Every Movie Set In 2023
Image
2023 is set to be a huge year for film, but some movies have already given depictions of what 2023 could be like. The medium of film has always been used to predict what the future could look like for humanity, with classics like Back to the Future and 2001: A Space Odyssey getting audiences across the globe excited for what the future could have in store. With 2023 just around the corner, it's time to look back and see what every movie set in 2023 has predicted for the year ahead.

Out of the eight films that have depicted 2023, the majority of them take place in dystopian, war-torn societies, which speaks volumes about the direction that many filmmakers imagined humanity would go. All of these films, however, were released in the modern era of cinema, giving a representation of a year only a few years ahead of their own. Even so, not many...

Alien Rising Distracts and Nothing Else: A Movie Review
*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Breaking Glass Pictures. Director: Dana Schroeder. Writers: Michael Todd and Kenny Yakkel. Cast: Lance Henriksen, Amy Hathaway, John Savage, Brian Krause and Dave Vescio. Alien Rising is a sci-fi thriller, from director Dana Schroeder (Lost Soul). Previously titled Gemini Rising, this title was completed in 2013 and it is set to be released in 2015. Alien Rising is very CGI heavy and the film's believability suffers. Whole sets are completely constructed in post-production and the results look very poor. Starring Lance Henriksen and Amy Hathaway, Alien Rising is an indie sci-fi title that is more miss than hit. The story's logline sounds good. Alien research, involving telepathy, takes place in a volcano. But, the film is not as great as its premise. Instead, the film brings in an unneeded female protagonist, who is not really part of the research. She is...

Macaulay Culkin at an event for La 82e cérémonie des Oscars (2010)
Film Boss Pays Tribute To Culkin's 'Humble' Sister
Macaulay Culkin at an event for La 82e cérémonie des Oscars (2010)
A film director who worked with Macaulay Culkin's sister Dakota before her tragic death has paid tribute to the Home Alone star's older sibling - remembering her as a "humble" young woman.

The 29-year-old stepped in front of a car in West Los Angeles just before 11pm on Tuesday, according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French.

She was rushed to UCLA hospital with massive head trauma and died the following day.

Prior to her death, Culkin was trying to break into film production, and landed a behind-the-cameras role on independent movie Lost Soul.

The film's director, Dana Schroeder, recalls: "Dakota was very humble. She didn't want to get in front of the cameras, she wanted to work behind the scenes."

A pal of Dakota Culkin tells People.com, "She was very low key, but at the same time proud of her siblings. She was very close to Macaulay. They would talk frequently on the phone or go out to eat.

"All of us who knew and worked with Dakota are in deep shock. It was a total freak accident."

Culkin, 28, has five other siblings: Shane, 32, actor Kieran, 26, Quinn, 24, Christian, 21, and actor Rory, 19.

Macaulay's sister, who was killed in a traffic accident, was "a real sweetheart, a really good kid," says Dana Schroeder, a director who recently worked with the one-time art production assistant on an independent film Lost Soul."Dakota was very humble," Schroeder tells People. "She didn't want to get in front of the cameras, she wanted to work behind the scenes." Culkin, 29, was accidentally struck by a car in L.A. Tuesday night, and died the next day. No crime was committed, police say. A close friend of Culkin's,...
