Will Arnett in Murderville (2022)
Murderville: Will Arnett Improv Comedy Misses What Made the UK Original Great
Will Arnett in Murderville (2022)
Globalisation isn’t just about lax child labour laws lowering the price of t-shirts; it also has its downsides. Global markets have a tendency to replace local idiosyncrasy with the accessibly bland. Should, for instance, the makers of Sweden’s chocolate Plopp Bar ever branch out into English-speaking territories, they’d be forced to rename their product to something much less funny, and we’d all be the worse off for it.

Murderville, a US series based on BBC Three’s Murder in Successville, is worse off for just that reason. In the transatlantic translation of the semi-improvised detective comedy, a niche element has been dropped, and with it, much of the original’s charm. Here’s the premise: every episode, a celebrity guest is thrown amongst a regular cast of comedy actors to solve a murder alongside the lead detective. There’s a part-script for everybody but the celebrity,...

‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK 2×06’ Review
Image
Last weeks episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK will go down as one of the most memorable in episodes of Drag Race her-story! It started with all the queens been sent home and forced to quarantine for 7 months which was crazy; we had the return and second elimination of the international cabaret sensation Joe Black; and saw the premiere of one of the most annoyingly catchy songs to ever come for drag race. “U K Hun” by the United Kingdolls has been on loop for me since last week and made it to the #1 downloaded song on iTunes! We technically saw two eliminations last week as Veronica Green tested positive for the virus and so was unable to return to filming but was offered a free pass to next years competition. I recently discovered a video of Veronica Green singing on the BBC singing show “All Together Now...

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ 2 episode 6 recap: With three challenge wins is it already ‘game, set, Snatch’ for Lawrence Chaney?
Image
Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” Ru let the queens have it with a real kick in the arse. Both Tia Kofi and Joe Black, the latter of which had freshly reentered the race by a vote of her peers, were taken to task for leaving too much to be desired in their runway presentations. As two members of the losing girl group in the singing challenge, they found themselves in the bottom and lip syncing to stay. In the end, Tia bested Joe and sent the first eliminated queen home for a second time.

RuPaul Charles is back again to host the second season of the UK series alongside her longtime friend and collaborator Michelle Visage. They’re joined on the panel by entertainment legends Alan Carr and Graham Norton, as well as a collection of guest judges throughout the season. Read below for our recap of episode...

The Crystal Maze 2017 episode 3 review

Rylan Clark-Neal and pals take on The Crystal Maze for Stand Up To Cancer this week. Here’s how they got on…

Du du du duuuuurr Du-duh.

Du du du Duuuuurr Dur Dur Dur Dur Duh!

The Crystal Maze music alone makes me happy.

It isn’t just nostalgia. Aside from that time Dean Goodall’s mum ironed his shell suit then made him wear it to the year seven summer disco, the early nineties weren’t even that much fun. They were listless days that passed in a scrunchie-fuelled haze. Pogs came and pogs went. We drowned our ennui by drinking melted blue ice poles and doing the Time Warp. Again.

No, the joy of The Crystal Maze is intrinsic.

The Crystal Maze 2017 episode 2 review
Louisa Mellor Jun 30, 2017

The revived Crystal Maze is a winner, as its second Stand Up To Cancer celebrity special proves…

“I love The Crystal Maze!” said Joey Essex, once he’d worked out what one was and that he was in it. “Haven’t we revitalised the format?!” agreed Richard Ayoade enthusiastically, sadly putting Joey right back in the lap of confusion.

Ayoade and Essex, two very different kinds of men. Watching them try to converse can’t be unlike watching an owl try to mate with a suitcase. Having seen it now though, I just want more. Quick, someone commission a show in which the pair of them team up to fight crime or catch cowboy roofers or conduct a public vote for the nation’s best Center Parcs. Whatever it is, I know I wouldn’t be able to look away.

The Crystal Maze 2017 episode 1 review
Louisa Mellor Jun 23, 2017

The Crystal Maze is back with a new Maze Master, a new Futuristic Zone, and all the fun of the original...

You can question TV’s current Rosebud-like obsession with stuff that used to make us happy as kids all you like; the truth is that watching Richard Ayoade being wry to people dressed like ghostbusters is just good medicine. Watching Richard Ayoade in salmon pink corduroy being wry to minor celebrities dressed like ghostbusters is excellent medicine.

What would Westlife have looked like if Louie Spence was in charge? Brian McFadden finds out
There wasn't much dancing in Westlife, but Louie Spence has given us a taste of what might have been.

In a clip from this afternoon's (September 10) episode of celeb cookery game show Who's Doing the Dishes?, the Pineapple Dance Studios star teaches host and former boyband singer Brian McFadden some very sexy moves.

McFadden laments the fact that Spence never danced for his band, before the choreographer points out: "There wasn't a lot of dancing in Westlife, was there?

"A lot of chair action going on, wasn't there?"

The 'Real to Me' singer asks Spence whether he could have made them a bit sexier, to which the dancer knowingly replies, "Brian, really?" and proceeds to get involved in some "hip action".

Who's Doing the Dishes? involves four diners spending a week in different mystery celebrities' houses as they try to guess who is cooking their food, with clues given during the meal.

Hardy also gave his thoughts on who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman, ahead of the pair's much-anticipated face-off in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

"I would like to hold the pair of them underwater until the bubbles stop," he said, though he joked that he would be playing Pineapple Dance Studios star Louie Spence at the time.

Hardy is starring as both of the Kray twins in the drama Legend, which is released on Wednesday (September 9) in the UK, and on October 2 in the Us.

Steve-o is the latest celebrity to be eliminated from The Jump.

The Jump: Lady Victoria Hervey eliminated
Lady Victoria Hervey has left The Jump in a nail-biting 'jump-off'.

