Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey producer Scott Jeffrey has fired back at critics of the latter film two years after its release. Written and directed by Jeffrey's co-producer Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the first installment in The Twisted Childhood Universe debuted in February 2023 to very negative critical responses, with many labeling the movie among the worst ever made.
In an interview with SFX magazine via GamesRadar, Jeffrey fiercely defended Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, recounting the hard work that went into making it. The producer believes that some people who claim not to like the horror parody did not give it a chance, and many of those who did liked what they saw, gaining the franchise new fans. "We had to really grow a thick skin, especially on Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood And Honey. People were saying we were lazy on all this," he said. "People might not like it,...

The most recent entry in the so-called Poohniverse, and the first one not to feature Pooh, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, has arrived. With Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel both being steaming piles of, well, poo, I was going to skip this. But surprisingly, I started hearing quite a few positive things about it.
While most of the films that director Scott Chambers, aka Scott Jeffrey has been involved with are borderline unwatchable fare like Dragon Fury, he does have the occasional entertaining effort like The Gardener to his credit, so it wasn’t entirely beyond the realm of possibility that Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare would actually be decent. Hoping for the best, I decided to give it a chance.

Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh existing in the same cinematic universe might seem strange enough, but how about both of them going on murderous rampages? Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, directed and written by Scott Chambers, is the third installment in Jagged Edge Productions'"Twisted Childhood Universe" (Tcu). Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare was preceded by Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023) and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey II (2024), which, if you could not discern from the titles, see the beloved children's character Winnie the Pooh (originally from the books by A.A. Milne and E. H Shephard) turn violent.
The Tcu, or "Poohniverse" as it is also called, is all the brain-child of British filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield. When Winnie the Pooh (which was originally published in 1926) entered the public domain in 2022, the material became fair game for a horror spin. Now, the Razzie-winning series shows no signs of stopping and...

The Twisted Childhood Universe is only continuing to grow. Following on the heels of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, the boy who won’t grow up is now the latest victim in an ongoing quest to traumatize everyone’s beloved childhood memories. This week sees the limited run of Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which may be the darkest installment in the Tcu to date and arguably the goriest.
While the Blood and Honey films openly embraced the aesthetic of ‘80s slashers like Friday the 13th, Neverland Nightmare draws clear inspiration from modern hits like The Black Phone, It, and the grimy, unpleasant aesthetic of Eli Roth’s body of work. In a small way, the micro-budgeted U.K. indie “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” more than pulled its weight in drawing audiences back to theaters two years ago. The bad-taste concept and trailer generated guilty-pleasure viral traction; then the Fathom Events theatrical window was so short, there was no chance for word-of-mouth to spoil the fun. Which was fortunate, as the film itself was an amateurish slog.
You have to give the filmmakers credit, though: They swallowed all criticism (including an impressive sweep of the Golden Raspberries), vowing to plow their considerable profits into making better movies …albeit in the same vein. Last year’s “Honey” sequel was reportedly a significant improvement. Now there’s “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,” a nasty piece of work — in the sense that it appeals to horror fans with a strong stomach not just for gore but truly unpleasant ideas.

Peter DeSouza-Feighoney is bringing a twisted take to another classic children's character in Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. The Scott Chambers-directed film sees the young actor play Michael Darling, the typically innocent and playful youngest sibling of the Darlings. In familiar Twisted Childhood Universe fashion, DeSouza-Feighoney's take on Michael is reactionary to the chaos going on around him.
The Tcu is a franchise already familiar to DeSouza-Feighoney, as he previously portrayed young Winnie-the-Pooh in Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. He seems to have found his staple role in the larger world in the form of Michael Darling, as he is set to reprise the character in Pinnochio: Unstrung later this year.

Plot: Wendy Darling strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from ‘the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.’ Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who will be seen taking heroin, believing that it’s pixie dust.
Review: It’s always very ambitious for a franchise to announce its plans way ahead of time. It certainly has bit Marvel on the butt, but if you’re going to parody their release schedule, you have to do things full bore. And I think most of us at least chuckled when the Poohniverse was announced. So smack dab in the middle of their release lies Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, a horror take on the J.M. Barrie classic. And it’s a hell of a lot darker than expected.
Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is a very dark and twisted take on Peter Pan as he sucks the souls out of children to remain youthful.

If you thought the two Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies ruined your childhood, wait until you see what's next, as director Scott Chambers says you haven't seen anything yet. Released in 2023, Blood and Honey took some beloved characters from our youth, such as Pooh and Piglet, and turned them into slasher villains wreaking havoc in the Hundred Acre Wood. The carnage continued in Blood and Honey 2, which added Tigger and Owl to the mix for an even bigger bloodbath in the town of Ashdown.
Speaking with MovieWeb to promote the upcoming release of the third film in the franchise, Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, director Scott Chambers revealed to us that when it comes to ruining childhoods, the best is yet to come. As if turning Peter Pan into a villainous monster wasn't enough, we asked him what upcoming film was going to give people pause, and he didn't hesitate to respond.

