Here’s a cool one in the works at Warner Bros: Sydney Sweeney is attached to star in and produce I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, via her Fifty-Fifty Films.

The movie project is based on a Reddit short story by Joe Cote. Fifty-Fifty notched Oscar-winning Forrest Gump and Dune scribe Eric Roth to adapt it.

In the short story, a drifter impersonates a missing girl to rob the girl’s family — only to realize she’s made a terrible mistake.

Comcast has picked David Novak to serve as the Chairman of the Board for the future company that will consist of the cable giant’s national pay television networks, currently dubbed “SpinCo.”

Novak is the co-founder of Yum Brands — the quick-service restaurant chain spun out from PepsiCo in the late 1990s and which consists of recognizable brands like KFC, Taco Bell, Habit Burger and Pizza Hut — where he also worked as the CEO and Chairman of the Board.

Comcast said Novak will bring “nearly 40 years of experience leading and growing well-known consumer brands to the company’s new brand,” which will consist of its cable networks like MSNBC, CNBC, USA Network, E! and SyFy, as well as digital assets like Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes.

Comcast has appointed Yum! Brands co-founder and former CEO David Novak to lead SpinCo’s board of directors as chairman.

Novak, who brings nearly 40 years of experience leading and growing well-known consumer brands, will formally assume the role upon the cable network portfolio’s spinoff by the end of 2025. He will vacate his current position on Comcast’s board of directors, which he has held since December 2016.

In addition to currently serving on Comcast’s board, Novak sits on the board of the Lift-a-Life Novak Family Foundation and is the founder and CEO of David Novak Leadership, a digital platform that teaches people skills to transform themselves into better leaders.

He served as CEO of Yum! Brands from 2000 to 2014, helping transform one of the world’s largest restaurant companies into a global powerhouse of leading brands after it was spun out from PepsiCo in 1997. He also served as its board...

Comcast has appointed David Novak, one of its board members and the former CEO of fast-food company Yum! Brands, as chairman of its soon-to-spin-off collection of cable TV networks.

SpinCo, as the entity is called on a temporary basis, is aiming to separate from Comcast by the end of the year. It will have major networks including MSNBC, USA and others from the NBCUniversal fold, with Bravo remaining at the parent company with NBC and Telemundo.

In a statement, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts saluted the “talent and success” of Novak, who steered Yum! from 2000-14. PepsiCo created the company as a stand-alone entity (speaking of spincos) after acquiring KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

Comcast’s spinoff of its cable channel assets has named David Novak to be the chairman of its board of directors, working with CEO Mark Lazarus to help the company launch and execute on its strategy.

SpinCo (its name is still Tbd) will be comprised of most of Comcast’s cable TV channels (Bravo excluded), as well as some digital properties, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, Syfy and Golf Channel, as well as Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow and SportsEngine.

Novak, a longtime board member of Comcast, is the former CEO of Yum! Brands, which was itself a spinoff from a larger company. Yum! owned Tac Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut and was spun out of PepsiCo. He will leave Comcast’s board once the spinoff is complete.

Novak Djokovic has received an apology from an Australian reporter following some rude comments over the weekend at the 2025 Australian Open.

The 37-year-old tennis star skipped a post-match interview following his win against Jiri Lehecka, and it was due to some comments made by broadcast reporter Tony Jones.

“Novak is overrated … Novak‘s a has-been … Novak, kick him out… I am glad that they can’t hear me,” Tony said during a live broadcast on Friday night.

Novak then shared a video of why he skipped the post-match interview and how he felt about the comments made.

Now, Tony shared a public apology and explained his intent with the comments he made previously.

Wednesday, January 29, will be an exciting night for Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D.

As a reminder, the night begins with a new episode of Chicago Fire in a new time slot.

Chicago Fire opens the night at 8/7c, taking the slot typically reserved for Chicago Med. This was done to have Fire deal with a call to open the night.

Chicago Med slides in at 9/8c, allowing the hospital to deal with the fallout from what happened on Fire.

The night ends with a new Chicago P.D. episode in its regular 10/9c time slot.

