Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge Review: An Atmospheric Hunt with Too Many Distractions
Image
There is a certain charm to a story that feels both completely outlandish and entirely plausible. Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge finds that strange sweet spot. Set in 2003 Florida, the film uses the real-life, alligator-packed Lake Jesup as its playground, a choice that immediately lends a humid, unnerving authenticity to the proceedings.

The premise is pure B-movie gold: an enormous gator named Bonecrusher escapes and starts racking up a body count. The only person who can stop it is Bubba Coggins, a disgraced gator hunter fresh out of prison. He is offered a deal to hunt the beast for a clean slate, giving this gory monster mash a surprisingly human story of desperation. The film quickly establishes its goal to mix bloody thrills with a grounded tale of one man’s fight for a second chance.

The Crowded Swamp – A Story of Men and a Monster

At its center, the film has a classic redemption story.

Horror B-Movie 'Gator Lake' Full Trailer About a Bloodthirsty Alligator
Image
"One lake. One gator. Zero mercy." Brainstorm Media has revealed the official trailer for a horror B-movie called Gator Lake, apparently inspired by a true story of events in 2003 at a real lake in Florida. This first premiered last year under the original title Lake Jesup, and it was also given the full title Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher's Revenge. Not the first vicious alligator movie - there was Crawl a few years ago, and the original Lake Placid as well, time for another one. Florida's Lake Jesup is the most densely infested alligator lake in the entire United States - known by locals as "the place to take your mother-in-law to water ski." This is the story of 13 hellish days on the lake in 2003. Desperate to end the slaughter, Florida authorities made the only logical choice they could: they went to Bubba Coggins, a beer-guzzling, refrigerator-sized ex-con & professional gator wrangler with...

10 Fantasy Movies That Tried to Be the Next Big Thing (But Failed)
Image
Since the Golden Age of Hollywood, fantasy has been a cornerstone of the film industry's success, from Greek mythology epics like Clash of the Titans to '80s cult classics like Labyrinth. Covering everything from wizards, knights, and dragons to ancient gods and superhero stories, the genre continues to prove itself one of the most diverse in the industry -- and studios continue to establish their new big thing.

Fantasy movies are typically the flagship blockbuster projects of major studios, with many of the industry's record-high budgets being spent on the genre. While iconic hits like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter carried studios to billion-dollar box office draws, attempts by rival studios to emulate this success have often fallen short. From disastrous book adaptations to attempts at new shared universes, filmmakers usually miss the mark when giving a studio their next big hit.

10 Post-Credits Scenes That Weren't Worth Waiting Around For
Image
While its always great for audiences to show their support for the hard work the production crew and stars put into a movie, some post-credits scenes truly were not worth the wait. To make a feature film is a major endeavor, so its important to give the crew their due and stick around for the credits, but if the only reason a viewer was watching them was to see the final scene or catch a hidden Easter egg, plenty of films would leave them disappointed. As post-credits scenes have become more common in recent years, in some cases, they feel needlessly tacked on and without much depth or interest.

The best post-credits scenes offer something new and exciting for viewers to look forward to. This could be the introduction of a long-awaited character, a new plot point that lays the groundwork for a sequel, or even just one final gag...

Bad Boys: Ride or Die Features a Hidden Cameo with Michael Bay
Image
Quick Links Michael Bay's History with the Bad Boys Franchise The Director Pays Tribute to Fan-Favorite Franchise Bad Boys Is an Enduring Buddy Comedy Staple

For nearly three electrifying decades, the action-packed buddy comedy franchise Bad Boys has kept audiences all across the world laughing and wildly entertained, with its sensational stars, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, making the ultimate Hollywood dream team. The epic series made its dazzling debut back in 1995, with the original blockbuster hit being helmed by Michael Bay, a then up-and-comer who would go on to dominate the industry with hits like Armageddon and the enduring Transformers films.

Bay directed both Bad Boys and its 2003 sequel Bad Boys II before eventually passing the torch to filmmaking duo Adil & Bilall for the two follow-up sequels, and though he may not have been behind the camera, he did appear in both rip-roaring flicks. The prominent director has...

Creature Feature ‘Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge’ Picked up by Black Mandala for World Sales (Exclusive)
Image
New Zealand-based sales company Black Mandala has picked up all international rights to “Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge,” a now-completed creature feature set in the most-alligator-infested lake in the U.S.

In 2003, Lake Jesup became the setting for real-life horror story when a huge alligator, known as Bonecrusher, escaped captivity at an animal theme park Gator Galaxy and started killing people in the lake. As the body count increased it became clear that stopping the monster would require a massive hunting effort.

The film revolves around the 13-day hunt and the persistent terror caused by a vicious, trained and angry predator. The expert hunter Bubba Coggins develops a strategy to neutralize the beast. But as he does so he realizes that both he and Bonecrusher have been wronged by the greedy park owner Angus Sullivan. Bubba is required to face up to his demons and ask how far he is willing...

