‘We Need to Talk’ Review
Image
Stars: James Maslow, Emily Bett Rickards, Christel Khalil, Johnathan Fernandez, Tray Chaney | Written and Directed by Todd Wolfe

We have an interesting history with video game movies here at Nerdly. You see, back in 2013 when Nerdly was just a [now non-existant] YouTube show and Blogomatic3000 was still around (the site Before this site) I decided to go all-in on the name Nerdly and close down my original site… And Nerdly was rebooted with a review of noobz, a movie about a bunch of noob gamers entering an esports tournament. And since then I tried to keep my hand into any video game adjacent titles that come our way – from documentaries like From Bedrooms to Billions to comedies like Grandma’s Boy and this film, We Need To Talk…

We Need To Talk follows Scott, a self-absorbed online video-game influencer, who speaks to millions of fans every day, but simply cannot (or will not...

Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards stars in wild gamer comedy ‘We Need to Talk’
Image
In the tradition of Billy Madison, a new film set in the chaotic, comical world of gaming and influencers, We Need to Talk starring James Maslow (Big Time Rush) and Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow) is coming to digital this May from Global Digital Releasing.

Scott is a self-absorbed online video-game influencer, who speaks to millions of fans every day, but simply cannot (or will not) communicate with the people he loves. He remains blissfully unaware that he’s the problem until one morning, as she’s walking out the door, his girlfriend Aly tells him, “we need to talk.” Her comment sends Scott spiraling into a day-long tailspin as he seeks wisdom, advice, and emotional support from his social media network of friends, internet trolls, and a myriad of online characters from around the world.

From writer/director Todd Wolfe, and also starring Daytime Emmy Award Winner Christel Khalil (The Young and the Restless...

After Rooney's Death, Who Is Earliest Surviving Best Actor Academy Award Nominee?
Mickey Rooney was earliest surviving Best Actor Oscar nominee (photo: Mickey Rooney and Spencer Tracy in ‘Boys Town’) (See previous post: “Mickey Rooney Dead at 93: MGM’s Andy Hardy Series’ Hero and Judy Garland Frequent Co-Star Had Longest Film Career Ever?”) Mickey Rooney was the earliest surviving Best Actor Academy Award nominee — Babes in Arms, 1939; The Human Comedy, 1943 — and the last surviving male acting Oscar nominee of the 1930s. Rooney lost the Best Actor Oscar to two considerably more “prestigious” — albeit less popular — stars: Robert Donat for Sam Wood’s Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939) and Paul Lukas for Herman Shumlin’s Watch on the Rhine (1943). Following Mickey Rooney’s death, there are only two acting Academy Award nominees from the ’30s still alive: two-time Best Actress winner Luise Rainer, 104 (for Robert Z. Leonard’s The Great Ziegfeld, 1936, and Sidney Franklin’s The Good Earth, 1937), and Best Supporting Actress nominee Olivia de Havilland,...

Owner of Haunted California Mansion Auctioning Off Relics from the Building
On set at Misterwives music video
If there's anything I learned from the never-ending Amityville Horror franchise, it's that you probably shouldn't bring objects from haunted houses into your own home, because they have the potential to be as haunted as the houses themselves. But if you're looking to spice up your home with a little paranormal activity, then Todd Wolfe has got you covered.

As we spotted over on Roadtrippers, Todd is the current owner of the haunted Wolfe Manor, which is located in Clovis, California. The mansion was built in 1922 and turned into a sanitarium in 1935, where it was used for the treatment of terminally ill patients. A wing was eventually added for the purpose of treating mental disorders, and the history of the sanitarium is an insanely creepy one, filled out with tales of murder, suicide and mistreatment of patients.

Upon purchasing the mansion, Wolfe converted it into a haunted attraction, and he...