She had battled with her fellow contestants, particularly Jodie Kidd who admitted that she was shocked by how "nasty" Lady Victoria was to her.

The Jump's eliminees Dom Parker and Phil Tufnell have opened up about their exit from the competition tonight - promising that they'll reunite on Dom's upcoming chat show.

Speaking to reporters including Digital Spy in Austria after losing out to Jb Gill and Mike Tindall, the duo - who became "good mates" during training - explained that they would love to work together in the future.

"I'll invite him [on the show] - whether or not he turns up or not," Parker joked. "As long as he brings me a box of chocolates."

As Tufnell suggested that he could bring the drinks out, Parker agreed: "Yes, you can be the butler. Who's the celebrity butler today?"

Tufnell added that the duo could go on a skiing holiday together, with Parker adding: "We could do that. A bit of mountaineering, perhaps. We could take on the North Face of the Eiger or something, barefoot.

The Jump 2015: Phil Tufnell and Dom Parker eliminated in first show
Phil Tufnell and Dom Parker are the first two celebrities to be eliminated from The Jump.

The two men failed to make it through to the next challenge after competing in a live jump-off.

The Jump live blog: Return of celebrity winter sports contest as it happened

The show began with the eight male celebrities being split into pairings to compete on the Skeleton track. The person from each pair with the lowest time was then required to take part in a live jump.

The two celebrities who provided the smallest jump then had to leave the competition.

First to face the jump was Mike Tindall, whose Skeleton track time of 46.08 seconds didn't beat Louie Spence's 44.79 seconds.

Tindall was joined on the ledge by cricketer Phil Tufnell, who lost out to Joey Essex on the Skeleton by less than a second.

The rugby player scored a live jump of 18m,...

The Jump secrets: Nervous vomit, girl power & Celebrity Suicide Watch
We're standing in a hotel in Innsbruck, Austria, and it is just over 24 hours until the very first live show of The Jump. Pleasingly, Dom Parker has lived up to his Gogglebox persona by wandering in with a glass of red wine, but we don't blame him for having a drink - he's been through the wars.

Dom was sent to hospital earlier in the week after he was suspected of having a concussion, but he's on the mend now - although his shoulder's still dodgy (as is Jb Gill's, who admitted he's frustrated he can't give 100% at the moment - though he did joke that none of the other Jls boys would have dared to do the show, with poor Marvin being dubbed the least likely to follow in Jb's footsteps).

But they're not the only contestants feeling the pain. "I fall over about 15 times a day," Phil Tufnell winced.

The Jump's Joey Essex: "Can you break your bum bones?"
Joey Essex is training hard for The Jump, and he's certainly feeling the strain...

The reality star failed to land a jump during training, and was convinced that he'd broken a bone in his bum.

The Jump: Everything you need to know about the stars

Obviously in pain, Essex asked producers: "Can you break your bum bones?"

The former Towie star is competing on the winter sports series alongside Jls singer Jb Gill, Made in Chelsea's Louise Thompson and dancer Louie Spence.

Asked what he is most looking forward to about The Jump, he said: "The skeleton, I think, will be good fun. I like things like that. Even as a little kid, on slides I'd always try and go down face first."

He also predicted that he would strike up a friendship out on the slopes with fellow competitor Steve-o, as he's "obviously a complete joker".

In the '80s, we got Countdown and Channel 4. In the '90s, we got the Spice Girls and Channel 5. In the '00s, we got Dave and Top Gear repeats.

And in the whatever-we-call-this-decade, we've got ITVBe and Towie. Lots and lots of Towie.

Not content with ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4, the broadcaster launches ITVBe this evening, a home for "entertainment and lifestyle" programming. That basically means more Towie.

Who would want to miss this momentous moment in broadcasting history? All the big guns - Jamelia, Mark Wright and Denise Van Outen - are involved at some point tonight, and we'll be sticking it out for the duration.

We'll be live blogging the whole evening from the Peter Andre kick-off at 7pm to the closing of the reem Towie party at 11pm - just dipping out in time to avoid Joe Swash on Celebrity Dinner Date.

Tricked: Ben Hanlin makes Louie Spence believe he's lost £100,000
An undercover Ben Hanlin deceived Louie Spence for the second episode of Tricked.

The magician posed as a director while Spence spent the day on a yacht, believing he was fronting a newspaper competition.

Spence was asked to stand by the side of the yacht, holding a case containing what he thought to be £100,000.

As the dancer posed with the case, it opened and sent the money into the ocean.

Hanlin asked a shocked Spence, "Are you okay just to say you did it? Is that alright?"

"Well I did do it, but it wasn't my fault," he retorted.

"I'm not going to be responsible for, how much went in there? It looks like about bleeding ten grand. I'm not going to give you bleeding ten grand."

"Well, it's a 100 grand," Hanlin told Spence.

A panicking Spence said: "You must be joking darling, I've just got a mortgage. You're not getting 100 grand out of me.

Love rats, Lycra & Les Dennis: 13 of the best Celebrity Big Brother stars
Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee in the hot tub with Gary Busey; Helen Flanagan weeping relentlessly in the Diary Room; and David McIntosh parading around in Those short shorts.... the possibilities for this series of Celebrity Big Brother are endless.

1. Jackie Stallone

"Yeah, Jackie," were the only two words uttered from the side of Jackie's heavily siliconed mouth as she entered the house, draped in fur and dripping in jewels. Her entrance soon became one of the most memorable moments from the entire series.

It was part-Jackie's presence, part-Jackie's face that really shocked Brigitte Nielsen back on the show in 2005 when her former mother-in-law entered the house on day five.

Fellow housemates had to refer to Jackie as the Queen Mother,...
