John Wick director and legendary stuntman, Chad Stahelski, has found his next project. Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the multi-faceted performer and creative will be serving as the producer behind a feature-length adaptation of Black Mask Studios’ comic, Calexit. As of right now, no further information surrounding who will helm the project, but Black Mask co-founder and the comic’s co-creator, Matteo Pizzolo, penned the script’s spec. It’s also unclear whether audiences can expect to catch Calexit in their local cinema or if it will be coming straight into their homes, as no studio or streamer has picked up the title at this point. But, with the names attached to the already well-known content, it’s almost certain that the production will go into a bidding war when the time comes.

Calexit, the seemingly ripped-from-the-headlines comic from indie publisher Black Mask Studios, may be taking the idea of the California Resistance to the big screen.
Chad Stahelski, the filmmaker behind the John Wick movies, is attached to produce a feature adaptation of the comic.
Alex Young and Jason Spitz, Stahelski’s cohorts at 87Eleven Entertainment, will also produce as well of Matteo Pizzolo, Brett Gurewitz and Brian Giberson of Black Mask. The project is not yet set up at a studio or streamer.
Pizzolo, who is Black Mask’s co-founder and president and who co-created the comic, wrote the script on spec.
The story is set in a near (and eerily familiar) future where America’s president signed an executive order to deport all immigrants, with California responding by proclaiming itself a sanctuary state. As the citizens of the state struggle to seize power back from an autocratic government, the story centers on Jamil,...
