrea Sandoval: While the Harry Potter movies did a great job adapting some of the most iconic characters in Harry Potter, they didn't have the...

The Harry Potter series follows the titular wizard and his adventures at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Several other youngsters play important roles in the story, such as Neville Longbottom, Ginny Weasley, Draco Malfoy, and Luna Lovegood.

There are potentially hundreds of students populating Hogwarts Castle. Many of them are mentioned at varying degrees of importance, such as fellow Gryffindors, members of the Quidditch teams, members of Dumbledore's Army,...

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Characters Similar to Harry Potter Characters
Image
Wistoria: Wand and Sword follows the journey of Will Serfort as he attempts to graduate from Rigarden Magical Academy and ascend the mages tower to become a Magia Vander like his childhood friend, Elfaria Albis Serfort. However, in a world run by magic, Will lacks any sort of magical aptitude, making him a blight upon his campus and scorned by the other mages around him. Despite the seemingly insurmountable odds standing against him, Will intends to prove them all wrong and join Elfaria at the top of the tower.

While an original work written by Fujino mori, Wistoria: Wand and Sword contains many characters with similar design, aesthetics and mannerisms to characters from the Harry Potter franchise. From the charismatic sports commentating of Mike Maius and Lee Jordan to the broody, cruel professors Edward Serfence and Severus Snape, both franchises include characters that mirror the other quite strongly.

10 Minor Harry Potter Characters The TV Remake Can Finally Explore In More Depth
Image
Enjoying the Harry Potter TV show will mean finally understanding why minor characters like Bill Weasley and Oliver Wood are so important. The Harry Potter series' cultural impact is undeniable, but the TV show has a chance to fill in the gaps left by the original films. Characters like Peeves and Madam Poppy Pomfrey had significant roles in the books, and the TV show should give them the recognition they deserve.

The upcoming Harry Potter TV show has the opportunity to include some brilliant minor characters that the original films failed to focus on. HBO's Harry Potter TV show will once again tell the story of Hogwarts' Golden Trio Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, who were played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in the original movies. The Harry Potter books were groundbreaking upon their release and created an incredible cultural impact worldwide, with audiences falling...

Harry Potter: 10 Darkest Things the Death Eaters Did, Ranked
Image
It's important to remember the ongoing controversial statements by the creator of the Harry Potter franchise. Cbr supports the hard work of industry professionals on properties fans know and love, and the wider world of Harry Potter that fans have adopted as their own. You can find Cbr's continuing coverage on Rowling here.

According to Albus Dumbledore, the Death Eaters in Harry Potter have always been "a motley collection" of wizards and witches, "gravitating toward a leader who could show them more refined forms of cruelty." Voldemort ensures their enduring loyalty by promising them the world, while simultaneously threatening them with dire consequences if they even dream about leaving his service.

Most Death Eaters place a high value on their genetic heritage, explaining why they look down on Muggle-borns and Squibs. Lord Voldemort may be "the most dangerous Dark wizard of all time," but even his formidable magical prowess isn't enough to secure victory.

Harry Potter: 10 Death Eaters Fans Could Beat In A Fight
Image
The Death Eaters pose a significant threat within the Harry Potter franchise, with Voldemort's loyal allies committed to the cause of establishing pure-blood supremacy. These imposing figures are among the Wizarding World's deadliest witches and wizards, sparking fear within the magical community. However, despite striking an intimidating presence, some of the franchise's biggest fans believe they could take on these despicable individuals, with Universal Studios Orlando offering viewers the chance to take on this nefarious group at their "Dark Arts At Hogwarts Castle" event (via Mugglenet).

Harry Potter's online community reckon they could emerge triumphant against these Death Eaters during a fight, as they assist the Aurors in stopping their evil plans. These avid viewers think these dark wizards are a less significant threat than they appear, with their attempts to establish a new world order within the magical community having failed miserably during Jk Rowling's fantasy saga.

Game of Thrones (2011)
Geeky pop culture fans, prepare to feel all sorts of emotions, because we've made a very important discovery: two stars from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones are longtime BFFs. Nathalie Emmanuel, who stars as Daenerys Targaryen's right-hand woman, Missandei, on the popular HBO series, counts Luke Youngblood as one of her closest pals. You might remember Luke from his role as Lee Jordan, the Weasley twins' best friend and the most energetic Quidditch announcer at Hogwarts, throughout the Harry Potter films. So how did this heartwarming connection between Harry Potter and Game of Thrones come to be? Through Disney, naturally! (Seriously, this friendship is a fan's dream come true.) "I met this guy at 10 years old when we played Young Simba and Nala in The Lion King [musical] in London in 1999," Nathalie wrote in an Instagram post for Luke's birthday, adding: "We have been supporting and celebrating each other through this crazy game ever since!

