The Challenge: Battle of the Eras is in the books with co-champions Jenny West and Rachel Robinson for the women, alongside Jordan Wiseley for the men.
However, many fans believe a significant twist ruined things for Season 40 and how the final standings went.
Count Johnny Bananas among them, as his third-place finish doesn’t seem to sit well with him due to the Karma Vote.
That twist allowed eliminated castmates to assign scores on a scale of one to five to all of the remaining competitors. A five was the best score possible, while a one was the worst.
Production and Tj Lavin indicated that the eliminated cast members gave points based on how they felt that particular castmate treated them and others.
However, some of these scores may have been based on ill will because that castmate sent them into elimination during the season. Some castmates may have assigned...

Season 40 cast members assembled in Amsterdam, with the first part of the reunion airing on Wednesday night.
All finalists attended the event, including the women’s winners, Rachel and Jenny West, and third-place competitor Michele Fitzgerald.
Michele’s showmance was also present, and they provided an update on their status after filming The Challenge.

The past year featured many high points for Emanuel Neagu, who claimed his first-ever win in his second season of The Challenge and discovered his soulmate.
After showing dominance throughout most of his debut on Ride or Dies, the Survivor Romania star avoided eliminations throughout Battle For a New Champion and then defeated his opponents in the final.
While that was a significant victory for Emanuel, fans of The Challenge backed runner-up Nurys Mateo due to her enduring multiple eliminations to reach the final.
The backlash against Emanuel spilled from online to podcasts, including Zach Nichols calling out the Season 39 winner for “cheating.”

Love Island USA season 3 culminated with the surprise couple of Korey Gandy and Olivia Kaiser winning the $100,000 prize despite remaining friends for a large portion of the competition. It was obvious the pair had a contrived romance meant for TV only, which is why their split a few months after the show concluded came as unsurprising. Many fans were left hoping the Love Island USA season 5 cast would have more meaningful relationships.
Now that several years have passed since Love Island USA season 3 ended, audiences are left to wonder how superficial some of the season’s relationships were. Like most reality TV, drama and romantic involvement were amped up to amass the most screen time for each individual. After the renewed interest catalyzed by Love Island USA season 5, there is curiosity surrounding what Korey, Olivia, Kyra, Will, Bailey, Jeremy, Alanna, and Charlie are doing with their personal and professional lives...

Zach Nichols called out former castmate Johnny Bananas with recent criticisms about how he plays The Challenge.
Zach and Bananas last appeared as castmates during the War of the Worlds 2 season, where Bananas was an early elimination due to Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore’s votes.

Nurys Mateo fired back at her castmate after she made claims involving “spoiler” pages and “leaked” details about The Challenge Season 40.
Those claims arrived from two-time Challenge champion Laurel Stucky, who called out “spoiler” and tea pages for inaccurate information they had leaked.
One of Laurel’s messages gave an example without any specifics, claiming that Nurys “leaked” something about Season 40 to a spoiler page that wasn’t true.
Laurel mentioned after contacting the page that they apologized for posting the inaccurate information.
However, it’s unclear what that spoiler was since Laurel’s social media post didn’t mention it.
Nurys, who appeared on just the first two episodes of Season 40, has now responded after seeing Laurel mentioning her in the message.
Nurys calls out Laurel after Season 40 ‘spoiler’
On Tuesday, Nurys responded to Laurel’s initial claim that she leaked something “untrue to an acct” about Season 40, which they later “apologized for posting.

In Season 40’s recent episode, Olivia described the trio’s mutual interests in shopping, designer items, and expensive vacations.
Johnny Bananas’ crew, Bananas Angels, also appeared in the recent episode during Jordan, Michele, and Olivia’s discussion about trying to cut the head off the snake.

Things got emotional for The Challenge star Michele Walker when she read the note Devin Walker left for her on Battle of the Eras.
The two castmates experienced sparks during Season 40, leading to a showmance that continued during filming.
However, during a recent episode, Devin became one of Era 3’s targets with his Ride or Dies partner, Tori Deal.
The daily challenge winner, Rachel Robinson, chose to pit them against Era 4’s Kyland Young and Kaycee Clark.
Ultimately, Tori defeated her friend and ally Kaycee, while Devin couldn’t get it together during the elimination event and lost to Kyland.
When his time on Battle of the Eras ended, his showmance with Michele seemed to end, but he left her a special note about the future.

