Kate Bowman was born in Baltimore, MD to Fran Levin Bowman, an educator who specialized in dyslexia and John Bowman, a dentist and oral pathologist. She attended The Boston Conservatory, receiving a degree in Musical Theatre. Kate performed in theaters in Maryland, New York City, Arizona, and Los Angeles. She has won multiple awards for her theater roles. Some favorite theater roles include Catherine in "Proof", Chrissy in "In the Boom Boom Room", Cathy in "The Last Five Years", Joanne in "Rent", and playing over 15 different characters in the one-woman show "Louise in Charlestown", written by Penny Jackson.
