Fabiana Karla
Fabiana Karla is an actress, comedian, hostess, voice actress, director, and writer from Recife. She is known for exploring her art in different areas, including talking about her self-esteem and the way in she is body positive. She was in several covers of fashion magazines over the years, setting the standard in the Plus Size world. On television, Fabiana has been in shows like A Grande Família and Linha Direta. She also became known for her catchphrases "This doesn't belong to you anymore!", "Get a grip, Carretel!" and "That's allowed!" as Gislaine. Later she joined Nova Escolinha - a tribute to the classic show Escolinha do Professor Raimundo - and hosted the program Se Joga, on Rede Globo, alongside Fernanda Gentil and Érico Brás. She made her debut in telenovelas in Gabriela (directed by Walcyr Carrasco), which was her first permanent job as an actress. In 2013 she worked with the director again in Amor à Vida. As for cinema, she won Best Documentary at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival for the feature O Caso Dionísio Diaz (directed by Chico Amorim). She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro for her performance in The Clown. In 2018 she finished shooting Lucicreide Goes to Mars, with locations at NASA, and Uma Pitada de Sorte. She played a protagonist in both films. She won the Palme d'Or in Italy and was appointed Ambassador of Peace in Brazil. She also ventured into a musical career in 2017, being featured in the first edition of the show PopStar, on TV Globo, alongside Laura Simões, her daughter, as a backing vocalist; she reached the semifinals of the competition. In literature, her first work was the children's book O Rapto do Galo, published by Editora Rocco in Brazil, Portugal, and the United States - through MAPS, an association that helps Portuguese-speaking foreigners keep in touch with their language, the book was selected by the PNLD program for elementary school students. In 2017, she released Gordelícias, a book of chronicles co-written by her, Cacau Protásio, Simone Gutierrez, and Mariana Xavier, and published by Editora Planeta. Recently, she signed a contract with Amazon to develop projects as an actress, hostess, creator, and producer.
