"What used to feel like a far off destiny, was now just around the corner. It was time to be proactive about my future." Concourse Media & Winding Way Productions have revealed the official trailer for an indie film titled Everything to Me, formerly titled The Book of Jobs during its original festival premiere last year. A reference to the book the character writes. Everything to Me is a sharp, nostalgic coming-of-age comedy set in early-2000s Silicon Valley, inspired by the real story of filmmaker Kayci Lacob growing up in Silicon Valley in California. This premiered last year and will be out in US theaters starting in September. Telling the story of a girl raised in Northern California in the shadow of Steve Jobs' successful return to Apple, and his huge influence on her imagination, her aspirations and relationships. The film stars Abigail Donaghy as teen Claudia, Lola Flanery, Utkarsh Ambudkar,...

Filmmaker Kayci Lacob knew she wanted to capture everything about growing up in the heart of Silicon Valley during the early-2000s tech boom for her directorial debut. She also knew that her first film deserved to be in theaters, and so Lacob did what most established auteurs are still hesitant to do (other than Francis Ford Coppola with “Megalopolis”): She is self-distributing her debut “Everything to Me” for a theatrical run and “betting” on audiences to buy tickets.
“Everything to Me” isn’t without star power. “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Ponyboi,” and “You” actress Victoria Pedretti leads the film as Claudia, a woman reflecting on her career trajectory and life choices years after aspiring to be the next Steve Jobs as a Stanford freshman (Abigail Donaghy plays a younger version of the character). It's official: "The Devil Wears Prada," the beloved fashion comedy that first came out in 2006, is getting a sequel. So what do we need to know?
I'll be honest and say that, as of this writing, the details about this sequel are somewhat vague. The original was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name, which the author says was itself based on her own personal experiences working underneath magazine maven Anna Wintour at Vogue. In 2013, Weisberger released a sequel titled "Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns," which sees the book's version of Andrea "Andy" Sachs reunite with Miranda Priestly years after working as her second assistant at the fictional publication Runway. What we do know about "The Devil Wears Prada 2," though, is that it's not set to follow the same plot as Weisberger's literary sequel.
It's not entirely surprising that we're getting a second "The Devil Wears Prada" film,...

All good stories must come to an end. Peacock has trimmed its original programming, canceling Based on a True Story after two seasons.
Per Deadline, despite earning largely positive reviews from critics, Based on a True Story will not return for a third season on Peacock. Created by Craig Rosenberg, the dark comedy thriller series is a satire of the true crime genre with elements loosely inspired by true events. Both seasons follow married couple Ava and Nathan Bartlett, played by Cuoco and Chris Messina respectively, as they capitalize on America's growing obsession with true crime by launching a podcast with serial killer Matt Pierce (Tom Bateman). The second, and now final, season of eight episodes was released in its entirety on Peacock back in November 2024.

Clipped, a six-part FX limited series, features a strong ensemble cast but falls short in delivering a compelling narrative. The series focuses on the 2013-2014 Los Angeles Clippers controversy, with a blend of fact and fiction that leaves the story feeling incomplete and lacking emotional investment. Clipped regurgitates the shocking headlines from the scandal but fails to add any new insights or depth, making it a disappointing watch despite its relevant themes.
The six-part FX limited series Clipped takes many shots but hardly scores. Featuring a strong ensemble led by Laurence Fishburne, Jacki Weaver, and Ed O'Neill, Clipped had a talented roster that, similar to the 2013-2014 Los Angeles Clippers team chronicled in the series, had more potential than its final result would imply. While the star of the show is a completely transformed O'Neill as the abhorrent Donald Sterling, whose leaked racist comments resulted in a lifetime ban from the NBA,...

Equal time rules do not, in fact, apply to slightly fictionalized treatments of the real-life trials and tribulations of professional basketball teams, but for at least an hour it’s hard to shake the feeling that FX/Hulu’s six-parter Clipped exists as a make-good for the surplus of programming dedicated to the Lakers.
In terms of tone and style, that first episode of Clipped plays like the scrappy and far less enjoyable and successful younger brother to HBO’s Winning Time, an apt parallel for the relationship between the Clippers and the Lakers.
This sells Clipped a bit short. I watched the pilot twice, separated by several months. The first time, I thought it was a mess, more cartoonish and broad than it had any reason to be. The second time, once I’d gotten all the comparisons to other shows out of my system — once I’d stopped...