High School Sweethearts' Reunion Prompts Man to Lose 275 Lbs.
When Lee Jordan met up with his high school girlfriend, Beth Schwein, at a Starbucks in Herndon, Va., after more than 20 years apart, he was nervous. He hadn't just lost some hair and gained a little weight - he was bald and he weighed 450 lbs. He could only imagine what her reaction would be when she saw how much he'd changed from the 165-lb. boy with a full head of hair she'd fallen in love with. "People look at you with sadness. Horror. Pity," Jordan, now 50, tells People. "And this was the love of my life. I couldn't stomach her looking at me that way.

Five More Things J.K. Rowling Should Regret About How Harry Potter Ended
J.K. Rowling at an event for Harry Potter et les Reliques de la Mort : partie 1 (2010)
Over the weekend, author J.K. Rowling admitted that she regrets pairing off Hermione and Ron in Harry Potter. No kidding, J.K. — many of us have regretted that choice for years. Ron's such a dope, and Hermione's so precise; Rowling even says that the two would need "relationship counseling." As long as she's airing regrets, there are a few more items for J.K. to reconsider. It's not too late!1. Luna and Hermione should have hooked up at least once. The combination of high-stress situations, a British boarding school, constant impending doom, and a feeling of deep allegiance would have led to a lot more shenanigans among the members of Dumbledore's Army. And if the opposites-attract argument works for Ron and Hermione, it works even better for Luna and Hermione. No shame in experimenting! 2. We should know what happened to Lee Jordan. I know, I know — he becomes Magnitude on Community.

New Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Poster Featuring Hermione
It's just under two months until the final installment of Harry Potter is released in theaters, and Warner Bros is definitely ramping up for it. Monday, a new poster with Daniel Radcliffe as Harry was released. Tuesday was Emma Watson's turn. It's similar to the Harry release in that it is mostly a closeup of Hermione with just a glimpse of the background, but in this one we can see a bit more of the demolished Hogwarts and some students (maybe Lee Jordan and Cho Chang among them?) as well. The pic was released on the Harry Potter Facebook page, as well as on twitter. Hopefully there'll be a Ron Weasely poster today.

Also released this week was a new still featuring everyone's favorite Transfiguration teacher, Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith) in EW. She's looking determined as a whole passel of Weasleys and countless students back her up. And some...

'Harry Potter' Refresher: Inside 'Order Of The Phoenix'
Rupert Grint, Matthew Lewis, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, and Evanna Lynch in Harry Potter et l'Ordre du Phénix (2007)
We're all about "Harry Potter" this week at MTV Movies Blog, and we figure there is no better way to celebrate the beginning of the end of the beloved franchise than by looking back at the six previous films.

So each day this week we've been providing recaps of the earlier "Harry Potter" movies. Consider them a kind of affectionate Cliff's Notes and a much-need refresher to prepare for the November 19 release of "Deathly Hallows: Part 1." We've already brought you up to speed on "Sorcerer's Stone," "Chamber of Secrets," "Prisoner of Azkaban" and "Goblet of Fire," so we suggest you catch up before diving into the fifth installment of the "Potter" saga, "Order of the Phoenix," also known as "Harry Potter Goes Through Puberty."

"Order of the Phoenix" is one of the darkest films (and novels) in the entire series, and part of that comes from the fact that it...

S&A Faces Of The Future…?
Much has been made over the last week or so of best leading actress Oscar nominee, Gabourey Sidibe – her weight, and the likelihood (or not) of her having a long and successful career ahead of her. However, what seems to have been overlooked is that, whether or not you think she has talent as an actress or not (I think she has), she’s already achieved more acclaim for her one film role than most black actors can hope to achieve in a lifetime… and a couple more film and TV roles, to boot! So she’s already ahead of the game. How long she stays there though is anyone’s guess, but the same could be said of most black thesps, especially if film is their chosen medium… and even more especially if they have their sights set on Hollywood.

So what about lesser known black actors who’ve graced our screens recently,...
