While there are several classic films dedicated to the Halloween and Christmas holidays, those set during Thanksgiving are few and far between. Enter Jordan Weiss’ and Dan Brier’s Sweethearts starring Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga, a hilarious holiday rom com that arrived on Max Nov. 28.

The film follows Jamie (Shipka) and Ben (Hiraga) as they realize, in their first semester of college, that they need to break up with their high school sweethearts Simon (Charlie Hall) and Claire (Ava DeMary) respectively because the relationships are holding them back. Their best friend Palmer (Caleb Hearon) offers to host a small soiré the night before Thanksgiving where they plan to break the news, but chaos ensues as a night of parties, absinthe, drugs and more combine to create a perfect storm of events.

NBC‘s inaugural season of American Song Contest came to a close on Monday, May 9. And in the final, Tulsa, Oklahoma native and K-Pop star AleXa reigned supreme. The Grand Finale of “American Song Contest” will air Monday, May 9 on NBC, with Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson serving as hosts and executive producers. Unlike all previous weeks, this time around the voting is opening 24 hours in advance in order to give people in all time zones adequate time to vote for their favorites. The participant who receives the most support from America will be awarded the title of Best Original Song at the end of Monday’s two-hour finale. NBC has confirmed the identities of the first 11 semi-finalists who will take the stage during the sixth episode of “American Song Contest.” Michigan’s Ada Leann, the youngest in the competition, and Kentucky’s Jordan Smith, the former “The Voice” winner, are just two of the acts on deck for the Monday, April 25 episode, which airs live from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The five contestants from this group who receive enough votes from the national jury and the at-home viewers will advance to the Grand Finale.

Monday night on “American Song Contest,” Jewel was eliminated after failing to earn enough votes from the viewers and the national jury. The four-time Grammy nominee and recent “The Masked Singer” winner performed her uplifting original song “The Story” last week on NBC’s reality TV show, but it failed to connect with viewers. Heads up: even though she’s saying goodbye for now, Jewel still has a shot of returning to the program as a wildcard. How does it work?

As revealed in earlier weeks, there will be two “redemption” artists invited back to the show during the Semi-Finals round. “Show ’em love by streaming their music,” host Snoop Dogg said last week, implying the two eliminated acts who earn the most downloads will be the ones that return.

Jewel is in good company. One week ago, Macy Gray was eliminated from “American Song Contest” following her performance of her original tune “Every Night.

“American Song Contest” is live once again on April 11 with episode 4. This round-robin tournament features representatives from each of the 50 states, five US territories and the District of Columbia, all of whom are hoping to be the ones that perform the best original song in America.

Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg host this reality series modelled on the Eurovision Song Contest. They will kick off this fourth qualifier with the big reveal of which three contenders from Week 3 have earned enough votes from viewers and jurists to make it through to the semi-final. They will join Tennessee’s Tyler Braden who won over the national jury with the song “Seventeen.”
