Parasite is returning to the big screen, this time in IMAX format. Bong Joon-ho’s thrilling modern masterpiece from 2019 is celebrating the fifth anniversary of winning Best Picture and sweeping the Oscars with a special re-release.
With studios having success with the recent re-releases of Interstellar and Se7en, it’s easy to see why there is a certain interest in re-leasing legacy titles, especially around a milestone anniversary. With box office performance constantly evolving, it has become clear that there is room for something familiar to be successful again, and that is doubly true when you factor in a premium format like IMAX.
The official X page for IMAX posted that Parasite will be returning to the big screen on Feb. 7. Their post reads, "Don't get kicked down the stairs on your way to the IMAX exclusive re-release of Parasite. Tickets on sale now," followed by this link to purchase tickets.

It’s likely you’ve heard from your neighborhood cinephile about Korean thriller films. Whether it’s the classic Oldboy, I Saw The Devil, or a more recent Bong Joon-Ho obsession, there’s no denying that Koreans just know how to make high-quality, terrifying thrillers that’ll keep your adrenaline flowing for days. But what if I said they’re just as good at doing it in the series format? When you hear “K-drama,” you probably think romantic comedy or pure drama, but the thriller/psychological drama genre is just as big in the country. And you notice this, especially when even the rom-coms or the dramas will have a mystery serial killer angle to them. It’s just something that somehow works for them. But! If you’re keen on watching a thriller that has a satisfying ending and is pure thriller, here are some recommendations for you to...

The new Korean series The Frog promises intrigue from the very start. Playing out across two distinct timelines, the show weaves an unsettling mystery with elements of thriller and psychology. In one era we find ourselves in the year 2000, centered around a small-town motel owned by Koo Sang-jun. Meanwhile, the other timeline is set in present-day 2021, following the story of Jeon Yeong-ha and the vacation rental home he operates out of the woods.
Both settings appear peaceful at first, but ominous events are already underway that will plunge the ordinary lives of these everyday people into uncertainty and chaos. Most unnerving of all, these disruptions seem to stem from the arrival of mysterious visitors. As the summer season reaches its peak, sinister secrets lurk within the shaded forests surrounding each location.
Beyond the chilling premise, viewers can anticipate a truly standout ensemble cast, including powerhouse actors like Go Min-si and Kim Yun-seok in key roles.

Jae-sik killed Seong-a to avenge his son's death. Seong-a killed her stepson in the first episode for virtually no reason. Detective Bo-min chose not to arrest Gi-ho despite knowing what he did at the hospital.
The Frog ends with Jeon Young-ha finding some comfort after having struggled for over a year with his decision of not reporting Seong-a to the police, with the finale also wrapping up the Lake View storyline in the present day. There’s something awe-inspiring about seeing an up-and-comer completely change up their trajectory from “girl next door” to “psycho killer” within 5 years of kicking off their incredible career. Go Min-Si has got to be one of my favorite actresses of today, and I’ve loved the way she carries herself right from her performance in Youth of May. Yes, she’s been a child actress too, but not one of the popular ones. The kind of shows she picks are definitely not your regular K-girlie picks, and it gives her leverage to experiment more whilst still being beloved by the country, a rare feat if nothing else. In The Frog, Go Min-Si plays a psychotic killer and artist who arrives at a “pension” and then completely goes ham. To me, this alone is enough to enjoy the show, seeing how wonderfully she embraces this role and how she makes it...

I know Netflix always has a new K-drama out the very next weekend after the last one ends, but I’m not sure I’ll be feeling the same way about whatever comes next, because Miss Night And Day was quite special. The show is original, a little fantastical, and very sweet, with some fantastic performances thanks to its massive veteran cast. Of course, the main focus is on actress Lee Jung-Eun (Parasite) as Lim Soon, who keeps us entertained from start to finish. The show follows the story of Lee Mi-Jin, a young woman who one day wakes up in the body of an old woman. This happens after she encounters an interesting-looking cat that almost drowns in her house. When Mi-Jin jumps in after it to save its life, her own life is changed forever. The show gives us a couple of clues early on about what the cat signifies.

