Where to Watch ‘Conclave’ as the Real Conclave Begins
Image
How is a new pope selected when needed? Well, an election is held at the Vatican. But there’s quite a bit of secrecy surrounding it. In “Conclave,” that secrecy is the focus of everything, following the mysterious process while untangling a proper Vatican mystery in the process.

Starring Ralph Fiennes, the film tells the story of one Cardinal who’s in charge of leading the process to elect a new pope after the original unexpectedly dies. But in doing so, he discovers a whole lot of unexpected information about his peers.

The film comes from “All Quiet on the Western Front” director Edward Berger, has a knockout cast and has become a significant awards frontrunner. Most recently, “Conclave” took home Best Film at the BAFTAs, and claimed prizes from the Art Director’s Guild and the Costume Designers Guild, as well as the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Ambition overrides loyalty as the search for a new Pope excelarates in the latest Conclave trailer
Image
Lord Acton once said, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority.” I wonder if the members of the cloth plotting in the latest Conclave trailer are familiar with this passage. Lucky for them, director Edward Berger is ready to school them as a wicked plot to influence the appointment of a new Pope unfolds. Imagine being the person who appoints the next Pope after the sudden passing of a world-famous and beloved figure. No, thank you. What if we add a conspiracy to the mix? Clutch your prayer beads tightly, folks; it will be a vicious contest.

Here’s the official synopsis for Conclave courtesy of Focus Features:

Focus Features’ ‘Conclave’ Going A Week Earlier This Fall & Wide
Image
Exclusive: After a strong reception on the fall film fest scene, Edward Berger’s Vatican thriller, Conclave, starring Ralph Fiennes is going one week earlier via Focus Features on Oct. 25. The pic was previously dated on Nov. 1. Coming away from the fests, Conclave currently scored 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Not to mention, Conclave, will be going wide in 1,500 theaters in order to hook a broader audience access to the film on opening weekend as opposed to its earlier platform release plan. Conclave will be in about a third of the theaters than Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance that weekend, and will serve as the alternative to older skewing adults.

Conclave made its world premiere at Tellruide, followed by its International Premiere at TIFF. The pic is also scheduled to open the Mill Valley Film Festival on Oct. 3 and will celebrate its UK premiere at the London Film Festival on Oct.

Conclave | Edward Berger’s drama heading to UK cinemas in November
Edward Berger
Edward Berger’s papal drama Conclave is scheduled to hit UK cinemas in late November. More on the film below.

The trailer for Conclave, Edward Berger’s upcoming drama set in the Vatican, was released last month and we’re intrigued by its premise. Ralph Fiennes leads an impressive ensemble cast in this story about choosing the next Pope. As if that wasn’t dramatic enough, it seems that there’s a hint of conspiracy going on too.

When the trailer landed, we didn’t have a set release date for the film, but that has now been rectified. Conclave will officially hit UK screens on 29th November.

Here’s the trailer, to refresh your memory.

There’s not a whole more to this story. We simply wanted to let you know when the film is coming out, but to please the Seo lords, we’ll waffle on a bit longer.

Conclave | Trailer lands for star-packed papal drama
Edward Berger
Edward Berger’s follow-up to All Quiet On The Western Front is Conclave – and here’s the trailer for the movie.

Off the back of the huge critical success of 2022’s All Quiet On The Western Front, director Edward Berger likely found himself with lots of options.

The director is certainly enjoying a bit of a moment, with some sources suggesting that he could be given the keys to the James Bond franchise next and tasked with successfully conceiving a new 007 to fill the rather large (and impeccably tasteful) shoes vacated by Daniel Craig.

Whether that comes to pass or not though, Berger’s next film to release will be Conclave, a papal drama set in the Vatican that centres around the secret process of selecting a new Pope after the death of the previous incumbent.

The filmmaker has drawn on some heavyweight talent for this adaptation. The source material is a Robert Harris book,...
