Franklin Tate Ammons was born on February 4, 1977, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Richard and Brenda Ammons. After his father retired from the Navy, the family moved back to Franklin, Tennessee, near generational roots. Just like his two older brothers, sports was a major part of his youth. He received a scholarship to play soccer at Western Kentucky University. He also attended East Tennessee State University where he joined Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and graduated with a finance degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
He worked part-time at the local cinema during college. Ripping tickets, making popcorn, and watching countless films derailed his future as a financial advisor. After working as Mark Ruffalo's photo double on The Last Castle and two years of acting classes, he moved to Los Angeles. His first role was on Days of Our Lives. He then transitioned to more edgier roles: a criminal on Justified, an addict on Ray Donovan, an outlaw on Shadow On The Mesa.
More recently his focus on filmmaking has taken precedence. His first feature film, Devil's Darlin', is in post-production and scheduled for release early 2024. He had the pleasure of working with his son, Jack Ammons, and daughter, Pearl Ammons, on the project. This life changing experience wouldn't have been brought to fruition if it wasn't for his production partner and wife, Andrea Orbeck.
