Paramount Pictures and Cirque du Soleil jointly announced today that the studio has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the Cirque du Soleil 3D feature film entitled Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away. Written and directed by Andrew Adamson (Shrek, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe), and executive produced by Academy Award winning filmmaker James Cameron, the 3D film event features artistic and acrobatic performances from some of the most elaborate Cirque du Soleil productions. The film was produced by Adamson, Aron Warner, Cirque's Martin Bolduc and Ed Jones and Cary Granat. Vince Pace oversaw the 3D stereo production aspect of the film.

A number of production companies collaborated to bring the film to life. In addition to Cirque, Warner and Adamson's Strange Weather Productions, Reel FX and Cameron Pace Group all contributed to this groundbreaking production.

The Dark Fields and Kids in America Added to Relativity Media's Slate
Relativity Media picks up three films for distribution Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh announced today that its films, The Dark Fields and Kids in America will be added to Relativity's film slate released by its own distribution team. The Warrior's Way will additionally be distributed as part of a rent-a-system deal with production companies Emerald City and Sad Flutes. Other upcoming Relativity titles include The Fighter, Skyline, Catfish and My Soul to Take, a film by Wes Craven. Relativity's distribution arm will also be releasing Jack Goes Boating, Let Me in, and Stone via a distribution deal with Overture.

Horror news site Bloody-Disgusting is announcing that Under the Mountain has been picked up by both Lightning Entertainment and Lionsgate Films for distribution in North America. The film involves two twins who discover "shape-shifting" creatures beneath a group of extinct volcanoes (Bloody). The trailer for the film, if you are unfamiliar, is below.

"Teenage twins Rachel and Theo investigate the creepy old house next door, they discover the Wilberforces - shape-shifting creatures that lurk beneath Auckland’s ring of extinct volcanoes.
