A New York jury ruled on Tuesday that Trump must pay $5 million in civil damages to author E. Jean Carroll, who alleged the former president raped her in the ‘90s. While the jury stopped short of ruling the attack was rape, they did find that Trump was liable for sexual battery against Carroll and had later defamed her after she came forward.

The former president has favored a more relaxed style since leaving office in January, and fans can’t help but notice that he seems to be loosening up his buttons a little more with every passing appearance.

On Tuesday, Obama held court at the Global Food Innovation Summit in Milan, Italy, where he defended the Paris climate accord. But over on Twitter, many eyes were on the former president’s “deeply unbuttoned” shirt.

Former President Barack Obama just made a splash in New York City, drawing big crowds after apparently meeting with a foundation that has a connection to the planned Obama Presidential Library in Chicago. Obama was at a building where the Simons Foundation is headquartered. James Simons and his wife, Marilyn, are big-time philanthropists who reportedly donated around $700,000 earmarked for the Library. Dave Gibson, one of the country’s most high profile producers, has been appointed chief executive of the New Zealand Film Commission.

Gibson replaces Graeme Mason who took up his new role at Screen Australia a couple of weeks ago, the equivalent government agency of New Zealand’s nearest neighbour.

Gibson is both good-natured and not afraid to speak out. His move from the private sector into government will surprise some because of his fierce independence.

His decision to take up this role also represents a move from television into film. He has produced several feature films but for most of his career has working in television across a range of formats and also interactive systems for museums across the world.

The Nzfc is responsible for directly funding film not television (handled by New Zealand On Air) although it does administer the Screen Production Incentive Fund, which caters for blue chip television drama.

Veteran Kiwi TV and film producer Dave Gibson is the new CEO of the New Zealand Film Commission, succeeding Graeme Mason who is now CEO of Screen Australia.

Gibson is selling his shares in the Gibson Group, the Wellington-based production company he founded 35 years ago. Senior management Victoria Spackman, Allan Smith, Brett Tompkins and Bevin Linkhorn are buying his stake.

His five-year term starts in January. "It.s been a tough decision to move from the production industry where I.ve spent most of my working life but I.m excited by the challenge of working at the Film Commission and trying to make a difference," Gibson tells If.
