Rajkumar Radhakrishnan is an actor and a playback singer in the Malayalam film industry. He is a native of Aluva in Ernakulam district. Though he was quite inclined to music from childhood itself, he could not learn it professionally then. His deep interest in music ended up in him singing for professional ganamela troops during college times. He also participated in several popular music competitions those times like Sapthaswarangal, Gandharva Sangeetham & Sallapam programme in Asianet, Kairali & Doordarshan Channels respectively.
But after his degree completion he soon joined a fruitful job and was leading a life away from the music world. It was during this time that an app called Smule was gaining wide popularity among the singers. Rajkumar who was confined to singing only for some family functions, soon began to sing in Smule and slowly started getting noticed by many singers and industry professionals.
A video of him singing the popular melody 'Sreeragamo' got him a good lot of reviews over the social media. Play Back Singer Swetha Mohan & Music director Kailas Menon shared it on his page and as a result he got the attention of many celebrities like actor Anoop Menon, Sunny Wayne, Aju Varghese, Music Director Rahul Raj etc. Rahul raj gave him the opportunity to be a part of an ensemble song 'Kandam keri' from the Lalettan movie Aarattu. Actor Anoop Menon whom he considers his mentor, not only made him sing 4 songs for his new movie Padma, but also pushed him to do an important role in the movie, which got him wide appreciation and recognition. As an actor, though, his first film was 21 gms, which he got with the support of Anoop Menon, in which did a very challenging role named Murukan.
Rajkumar has done several Facebook live programmes for the Canada, UK, and US audience. His online live show with Stephen Devassy is quite a treat to watch. He has sung many album songs penned and tuned by the stalwarts of the industry. Quite a few cover songs also have been released in his magical voice.
He has done several music shows, unplugged shows etc. (For the Banglore based construction giants Nambiar Builders) with leading celebrities like P. Jayachandran, Shwetha Mohan, Madhu Balakrishnan, Mano, Chitra Iyer, Mridhula Warrier, Sudeep Kumar, Anoop Shankar, Nishad etc. Recently he got, what he considers to be an opportunity of a lifetime when he was able to share a stage with our vanambadi K.S. Chithra
Another appreciation that came his way was in the form of winning the Best Male Singer 2023 for the prestigious Satyajit Ray awards, which recognises the new talents in the industry. He got this award for a duet song with Jyotsna, from another Anoop Menon movie 'Varaal'.
Rajkumar has rendered his voice for many songs in other languages too, like Tamil and Kannada. Apart from these, he has dubbed for many multilingual movies too. His latest Movie projects yet to release are 'L', Phoniex movie which is scripted by Midhun Manuel Thomas and Ohh Cinderella which is penned and directed by Anoop Menon.
