Nick Sakai is a New York-based actor, producer, and director whose work spans television, film, theatre, and new media.
Nick's stage career began when, still a student at CUNY Hunter, he landed a role in Stonewall-an off-Broadway production directed by Tina Landau and produced by En Garde Arts. That same year, a call from All My Children set his television career in motion. Since then, he has appeared in acclaimed series including High Maintenance, Orange Is the New Black, The Affair, Law & Order, and Third Watch, along with numerous independent films, commercials, and voiceover projects.
As a producer, Nick is drawn to bold, socially resonant stories. He first teamed with award-winning filmmaker Anya Meksin on The Professor-starring Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad) and Rick Peters (Dexter)-which won the CINE Golden Eagle Award and Best Action/Adventure Film at San Diego Comic-Con. He went on to produce Bluebirds, starring James Chen (The Walking Dead, FBI) and Ayesha Adamo, as well as projects exploring themes from PTSD (Going Home) to cultural satire (12, a parody of 24 that also premiered at Comic-Con).
Nick's directorial debut, Ms. Kiss, showcased his triple role as actor, producer, and director. His latest film, The Pardon, co-starring John Borras (The Many Saints of Newark), Francesca Shipsey (Servant, Blue Bloods), and Autumn Mirassou (Law & Order: Organized Crime), is making its way through the festival circuit and serves as the basis for a TV pilot in development.
He is represented by ATB Talent (Los Angeles/New York) and helms his production company, Nine Cats Productions, which is actively developing three feature films and one television pilot.
