Giada De Laurentiis is reacting to the talk about her pronunciation of Italian words.
“Honestly, I moved here in elementary school from Rome. I really didn’t speak any English and I flunked the first grade. I couldn’t practice at home because my parents insisted that we speak Italian,” the former Food Network chef shared in an Instagram post.
“Everything was about Italian food and culture in my house, so when I started on Food Network, it didn’t occur to me to not pronounce those words correctly. Also my family probably would’ve killed me if I hadn’t pronounced them the right way, the way they had taught me,...

Giada De Laurentiis is calling out her former Food Network co-star Mario Batali.
If you don’t know, the 64-year-old disgraced celebrity chef has fallen out of the spotlight. He was first publicly accused of sexual misconduct in 2017. Years later, he was eventually charged with indecent assault and battery after he was accused of aggressively kissing and groping a woman while they took a selfie. He ended up being found not guilty in that case. A former employee accused him of sexual assault in 2022.
In a new interview, Giada is speaking out about a negative experience she had with him.
Keep reading to find out more…
“This is a person we’re not supposed to talk about but I’m going to,” Giada said on Samah Dada‘s On the Menu Show.
“He’s really the main guy I had worked with. He’s a legend in the Italian space.

Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis broke down in tears after reading Mario Batali’s foreword for her debut cookbook, and not in a good way! De Laurentiis, who published Everyday Italian back in 2005, was initially thrilled to have Batali, a culinary icon, pen its opening. Unfortunately, though, the chef’s foreword reduced De Laurentis’s achievements to her looks and completely dismissed her cooking talent.
On a recent episode of Samah Dada’s YouTube show, On the Menu, the Giada at Home star shared that she was not expecting Batali to treat the situation like a joke. In fact, he doubled down on his comment and wrote that if he had big boobs like De Laurentiis,he would be far more successful than he was. DeLaurentiis recalled calling her editor because she had no idea how to respond.
De Laurentiis shared that she was determined not to let the comment define her work.

Anne Burrell, the Food Network chef found dead in her Brooklyn, home June 17 at age 55, was a TV star almost from the moment she first appeared as a sous chef on one of the first episodes of Iron Chef America in 2004, assisting Mario Batali. Her spiky hair and kitchen intensity fascinated viewers so much that she was eventually given her own cooking show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. When I interviewed her for my 2013 book From Scratch: Inside the Food Network, Burrell told me about her difficult upbringing, and her childhood fantasy that Julia Child was her friend. She spoke of a family member who struggled with drinking. Restaurant work often attracts people looking for surrogate families. I remember her in better times at karaoke singing “Country roads/ take me home…” You could not look away. She gave everything her all, including, as you’ll see below in this excerpt adapted from my book,...

Eric Schlosser knows food. Not in the way Bobby Flay or Giada De Laurentiis does, but in a scholarly manner that knows its affects on the health of anyone who eats.
The author of the classic study Fast Food Nation and an EP on several films, Schlosser came to Bill Maher’s Friday Real Time as a harbinger of potential doom to come, a guest with the credentials to back up his scary predictions with authority.
The next pandemic, Schlosser said, is potentially germinating down in Texas. That’s where it was recently discovered that bird flu had migrated into the cows at mega-dairies, and the federal government has not been allowed in to test the livestock or its workers.
“It’s a perfect example of how the public health is being threatened by private interests,” he said, noting, “The food industry spends more money lobbying than the defense industry.

Giada De Laurentiis is explaining why she decided it was time to leave the Food Network.
The 53-year-old celebrity chef announced she was leaving the cooking channel after 21 years back in early 2023. At the time of her announcement, she revealed she signed a new multi-year deal with Amazon Studios.

Giada said she ultimately became interested in exploring her entrepreneurial side, and could not do both hosting for the Food Network and pursuing her new line of work.
On Rebecca Minkoff’s Superwomen podcast, Giada shared, “It took a while for me to make this decision because I was very fearful of leaving Food Network. Because when you’re a big fish in that pond and then you get out, who knows what’s gonna happen next? But I really started to become interested in the entrepreneurial sort of journey. And I realized I couldn’t do both.

Giada De Laurentiis Was A Staple On The Food Network
As longtime Food Network viewers know, Giada De Laurentiis was one of the faces of the network for a long time. Along with other Food Network icons like Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri, Emeril, and more, Giada was a big part of building the network into what it is today.

Giada De Laurentiis left the Food Network after 21 years and is not missing her old work schedule.
In a new interview, De Laurentiis reflects on what led her to leave the cable network after so long and focus on her lifestyle brand.

In the last few months, chef and philanthropist José Andrés’ nonprofit rapid-response group World Central Kitchen has continued its mission of delivering fresh meals to people in crisis zones all over the world, including in Acapulco, Mexico, following Hurricane Otis making landfall there on Oct. 25.
“The World Central Kitchen teams have been in Maui after the wildfires, the earthquakes in Morocco and now Afghanistan, aiding refugees in Armenia, and we continue to provide meals in hard-to-reach parts of Ukraine,” Andrés tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that, “In each of these times of hardship, destruction and disaster what you also find is that the best of humanity shows up. I see this simple truth time and time again. Exclusive: Film Bridge International is launching sales at AFM on horror Xelter, whose producers include The De Laurentiis Company (Hannibal) and Head Gear Films (Talk To Me).
The period horror film directed by Martin Bonnici is currently in production in Malta, with a cast of Maltese newcomers alongside actors including Brit Bobby Schofield (The Covenant) and Irish actor Moe Dunford (Vikings).
The WWII-set movie charts the legend of the Babaw, a supernatural creature known for stalking and killing children. The film, inspired by true historical events, sees citizens of Malta take shelter from Nazi bombardment in the ancient catacombs underneath the cities, where they suffered deadly peril from collapsing tunnels and entrapment. That experience scarred a generation, and led to stories about creatures that stole children who strayed too far away from their parents.
Screenplay was written by Scottish screenwriter and comics writer Emma Beeby, based on a story Beeby wrote with Gordon Rennie.

Exclusive: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has begun production on Always Amore, a new movie starring Autumn Reeser (The Wedding Veil) and Tyler Hynes (An Unexpected Christmas) for premiere this spring. Oscar-nominated Patty McCormack (The Bad Seed) co-stars in the film, executive produced by celebrity chef, bestselling author and Emmy-winning TV host Giada De Laurentiis.
The movie centers around Elizabeth (Reeser) who, with the support of her mother-in-law Nonna (McCormack), is doing everything she can to keep her late husband’s once acclaimed — but now struggling — Italian restaurant afloat. With business going downhill, she is forced to work with a professional restaurant consultant, Ben (Hynes), to see if they can turn things around. At first, Elizabeth resists the changes Ben believes will save the restaurant, but as they get closer, Elizabeth realizes that not all change is bad.
