His Ashkenazi ancestors came to the U.S. from Russia, Austria, Bohemia, Hungary, and Poland. Alden was raised in Reconstructionist Judaism, and had a Bar Mitzvah ceremony.
  • Auditioned for Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man : Le Destin d'un héros (2014).
  • He is named after Field of Dreams (1989) director Phil Alden Robinson who is a close friend of his parents.
  • He has worked with six directors who have won the Academy Award for Best Director: Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, Warren Beatty, and Ron Howard.