‘Rumble Through The Dark’ Ending Explained & Movie Summary: Did Jack Defeat Ax?
Image
After watching Eron Eckhart’s Muzzle, I thought the actor was done and wouldn’t get any good movies like he used to get in his prime. However, after watching Rumble Through the Dark, I fell in love with his craft again. Eckhart had done action movies, but nothing came even close to his latest film. The film is raw and convincing, and you can’t help but feel his pain and the things he’s going through. Eckhart stepped into the shoes of Jack Boucher, a man drowning in debt. Jack did whatever odd jobs he could find to earn some extra green. When he wasn’t earning, you could find him in the casino, trying to double whatever he had walked in with. As already established, Jack owed a huge sum to the bank, which, if not paid in time, would risk the foreclosure of his house. However,...

Directors Graham and Parker Phillips Talk Aaron Eckhart and Rumble Through the Dark
Image
In Rumble Through the Dark, Aaron Eckhart plays a gritty bare-knuckle cage fighter searching for redemption. The plot is rife with drama, emotional highs and lows, and plenty of twists. The story will undoubtedly stick with audiences, but it’s Eckhart’s commanding performance that will be the talk of this film. The Dark Knight and Sully alum completely transforms himself physically and emotionally, playing aging fighter Jack Boucher, who must consider one last set of fights in an effort to shift his fate.

The film, which was directed by Graham Phillips and Parker Phillips, also stars Bella Thorne, Ritchie Coster (The Dark Knight), Marianne Jean-Baptiste Without a Trace), Derek Russo (Loki), and a powerful ensemble cast. The filmmaking brothers shared more about the compelling and gritty drama, working alongside Aaron Eckhart, and much more in this exclusive MovieWeb interview.

Aaron Eckhart is a Cage Fighter in 'Rumble Through the Dark' Trailer
Image
"You still fight?" Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for an action thriller called Rumble Through the Dark, another of these direct-to-vod releases coming up this fall. It's getting a one week run before being available to watch at home in November. Adapted from the novel titled The Fighter by Michael Farris Smith (but of course that movie title was taken by the Christian Bale boxing movie The Fighter from 2010). In the dark landscape of the Mississippi Delta, a bare knuckle cage fighter seeks to repay his debts in a final, desperate attempt to salvage the family home of his dying foster mother. Starring Aaron Eckhart as Jack Boucher, with Bella Thorne, Ritchie Coster, Amanda Saunders, Joe Hursley, Mike McColl, Derek Russo, Christopher Winchester, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. This looks stylish and brutal, though not that memorable, the same story we've seen in so many other fighting films. At least Eckhart looks good.

‘Vendetta’ Review
Image
Stars: Clive Standen, Bruce Willis, Theo Rossi, Thomas Jane, Jackie Moore, Mike Tyson, Maddie Nichols, Derek Russo, Kurt Aue, Randy Gonzalez, Lauren Buglioli, Jesse O’Neill, Cabot Basden | Written and Directed by Jared Cohn

Who doesn’t love a good revenge/vigilante movie? Death Wish, Rolling Thunder, The Exterminator, Vigilante, Walking the Edge... All classics of the genre made in a period some would call the “peak” of the genre in the late 70s/early 80s and all set a high standard for any film that followed. And there have been a Lot of similar films over the years. A lot. Including a remake of Death Wish from director Eli Roth that featured Bruce Willis in the headline role and it’s Willis’ name that used to sell Vendetta too. Though like a lot of his latter-day films prior to the shocking news of his illness and his retirement from acting,...

Frightfest 2021: ‘Bad Candy’ Review
Image
Stars: Corey Taylor, Zach Galligan, Derek Russo, Ryan Kiser, Alexandra Lucchesi | Written and Directed by Scott B. Hansen, Desiree Connell

Written by Desiree Connell and Scott B. Hansen, who are also in the directors chairs, Bad Candy is a Halloween anthology that tells the tale of the local myths of the small town of New Salem in which it’s set. A festive and joyful selection of stories that put you right in that Halloween mood, this is one that will, undoubtedly, become a cult favourite in the years to come.

Starring the likes of Zach Galligan (Gremlins) and Corey Taylor (of Slipknot fame) this is one of those movies that sits perfectly as an “every year watch”. I’m a fan of anthology horror, and especially those set during the Halloween season. From the wrap-around story to each of the anthology offerings, Bad Candy nails both the vibe and the entertainment here,...

Image
Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss is one man, all revenge in the newly released trailer for Paramount's upcoming thriller Crime Story. Richard Dreyfuss Wants Vengeance in Trailer for 'Crime Story' Film
Billy Campbell, Dennis Farina, Paul Butler, Steve Ryan, and Bill Smitrovich in Les Incorruptibles de Chicago (1986)
"I decided to do what I do." What a terrible line. Saban Films / Paramount have released an official trailer for a very generic action thriller titled Crime Story, which is getting a theatrical + VOD release this August for anyone who might want to watch this. The pitch: an old man suffering from cancer seeks revenge on the thieves who have destroyed his life. Academy Award-winner Richard Dreyfuss stars as an infamous ex-mob boss who "must finally face the consequences of his dark past" when his family also gets caught up in his vengeance plot. The full cast includes Mira Sorvino, Cress Williams, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Derek Russo, Haviland Stillwell, and Andrea Frankle. Despite starring two Oscar winners, this is straight-to-the-bargain-bin, derivative "content" that everyone will just forget as soon as they finish watching. Oh well. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Adam Lipsius' Crime Story, direct from Paramount's YouTube:...