Long before his role as Nandor the Relentless in What We Do in the Shadows, Kayvan Novak made quite an impression in the British film Four Lions. Alongside co-stars Riz Ahmed and Adeel Akhtar, Novak plays an extremely dim-witted terrorist in this over-the-top comedy that successfully pulls off a satirical take on terrorism. While the film shows how terrorism is driven by ideology, it also shows that it’s stupid, and comically explores the flawed psychology behind the motivation. Ahmed plays Omar, the lead in the film, while Novak plays his cousin, Waj. The film depicts their mishaps as they train to become terrorists, and shows just how incompetent, misguided, and futile all of it is. Because the film uses humor to make a mockery of the threat of terrorism, to belittle it and therefore take a stand against it, Novak is allowed to play it silly, and does so with aplomb.

Apple TV+ has once again hit the jackpot with the hilarious comedy, Loot, and the Maya Rudolph-led series has now officially been renewed for season 3. Debuting in 2022, the show follows Molly Novak (Rudolph) a recent divorcee who must figure out what to do with the $87 billion settlement she scored from her husband. Hoping to do something good, Novak gets involved with her charity and attempts to rediscover her humanity. With biting satire about class in the 21st century, Loot pressed all the right buttons, especially with Rudolph in the lead role.

When Loot debuted in 2022, it was met with largely positive praise from critics, scoring a respectable 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Most importantly, it secured a second season after a respectable first outing and stands as one of Apple TV+'s best original shows. Celebrity documentaries are commanding lofty price tags at the moment, even though “star power” itself seems to be losing its sizzle.

The facts are nasty: Superstar endorsements carried zero clout in the presidential elections. Further, studios have lost their zeal for the once pivotal pre-opening star interview circuit. Superstar vehicles like Wolfs (George Clooney and Brad Pitt) drifted before audiences with limited exposure to blurbdom. Sequel numbers carry greater weight than festival fervor.

Defying this algorithmic blur, Apple TV still felt its Billie Eilish caper was worth $27 million, and Disney forked out $32 million for Elton John: Never Too Late. Disney also paid handsomely for a new/old doc titled Beatles ’64 from Paul McCartney, premiering this week. Could Taylor Swift be far behind?

Intriguingly, audiences still register an appetite for docs about past legends like Humphrey Bogart as well as semi-present ones like Bob Dylan — even litigating about their validity.

The Law & Order franchise introduced audiences to many beloved characters, from homicide detectives like Lennie Briscoe and Ada Jack McCoy, as well as detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler in the Law & Order spin-off, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Special Victims Unit, much like the original Law & Order series, featured multiple characters each season, some of which were more memorable than others. And one character that many fans still remember fondly is Ada Casey Novak, who joined Law & Order: Svu in Season 5.

Maybe it’s because of everything going on in the world, but somehow, the one-week wait for Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 6 felt much longer than it was.

The episode was worth the wait, though; we got a decent mix of action and character development over the course of the hour.

I have more questions now than I started the night with, but I’m choosing to trust that the writers won’t lead us astray with the stories they’re telling.

For showrunner Paul Simms and actors Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, and Mark Proksch, who all gathered together for a PaleyFest panel on October 19, group scenes in the Fancy Room were among what they’ll miss most now that “Shadows” has wrapped filming.

“Those were the scenes where I’d feel probably the most nervous going in,” Novak recalled of the early seasons. “‘Oh wow, these guys, it’s gotta be good, and I can’t fuck up.

The movie will follow the story of the clandestine love affair between film star Kim Novak, singer/dancer, and film star Sammy Davis Jr. in 1957 and the bigoted scrutiny the pair faced once their relationship came to light.

Sydney Sweeney will play Novak, and David Jonsson will play Davis. In 1956, Novak and Davis first met on “The Steve Allen Show”. They continued to meet, with Davis visiting the set of “Vertigo” the following year. They crossed paths again at a Thanksgiving charity ball in California, which led to the pair spending the holidays together. The public became aware of their romance in 1958. Davis eventually married Loray White, a Black chorus singer, but their union only lasted one year.
