In 2016 she was nominated for an Academy Award for contributing the song "Manta Ray" to the environmental documentary "Racing Extinction". She chose not to attend the awards when, after a month of uncertainty about whether she would be performing at the ceremony, she read in the newspaper that she had been "cut" due to "time constraints", when in fact she had never been asked to perform. I think back to a time before computers and cell phones, and it was a more creative time. For all the convenience involved in digital technology, I don't see what it's done other than helped create a monoculture and what use is that?
