Satish Munda is an accomplished Indian film director, having graduated from the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII),pune in 2016 with a specialization in Direction. Along with his extensive experience in theatre and film direction, Munda has a distinct style in storytelling that sets him apart from other young filmmakers. Before embarking on his filmmaking journey, Munda completed an MBA in Marketing. Raised in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Munda's diverse life experiences inspire him to bring a fresh perspective to the screen.
His diploma film "Dansh," during his final year at FTII, received widespread critical acclaim and won several awards at different film festivals across India. He also directed the documentary film "Drishti," which was screened at numerous film festivals.
Currently, he is collaborating with "Ultra Media Entertainment" on his new project, "Jadugoda," a short fiction film that focuses on the topic of uranium, a subject that is often overlooked in Indian cinema. he's ability to weave socially relevant themes into entertaining stories makes him a promising director who is sure to make a lasting impact on audiences.
In 2022, his first feature film, "Chakki," theatrically released on October 7, PAN India. Starring Rahul Bhat and Priya Bapat. "Chakki" follows the journey of Vijay, a small-town flour mill owner, as he struggles with life, love, hope, and aspirations. When he receives a huge bill of 1.5 Lakh for his flour mill, everything in his seemingly happy life turns upside down. In his attempts to correct the bill, he falls into an endless loop of inefficiencies and ineffectiveness of the government system, which ultimately leads him to take desperate and illegal measures. His actions put his family's status and his love life in jeopardy, showcasing the unsympathetic and parasitic nature of some officials and the apathy of the bureaucratic system.
