Tina Robinson(I)

  • Actress
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Tina Cox (née Robinson) has been in the entertainment industry since she was 15 years old after securing her first professional acting role alongside Judy Davis in the award winning film "My Brilliant Career".

Tina was captured by the experiences she had on that film set and was drawn to the craft of acting and enrolled in and completed a 4 year Acting Diploma at Sydney Acting School. This was closely followed with a role of Freda in the iconic film Puberty Blues where she worked directly with acclaimed Australian director Bruce Beresford.

Soon after Tina moved to Melbourne where she worked extensively with Crawford Productions; the major production company in Australian TV at the time. Tina took roles in Aussie soaps such as Cop Shop and Sons and Daughters as well as being picked up for several ABC productions including Menotti and Missing Persons Special Investigation Bureau.

A move back to Sydney gave Tina the freedom to pursue her love of music. She established a band 'Tina Robinson and Mixed Co' and was the lead singer and choreographer. The band enjoyed success with two consecutive Australian Music Industry Mo Awards for Cabaret Act of the Year. Not one to do things in halves, Tina joined a couple of other styles of bands to enjoy the well paying corporate scene as well as comparing live shows for Warner Bros. At this stage of her career Tina also expanded into writing, directing and choreographing live shows on the Sydney Club scene.

Evolving into teaching gave Tina a whole new sense of pride. This developed by watching young people's confidence grow under her tutelage at her own drama school and then as head drama teacher at Johnny Young Talent School Sydney. A move the Central Coast to raise her 3 wonderful children was then next evolution in Tina's life where she joined the Mad Cow Theatre Company and has been happily nestled for the last 5 years. Tina's energized and supportive nature allows students of all ages to connect with her easily and therefore grow exponentially.
