Star Jones is joining Fox’s Divorce Court as a judge beginning in September. She will preside over all cases brought to mediation, ranging from divorce court proceedings to other domestic disputes.

A new version of syndicated daytime courtroom series “Divorce Court” has come to order. Judge Lynn Toler is out after 13 years behind the bench, and Judge Faith Jenkins is in. While the split appears to be amicable, “Divorce Court” needed to try anything and everything to divorce itself from its poor Nielsen ratings. In the most recent week available of national-syndication ratings, the one ending on Feb. 23, 2020, “Divorce Court” tied for 71st place out of 104 shows, posting a weak 0.68 national household rating, according to Nielsen. Faith Jenkins is approaching the “Divorce Court” bench: Judge Faith is set to replace longtime “Divorce Court” judge Lynn Toler on the syndicated daytime program in July.

Additionally, the series is relocating to midtown Atlanta, at the Georgia Public Broadcasting Studios. It had filmed nearby at Tyler Perry’s Atlanta studio following a 2018 relocation from Los Angeles.

“We are confident that Judge Faith’s energy and passion for each case will build on the legacy of this program created by the exceptional talents of Judge Mablean and Judge Lynn Toler,” Stephen Brown, executive vice president of programming for Fox Television Stations, said in a statement on Thursday.

Exclusive: There will be a new judge presiding over Divorce Court. Former Judge Faith star Faith Jenkins will headline the long-running syndicated program effective July 2020. She will succeed Judge Lynn Toler who has departed after 13 years on the show.

On Divorce Court, produced by Lincolnwood Productions and distributed by Fox First Run, Jenkins will provide judgement for all the cases brought to mediation on the program, ranging from divorce court proceedings to other domestic disputes. She is only the third arbitrator on the program since its 1999 relaunch, following Mablean Ephriam (1999-2006) and Lynn Toler (2006-2019).

Jenkins has a syndicated court show experience as the star of Judge Faith, which ran for four years, from 2014-2018.

Twentieth Television and Fox Television Stations have announced that syndicated court show Divorce Court has been renewed for another season. This will keep the series on the air through 2016-17.

Judge Lynn Toler presides over the show which is currently in its 15th season. This incarnation of Divorce Court was launched in 1999. The original Divorce Court started in the 1950s and featured actors reenacting divorce proceedings.

"In the current landscape where many shows have declining ratings, we are thrilled to have a long-running program on an opposite trajectory," said Stephen Brown, executive vice-president of development and programming of the Fox Television Stations. "Renewing the series was an easy decision to make."

The syndicated daytime show Divorce Court has been renewed through the 2016-17 season, Twentieth TV and Fox Television stations announced today. The show, currently celebrating its 15th anniversary season, is also set to return on Sinclair television stations. During the recent February sweeps, Divorce Court hit a four-season ratings high; rising +38% versus the comparable sweeps month a year ago (1.8 Hh vs 1.3 Hh), according to Twentieth TV. Additionally during this sweeps month, Divorce Court hit a seven-year viewer high – averaging nearly 3 million viewers per episode – a +49% increase over a year ago. Judge Lynn Toler presides over the real-life courtroom drama which is produced by Lincolnwood Drive and distributed by Twentieth TV.

Divorce Court is in its third revival and started in 1957 as a drama with actors re-enacting real divorce court proceedings. The current version started in 1999 with Mablean Ephriam on the bench, is unscripted and shows real-life couples. Toler took over in 2006.

Divorce Court will remain in session through the 2014-15 season, producers 20th Television announced Tuesday. The legal franchise -- currently celebrating its 15th anniversary season -- has been renewed through 2014-15 and will continue to run on Fox Television, Tribune, Sinclair, Meredith and Scripps-Howard stations The news comes after Divorce Court -- with Judge Lynn Toler -- delivered its highest November sweep average since 2010, rising 23 percent versus the same period a year ago (1.6 household rating vs. 1.3). Court will be in session for a 16th season on Twentieth Television’s Divorce Court. The syndicated daytime court show has been renewed through 2014-15, Twentieth TV announced today. The show is set to return on Fox stations, as well as Tribune, Sinclair, Meredith, and Scripps-Howard stations. Divorce Court, starring Lynn Toler, is the longest-running court show. It is produced by Monet Lane Prods. and distributed by Twentieth Television. Gail Steinberg serves as executive producer.

Twentieth Television's Paul Franklin made the announcement about the weekday series via press release. Both shows are cleared in 75% of the country, including Fox affiliates in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas. Both shows also return to stations owned by Tribune, Sinclair, CBS, Local TV, Belo. and Newport.

Judge Alex is currently in its seventh season and features cases that are presided over by Judge Alex E. Ferrer, a former police officer, lawyer, and Florida judge. The series debuted on September 12, 2005.

Divorce Court features Judge Lynn Toler and is currently in its 13th season. The series debuted on March 30, 1999 and Mablean Ephriam ruled the court until 2006.

Twentieth Television’s syndicated daytime court shows Divorce Court and Judge Alex have been renewed through the 2013-14 season. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 38th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy® Awards in a grand gala for over 1,000 attendees at the Westin Bonaventure, in downtown Los Angeles.

This weekend, the Los Angeles Convention Center played host to the Reality Rocks Expo, a sort of Comic-Con for reality TV fans. The convention promised intimate access to such luminaries as the goths with the pink hair from 'The Amazing Race' (Kent and Vyxsin), Judge Lynn Toler from 'Divorce Court,' and early 'American Idol' castoffs.

Though our friend Andy Dehnart at Reality Blurred reports that the staff projected an audience of 15,000 attendees, come convention weekend, nobody actually showed up. There are several courtroom shows on the air right now, no doubt. But in our humble opinion, none are as entertaining as "Divorce Court" with Judge Lynn Toler. 

Hats off to the casting directors of this series. It's a straight-up comedy as far as we're concerned.

Talk shows like Bonnie Hunt and Oprah Winfrey may be going away but it looks like the court shows are here to stay. Twentieth Television has announced that Divorce Court and Judge Alex have each been renewed for two more years, taking each through the 2011-12 season.

Divorce Court has had a long history on the small screen, in three incarnations. It ran for 12 years, from 1957 until 1969, and then came back for another seven years beginning in 1985. The current incarnation has been on the air since 1999 and Judge Lynn Toler leads the on-air proceedings.

Comparatively, Judge Alex is a newcomer, having been on the air since 2005. The court cases are presided over by Alex Ferrer, a former police officer, attorney, and Florida judge.
