Biography

    • Greg DeLiso was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 25th, 1986. He is the only child of Michael and Sharon DeLiso and was almost lost at birth after a problem with the umbilical cord resulted in an emergency c-section. Raised in Detroit's northern suburbs and moving twice before the age of six the family arrived in Shelby TWP, Michigan in the summer of 1993.

After graduating from Eisenhower High School in 2004 at the age of 17 Greg relocated to New York City to attend the New York Film Academy. He remained in New York for the next seven years working as a freelance editor, videographer and director.

In 2005, while still enrolled at NYFA, Greg (along with classmates Mark Breese and Ned Martin) began interning for editor Bob Mead. Their first job was editing the DVD featurettes for the independent feature film Brooklyn Bound, starring Jamie Hector and Dean Winters.

What followed was a series of freelance positions running the gamut from acting reels to wedding videos to soft-core pornography. Later that year Greg and Mark began working on an independent feature shooting on the Jersey Shore. Starting as interns the two quickly became the films' producer, 2nd AC and assistant editors, still working under Bob Mead.

It was during the production that Greg met Jakob Hawkins, the films' star. The two have remained close collaborators with Jakob playing the title role in "Fake Henrik Zetterberg", a comedy web series directed by DeLiso, released in 2011.

In 2008 Greg and Mark teamed up with Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett of the Found Footage Festival and began working with them as editors for web content and the touring live show.

Later, through Nick and Joe, who were mutual friends, Greg met Jeff Krulik, a prolific filmmaker best known for co-directing the legendary cult documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot. In 2010, Jeff was preparing to release a feature length sequel to Parking Lot; due to hiccups in the post-production process, however, he enlisted Greg to re-edit the film.

Jeff gave Greg carte-blanch to re-edit the film from scratch and it was completed in less than two months with Greg serving as editor and post-production supervisor. He was also awarded a co-producer credit for saving the film at the zero hour. Greg can be found on the commentary with Jeff joking about the hellish post process and the films' ultimate success.

In 2011 Greg premiered his first feature length documentary, Canada's Best Kept Secret, in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. The film chronicles the life and work of obscure author/naturalist R.D. Lawrence who published 30 books in 16 languages. Despite his relative obscurity, R.D. was integral in the green movement of the late 21st century and personally rescued and cared for over 2,000 animals on his wooded acreage in the Haliburton Highlands of Ontario, Canada.

Greg is currently living and working in Detroit Michigan, his first feature film, Hectic Knife, is slated for release in 2012.