The franchise began with the critically maligned Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and continued with its generally better-received sequel, while six other movies are in various states of development and production.

Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release in early 2023, so not only did the sequel Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 have a substantially higher budget, that success opened the door to an entire cinematic universe that will consist of at least one more Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel and other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio: Unstrung. Now, Variety reports that a pair of genre icons have just joined the cast of Pinocchio: Unstrung, as the film is set to star A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Robert Englund and Rob Zombie regular Richard Brake! Details on Englund’s role have not been revealed, but Brake will be playing Geppetto.

The filmmakers behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (and its sequel) are expanding their “Poohniverse” with multiple upcoming films including Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, but today we’re here to talk about Pinocchio: Unstrung.
Variety has shared a first look image from the next movie in the twisted public domain horror universe this morning, while also revealing that Robert Englund has joined the cast.
The horror legend is reportedly playing the role of iconic character Cricket!
Additionally, Richard Brake (3 from Hell) will be starring as puppet master Geppetto.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield is directing the upcoming Pinocchio horror movie for Jagged Edge Productions, with makeup FX legend Todd Masters (Child’s Play, Underworld Awakening, Slither) tasked with creating the film’s sinister Pinocchio doll. The fully practical puppet can be glimpsed in the shot up above, which was again first shared by Variety this morning.

Freddy Krueger has joined the cast of the next IP-smashing slasher from the makers of microbudget hit “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.”
Well, almost. Robert Englund, who famously played the murderous horror icon across the “Nightmare on Elm Street” films, will star in “Pinocchio: Unstrung,” the latest standalone feature to join the so-called low-budget Twisted Childhood Universe. Richard Brake, a regular collaborator with Rob Zombie and whose horror credits also include the likes of “Barbarian” and “Mandy,” has also joined the film in the key role of Geppetto.
Meanwhile, Variety is able to reveal a first-look of the actual — and fully practical — Pinocchio doll, created by Todd Masters, the Emmy-winning special effects artist known for “Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight” and “Child’s Play” (he also worked on “Dune: Part Two”).

In the beginning there was Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey. Then, there was Winnie the Pooh_: Blood & Honey 2_. And now, as Rhys Frake-Waterfield — the Kevin Feige of effed-up fairytale films — envisioned back in early 2023, the Twisted Childhood Universe of public domain based horrors is set to expand with Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. Written and directed by Scott Jeffrey (not to be confused with Muppet Babies helmsman Jeffrey Scott), the Tcu's latest childhood crusher is set to see Martin Portlock bring to our screens a slightly more murderous version of the boy who never grew up than Disney's take on the J.M. Barrie fairytale. Check out the bloody first trailer below;
Welp — we don't know about his shadow, but it sure does look like our pal Peter has found his dark side here! Whilst theorists have long contested a dark truth at the heart of Barrie's book (that...

With the original iterations of several Disney characters now in the public domain, the door has been opened to parodies featuring twisted new versions of them.
One of the most attention-grabbing parodies is the upcoming horror movie Screamboat which, in case it wasn't obvious, is based on the iconic Mickey Mouse predecessor, Steamboat Willie.
Directed by Steven Lamorte, who previously helmed 2022's The Mean One, a horror based on Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the teaser trailer suggests the project will make slasher fans happy.
According to the synopsis, "[Screamboat] follows a group of New Yorkers on a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers. The unlikely crew must band together to thwart the murderous menace before their relaxing commute turns into a nightmare."
You can watch the newly released trailer below (via FearHQ.com) ahead of the movie's planned 2025 release.

It’s been one year since Columbia Pictures / Screen Gems brought The Pope’s Exorcist (read our review Here), a supernatural thriller starring Russell Crowe, to theatres. Just two weeks after the film was released, our friends at Bloody Disgusting heard that a sequel was in development… but then things went quiet for a while. Crowe recently said that The Pope’s Exorcist was meant to kick off a trilogy, but the franchise’s progress had been slowed down by “a change of studio heads.” Things have apparently been worked out, though, because producer Jeff Katz of Worldwide Katz has just taken to social media to announce that the Pope’s Exorcist sequel has been given the greenlight!
Katz wrote, “Amorth Nation — I just got the call. It’S Officially Happening!!! “È un seguito, amici miei.”* Thank you to the amazing #ThePopesExorcist fans. You made this happen. Gas up your Lambretta – and get ready to ride.

We already knew that there’s going to be another installment in the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey horror franchise, because it was announced earlier this month that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 (which is now on the last day of its three-day theatrical run) a part of a cinematic universe with other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung, and it’s building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will be released in 2025. But now Variety has been able to confirm that, in addition to Poohniverse, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 is also moving ahead.
