In advance of the Top 8 performing on May 13, we polled viewers of “The Voice” to see who they want to win season 16. Their first choice in our best to work power rankings is Maelyn Jarmon, who has racked up an impressive 35% of the total tally as of this writing. She is being coached by rookie John Legend. Close behind with 31% is Gyth Rigdon, who is on Team Blake Shelton. A win by him would bring Blake that long-elusive seventh victory on the show. None of the other six artists still in the competition merit double digit support.

Say what you will about Season 16 of The Voice — and we have! — it’s wound up with a pretty good Top 13. So good, in fact, that when I went to take TVLine’s poll following last week’s bloodbath, I couldn’t pick an eliminated contestant that I would’ve been super mega eager to save. American Idol’s season 13 finale on Wednesday night featuring finalists Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson included a number of performances by the two remaining contestants – as well as from eliminated contestants, the judges and a host of well-known talent.

Alex Preston was first up, singing “Sweater Weather” by The Neighborhood. Preston was strong vocally, hitting all of his notes with a bit more power than usual. The judges weren’t bothered that Preston didn’t change up the song too much. They did, however, encourage him to focus on bringing more energy and range to his performances.

Preston’s second number was A Great Big World’s “Say Something,” which proved to be even more successful than his first number. Alex, Jena, Caleb, Cj, Jessica and Sam will each sing one song dubbed "Country" and another song deemed "Rock."  Two quick thoughts: 1) Dexter Roberts picked the wrong week to go home. If ever a theme would have helped ease Dexter along in his "Idol" genre, this would have been it. 2) For all of the Judges' Save thing, this week's theme seems to doom Sam Woolf, doesn't it? I continue to suspect that Jena, Caleb and Alex are in their own voting class. And of the remaining three singers, who can pretty much go home in any order as far as I'm concerned, two of them can be comfortably classed in a country-rock niche and the other one is Sam Woolf. Either we're about to see some impressive theme cheating from Sam, or else he's doomed before he begins.

He was only in the Bottom 3 once before, but during Top 7 week on American Idol, Dexter Roberts managed to not only land in the Bottom 2 but also be eliminated from the competition.

Dexter talked with reporters, including BuddyTV, about his time on the show, advice from the judges and guest mentors, how he ended up auditioning and his plans for the future. Also, which of his competitors did he know before Idol? Read on to find out.

Dexter Roberts doesn't have any music-related regrets about his time on American Idol, but he is disappointed that he didn't have a chance to get revenge on fellow contestant Sam Woolf for pranking him earlier in the season.

"He zip-tied me to a chair at this restaurant [by] my belt loop," Roberts tells TVGuide.com. "So, when I got up, I took the chair with me. So I was like, yeah, I'm going to get him. But I never did. ... When the tour comes, [he's] getting it."

As he exits "American Idol" after making it as far as the Top 7, Dexter Roberts has a mature, even a grateful, attitude about the journey he's taken as a music artist. "I've learned a lot from all of my vocal coaches," he tells Gold Derby. "I've learned to hold notes longer and when to break out and sing a certain part.
