Kendrick Lamar Was the Top Winner at the 2025 BET Awards

Kendrick Lamar was top winner at the 2025 BET Awards, held in Los Angeles Monday night.

The rapper took home the awards for album of the year for Gnx, best male hip-hop artist, video of the year for “Not Like Us” and best collaboration alongside Sza for “Luther.” Lamar also shared the award for video director of the year with his longtime creative partner Dave Free.

Sza and Chris Brown won best female and male R&b/pop artists, respectively. Doechii also won the award for best female hip-hop artist. During the latter’s acceptance speech, the rapper called out President Donald Trump for the “ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order” amid protests against unlawful immigration raids in Los Angeles.

Other winners included Leon Thomas for best new artist, Denzel Washington for best actor and Cynthia Erivo for best actress.

BET Awards Set To Go On Amid LA Protests Against Immigration Raids

The BET Awards will continue as planned amid Los Angeles citizens protesting and pushing back on Ice raids.

“BET remains committed to the safety of our guests and staff. We are working closely with LAPD and monitoring the situation,” a BET spokesperson said in a statement. “The 2025 BET Awards will take place Monday, June 9th 2025 at 8pm Et/Pt as scheduled.”

Kevin Hart is set to host the 2025 BET Awards from the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles (Dtla), close to where protestors fought against the raids.

On Sunday afternoon, anti-ice protestors took to the streets to make their voices heard against the inhumane raids taking place across Los Angeles County. Demonstrators shut down traffic on the 101 Freeway as things escalated.

Marking the 25th edition of its awards show, BET has announced a new crop of Ultimate Icons for 2025.

Airing live June 9, 2025 at 8pm Et/Pt, the BET Awards will honor Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx and Kirk Franklin with the Ultimate Icon Award, celebrating their ongoing contributions to music, entertainment, advocacy and community impact.

Previous recipients of the Ultimate Icon Award include Janet Jackson, Deborah L. Lee and Tyler Perry.

Hosted by Kevin Hart, the awards show will also feature performances from Snoop, Carey and Franklin. Previously announced performers include Lil Wayne, Teyana Taylor, Playboi Carti and Leon Thomas.

With her new audiobook But First, God out on Tuesday, the “Big Brother” host spoke with Et Canada’s Keshia Chanté and revealed why she initially turned down the reality show job.

“When I asked, ‘Will this prevent me from ever walking the halls of ’60 Minutes’?’ and I was told, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘Well, thank you, then I’m not interested in this job.'”

“I turned it down because I was told, I was new at CBS News, I was only five months into working there, and I had dreams back then of becoming a ’60 Minutes’ correspondent,” she said. “So when they offered me ‘Big Brother’, I had a feeling if I host this, you know, strange sounding reality entertainment show, I don’t really think they’re going to want that same person being on ’60 Minutes’ as a correspondent.”

Ashley Park is teasing fans about the upcoming “Mean Girls” musical movie adaptation.

The “Emily in Paris” star originated the role of Gretchen Wieners in the Broadway adaptation of the 2004 film and is set to make a cameo in the upcoming film.

It’s been nearly 10 years since “Outlander” started, so Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe know each other very well.

With the final season of Netflix’s hit series “Never Have I Ever” just around the corner, the cast sat down for a conversation with Et Canada’s Keshia Chanté, where they opened up about what they each took from the set for keepsakes.

Bebe Rexha still can’t believe she got the chance to work with Dolly Parton on the song “Seasons”.

It was the first tune Rexha wrote for her new album Bebe, which dropped Friday.

Rexha chatted to Et Canada’s Keshia Chanté in a recent interview, saying of whether the collab was a “pinch-me moment”: “I mean, Dolly Parton is an icon. She is not only one of my favourite artists, but one of my favourite songwriters. She wrote ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston, and she has her version as well.

“So I always looked up to Dolly Parton like wow, not only is she a bad b***h… like, she looks good, she can sing like crazy, but she’s writing all these incredible records and she’s also a boss. Like, she has Dollywood.
