IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Rudolf Günter Wagner was drafted in WW 2. Injured at the Maginot Line in France. After recuperation assigned by the Nazi regime to be an announcer for their Nazi Propaganda Network. In that position he was able to gather information for the "Resistance" along with colleague Hans Caspar which had to be smuggled out of the broadcasting station, passing two armed SS Guards. On July 20,1944, Rudolf G. Wagner's mission was to announce to the German people that Adolf Hitler had been assassinated. As history shows the attempt failed. Wagner was several times interrogated by the Gestapo, but was able to talk his way out of it. Three of their resistance colleagues were sentenced to death. Today, plaques are mounted on the wall of that broadcasting station honoring their courage. As for RIAS,"Radio in the American Sector" that was established in 1946, by the American military administration, broadcasting in the German language, Rudolf Günter Wagner was hired to be their Chief Correspondent Announcer. He became very famous with the German population! Wagner proposed to the U.S. administration to have military trucks equipped with loudspeakers to drive around the city to read the news because most of the time there was no electricity in the city of Berlin.
