It was claimed by the crew that he and co-star Ed Allenby drank over 400 pints of 'unbelievably strong Petra lager' between them in a week while filming in Um Qais, Jordan. This has never been confirmed but Allenby said on his return he remembered very well the journey there and back 'but nothing in between'.