Jung Young-joo from Netflix's 'Miss Night and Day' is K-Drama's Favorite Eomma - Main Image
Netflix’s latest K-Drama hit, Miss Night and Day, has been a whirlwind of laughter, tears, and heartwarming moments, primarily thanks to Lee Mi-Jin's (played by Lee Jung-Eun) portrayal of adulthood struggles.
However, it's not just Mi-Jin who has captured the audience's hearts. Veteran actress Jung Young-joo, who plays her beloved on-screen mother is quickly becoming everyone's favourite K-Drama eomma (mom).
Jung Young-joo Miss Night and Day: The Quintessential K-Drama Mom
You might remember Young-joo as the caring mother in A Good Day to Be a Dog, the strict yet playfully protective parent in Business Proposal, and the loving single mother in Lovely Runner. Now, she shines as the dedicated and endearing mother in Miss Night and Day.
Young-joo brings her signature strict yet loving persona to the role, making her character instantly relatable.

Netflix’s Miss Night and Day seems to be the K-Drama for the summer because it uses the formulaic “small-town comedy meets big crime scenario” root to produce a genuinely hilarious, occasionally adorable, and sometimes terrifying show. It’s the perfect “bibimbap,” as I always like to call them. It all lies in the fantastic female lead or rather leads, the two halves of the same coin, Jung Eun-Ji’s Mi-Jin, and Lee Jung-Eun’s Im Soon. Both actresses deliver stellar performances, and as if I haven’t always adored them, this show is simply a reminder of how excellent they are. Miss Night and Day follows the story of Mi-Jin, a 28-year-old with no real job, no love life, and no achievements (didn’t need to be called out like that), who suddenly ends up in a serious predicament when she stars becoming an old woman during the day...

The K-drama scene has really been making improvements recently, and I suppose as we come closer to the last quarter, the quality will only improve. If you’re looking for an old-school K-drama that is lighthearted yet emotional and will play with your heartstrings, like a little cat playing with a ball of wool, then this is the show for you. Now, I know we’re only an episode in, but immediately, I can tell that this show is going to be deeply poignant as a comedy. This is true for most K-dramas that we love; this is why they’re so loved, but what’s better is that the show also boasts a stellar cast with Jung Eun-Ji and Lee Jung-Eun as the titular characters and the return of Choi Jin-Hyuk, a handsome hunk who was last seen in Numbers, a show I believe not many have heard of.

Korean cinema's female heritage is yet to have been truly explored and appreciated, which is something that director Shin Su-won clearly aims to rectify with “Hommage” (2021). The film is as much about Korean cinema's past as its present, celebrating the pioneering female directors of old whilst scolding the system that oppressed them. With her sixth solo feature, Shin explores the troubles faced by modern female filmmakers in Korea while also saluting the country's trailblazing woman directors.
Hommage is screening at Women Direct. Korean Indies! Korean Women Independent Film Series

Streaming services Paramount+ and Tving have greenlighted two new jointly-developed Korean TV series. They are the product of an ongoing relationship between parent companies Paramount Global and Korea’s Cj Enm.
They are action thriller “A Bloody Lucky Day” and period drama “Queen Woo.”
Korean TV content has been a growth vector for international and regional streaming platforms in Asia. Competition for new originals is fierce and expensive, but Korean drama and increasingly, unscripted shows, continues to attract critical and commercial kudos.
Paramount+ said that new Korean drama series “Yonder” has been the most-watched international show in the U.S. in its first week of availability (since Aprile 11). Its upcoming Korean series “Bargain” earned the best screenplay award at Canneseries on Wednesday and will upload in summer this year.
“A Bloody Lucky Day” follows an ordinary taxi driver who becomes entangled with a customer that turns out to be a serial killer.
