Anime Fans Divided as Kenshin Voice Actors Announce Charity Donations

Donation announcements from some of Rurouni Kenshin's English dub voice acting team have earned the ire of many anime fans who feel that the dub should never have been made in the first place.

Rurouni Kenshin became a topic of heated contention among the anime fandom after its creator, Nobuhiro Watsuki, was arrested in 2017 for possession of child pornography. However, Watsuki never served any prison time and continues to profit from the Rurouni Kenshin franchise, causing numerous former fans to distance themselves from the iconic series. As detailed on Anime Hunch, the community began speaking out against Rurouni Kenshin's (2023) on social media after its English dub premiere. While members of the dub cast are openly giving away their earnings to charity, many in the anime community remain irate about the actors' involvement.
