Warning: Spoilers for Longlegs
FBI protagonists in both films face intense psychological manipulation, probing childhood traumas that heavily influence their actions and motivations. Mentor figures guide the protagonists through dark investigations, shaping their growth and providing expertise in navigating complex cases. Discoveries of victims in chilling crime scenes deepen the horror, unraveling the killers' distinct methods and triggering intense psychological breakdowns.
Few psychological horror films have made a statement like Longlegs, eliciting instant comparisons to the genre-defining The Silence of the Lambs. However, with its extremely unnerving atmosphere and complex narrative, Longlegs confidently places itself on equal footing in the genre, peeling back another fresh yet equally disturbing layer of the human psyche. The Silence of the Lambs set a gold standard for psychological thrillers, but Longlegs challenges and extends this legacy with its own brand of unsettling suspense.

According to the movies, there are really only four jobs: assassin; hooker (heart of gold optional); President of the United States of America; and FBI agent who hunts down serial killers and risks safety and sanity in doing so. Everything else can be filled under miscellaneous: doctor, lawyer, cop who has to make a choice, etc.

HBO’s “True Detective” franchise had been off the air for five years, since its third season concluded in 2019. But all of that changed this year under the stewardship of Mexican filmmaker Issa López (“Tigers Are Not Afraid”), when the series came roaring back into the zeitgeist — with “True Detective: Night Country,” led by stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.
The murder mystery revolved around a central question: How did the scientists at the Tsalal research station in Ennis, Alaska end up as a frozen pile of dead naked men on the ice? A corpsicle, if you will! The answer — as uncovered by the true detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) — took the women through a maze of questions, some of which seemed to have no logical explanation: but in the end, very much did. Through their investigative work, they healed themselves — and Ennis too.

Bridgerton Season 3's most unanticipated character arc absolutely belongs to Jessica Madsen's Cressida Cowper, whose temperamental mean girl ways are slightly reforming. But what's more unexpected about Madsen is her under-the-radar role in a notorious horror franchise that made a significant impact on its legacy. Before donning her lingering snarl with shiny jewels, tight curls, and ballgowns, Madsen played the unpredictable psychopath, Clarice, in Leatherface (2017). Clarice becomes one of the key contributors to the birth of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's legendary killer, Leatherface, whose villain origin story is chronicled in an ambiguous manner in the 2017 film. This ambiguity leaves us wondering which one of the escaped psychiatric facility patients actually becomes the chainsaw-wielding killer, with Clarice herself in the running. But the most exciting part about Madsen's character is really how she was created, from her inspiration to Madsen's interpretation of this manic pyromaniac.

Turning down a job can sometimes come back to haunt you, especially if you're an actor who passed up a role in an acclaimed horror movie and later regretted the decision. This scenario may be difficult to imagine. After all, who would pass up the chance to be in a movie or TV show, right? As fans, though, it can be easy to forget that the movie business -- for all its glory, fanfare, legacy, and importance -- is, at the end of the day, just that: a business. A person in any industry may decline a job that doesn't feel like good fit, doesn't align with their schedule, or maybe would have them working with a filmmaker or co-star they unsure of for one reason or another.

What happens when the kidnapped becomes the kidnapper? That’s now the question around NBC’s “Found,” which debuts on Tuesday on NBC. Originally, the logline for the Shanola Hampton-led drama series read: “Public relations specialist Gabi Mosely — who was once herself one of those forgotten ones — and her crisis management team now make sure there is always someone looking out for the forgotten missing people. But unbeknownst to anyone, this everyday hero is hiding a chilling secret of her own.”
On Sept. 12, that second part of that description changed to: “Gabi was once herself one of those forgotten ones, and is still hiding a chilling secret of her own – she has found her kidnapper, Sir, (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), and uses his twisted expertise to help solve their cases.”
Additionally, the trailers share Gabi’s secret and the fact that Sir is desperate to get out. Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll...