HBO had the Lakers, now FX has the Clippers. Will the series’ fates differ (as the real-life teams’ have), or will “Clipped” face the same quick, quiet end as “Winning Time”? We’ll find out this June, when FX’s latest ripped-from-the-headlines adaptation premieres exclusively on Hulu. The trailer was released Thursday, April 25 — just under six weeks prior to the premiere — and now you can watch the first footage below.
Set in 2013, the six-episode limited series stars Ed O’Neill as L.A. Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling and Laurence Fishburne as the team’s head coach, Doc Rivers. Formerly with the Boston Celtics (who won an NBA title in 2008), Rivers had just joined the Clippers when the owner’s racist comments went public, sending the organization into a tailspin and Sterling into a power struggle with Rivers, players, and the NBA at large. Not every successful TV show needs a spinoff – sometimes it's best to let a great show stand alone. Mad Men, The Wire, and Lost all resisted the urge for spinoffs, allowing their original stories to shine. The Americans and The Leftovers also chose to end without spinoffs, keeping their complete narratives intact.
Whenever a hit television show came to an end it was never long before a spinoff or follow-up was announced, but in some rare cases, there have been instances where great shows have been allowed to remain just that without any subsequent media. For every successful spinoff, like Frasier or Better Call Saul, there were always ten more disappointments, like Joey or After Mash, that viewers would rather just forget. That’s why it was always such a refreshing change of pace when series creators just let their show exist without the need to turn it into a sprawling extended universe.

TV characters can evolve drastically over time, but some shows keep them stagnant for prolonged runs. Rapid character growth can lead to stale storylines, while gradual change can be more impactful. Not all character development is positive, but even negative growth can make characters more compelling.
TV characters don't have to change so much, but some shows evolve their characters beyond all recognition. Unlike film, TV is a medium which isn't inherently focused on change. Because shows are often created with the goal of running interminably, it doesn't help the writers if the characters resolve their various issues too soon. Shows can quickly become stale if a character overcomes their fatal flaw, because there isn't a natural progression for their next steps. However, this is just one method of constructing a TV show, and some shows tell overarching stories about characters slowly growing.

TV characters can't all get equal attention, resulting in untapped potential for some. Supporting characters with brilliant performances can be more compelling than the main characters. Some TV characters could have had bigger roles and added depth to their respective shows.
TV shows which juggle a lot of characters can't give them all equal attention, and this means that sometimes a great character fails to live up to their potential. Difficult decisions often have to be made with long-running TV shows, so some characters are cut down in their prime before their story fully develops. Sometimes this is due to practical concerns with the actors, but most frequently it's a conscious decision to sideline supporting characters in favor of a show's stars. Unfortunately, this leaves a lot of characters with untapped potential.

Betty Draper was not as bad as her ex-husband, Don, yet she faced harsh judgment for her behavior in Mad Men. Elena Gilbert faced hate in The Vampire Diaries mostly because of the love triangle, despite her kind nature and difficult experiences. Karen Filippelli in The Office received undeserved hate simply because she wasn't the favored romantic pairing, showing unfair judgment in fans' eyes.
There are many complex characters out there, and some of them rightfully get hate, yet some female TV characters who have been long-hated don't fit into that category. Drawing strong reactions from the audience proves the actors, the writers, and the directors did their job well, whether with universally loved or despite characters. However, certain female TV characters tend to receive flak above and beyond what is fair, even if they do make some questionable choices.

Jon Hamm is open to the possibility of reprising his role as Don Draper in Mad Men but expresses doubt that revisiting the character may be too much after the satisfying ending of the series. Hamm is currently involved in various other projects, including a lead role in Fargo season 5 and a major supporting role in The Morning Show season 3. While there is nostalgia for Hamm's portrayal of Draper, the risk of a revival is high and may not be necessary.
Mad Men actor Jon Hamm has an intriguing response when asked if he'd be open to reprising the role of Don Draper. Hamm is returning to television in a big way, with a leading role in one high-profile series, Fargo, and a major supporting role in another, The Morning Show. That's in addition to his involvement in other upcoming projects, such as the Mean Girls musical. It's a welcome presence,...

Lane Pryce's death in Mad Men was foreshadowed in the show's fifth season, when he made a risky decision to forge Don Draper's signature on a check. Lane's suicide was driven by humiliation and a sense of betrayal after his embezzlement was discovered by Bert Cooper. His decision to take his own life was a tragic and shocking moment in the series. Actor Jared Harris, who played Lane Pryce, was sad to leave the show but appreciated the impactful storyline given to his character. The portrayal of Lane's death was seen as an act of revenge and a passive-aggressive message to his former colleagues.
The Lane Pryce death in Mad Men was one of the show's saddest moments, but it was subtly foreshadowed at the beginning of season 5. Lane was introduced in Mad Men season 3 as Sterling Cooper's new financial chief when the Madison Avenue advertising agency was bought by the British film,...

One of the most acclaimed movies of the year is being turned into a miniseries by AMC. For better or worse, "BlackBerry," which was released in theaters back in May, is going to be repurposed as a three-episode TV show that will air on the cable network next month across three nights. It will also be streaming on AMC+. While this opens the movie up to a larger audience, it's going to be presented in a way that was not originally intended, making this something of a bittersweet situation. More on that in a second. For now, let's get into the specifics.
Billed as a "special television event," the miniseries version of director Matt Johnson's "BlackBerry" includes 16 minutes of new footage. It will air in three parts on November 13, 14, and 15 on AMC, with all three episodes available on AMC+ on November 13. Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks,...