Horacio Gutierrez exited his third MTV season, Battle of the Eras, earlier than anticipated.
Horacio saw his girlfriend ousted from the game after the opening Eras Invitational, as she drew a Hall Brawl against former rival Olivia Kaiser.
With few allies left after losing Nurys, Horacio still attempted to compete to the best of his abilities. However, a surprising elimination result arrived as he lost to Derrick Kosinski.
It generated much buzz and debate online, including remarks from Nurys and Horacio about how things went.
As fans continued to call out The Challenge, it ultimately prompted the show’s producers to have a Zoom video call so that Horacio and Derrick could see everything as it happened.
Horacio admitted that he “missed” an essential rule in the event and that Derrick deserved the win. Recently, Nurys spoke about the situation after she’d previously defended Horacio and slammed the show’s production.

The Challenge has unveiled more unreleased video footage from Season 40, featuring another heated altercation among castmates.
In a previous clip that the show released on social media, fans saw the ferocious “bus fight” between Chris “Ct” Tamburello and Theo Campbell.
A new clip recently surfaced of Devin Walker and Michele Fitzgerald arguing in The Challenge house, his Battle of the Eras showmance.
The incident occurred in The Challenge 40, Episode 5 after Johnny Bananas stirred things up by suggesting to Michele that she needed to keep her guard up with Devin, as it could be part of his gameplay.
Devin wasn’t happy when he heard this from Michele in the episode, and viewers saw him confront Bananas about it.
However, the new clip shows Devin confronting Michele about what she initially told him and others intervening to try to calm things down.

Theo Campbell reacted to the recently released footage of him and castmate Chris “Ct” Tamburello getting into a heated altercation during The Challenge Season 40.
The incident involved a nighttime bus trip the cast took during the Battle of the Eras filming, presumably after they went to a bar or club, as alcohol was said to be involved.
In the deleted scene video released by The Challenge last week, Theo puts his feet on the seat in front of him to gain extra leg space.
According to castmates, Ct wouldn’t have it during that trip, and a shouting match started between them. Castmate Johnny Bananas indicated alcohol was involved during his confessional interview, which Theo has reiterated in recent remarks.
As Theo and Ct continued yelling, others got involved to prevent things from escalating to a physical altercation.

The Challenge star Zach Nichols explained why he felt bad for Horacio Gutierrez after watching how things went on Battle of the Eras.
Viewers saw host Tj Lavin announce the Eras Invitational, where competitors who finished last in the opening challenge, automatically went to elimination.
Unfortunately, Nurys Mateo had a subpar performance, sending her from the Era 4 team to The Arena.
During deliberation, she called out her rival, Olivia Kaiser, and the Era 4 daily challenge winners, Horacio and Michele Fitzgerald, granted Nurys’ request.
Unfortunately, Nurys didn’t get an elimination that benefited her, as she went into Hall Brawl against Olivia.
While Nurys gave it a decent effort, she was outsized and outmatched by Olivia, who ousted her from Season 40 early as Horacio watched.

Nurys Mateo nearly didn’t return to compete on The Challenge: Battle of the Eras following a rough Season 39.
In Battle For a New Champion, she found herself in challenging circumstances due to her relationship with her boyfriend, Horacio Gutierrez, which caused friction with potential allies.
That led to a surprising vote situation from someone she considered her friend and multiple elimination appearances for Nurys just before the final.
She defied the odds to win two eliminations, sending four competitors home, to reach her first final on The Challenge.
The drama and physical exhaustion of participating in Season 39 left Nurys with a sour taste regarding a return to Battle of the Eras.
However, she revealed why she decided to return for another season soon after filming the Battle for a New Champion reunion.

The Challenge’s Paulie Calafiore reveals scary injuries from Season 40 elimination: ‘It was serious’
On The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, Paulie Calafiore faced one of his rivals from a previous season, Theo Campbell.
Both competitors were part of the Era 4 team, but since Theo finished last in the daily challenge for the Eras Invitational, he called out Paulie as who he wanted to face in the elimination.
Horacio Gutierrez and Michele Fitzgerald were the team’s first-place winners, and they gave Theo what he requested.
While Paulie was eager to return to the show and received a physical elimination, it didn’t quite go how he’d hoped.
The Era 4 teammates battled in what many cast members and viewers call a classic headbanger, Hall Brawl.
Theo, taller and heavier than Paulie, was able to seize victory from his opponent in the event quickly. Unfortunately for Paulie, he was eliminated from the season and received rough post-elimination injuries that took weeks of recovery.

MTV's The Challenge has gathered alums from different eras of the hit reality show for its milestone 40th season of the reality competition series, called The Challenge: Battle of the Eras. However, a few contestants appeared to have unresolved feuds, including Nurys Mateo and Olivia Kaiser. While the 39th season featured both of them as close friends, it was revealed that their friendship went through a rough patch after the season concluded. But just as viewers expected the drama between them to escalate following their intense battle during the Hall Brawl, the friends-turned-enemies seem to have patched things up already.

Hall Brawl is back, and it’s claimed its first set of victims on The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras. On Wednesday’s (August 21) episode, almost half of the contestants across all four eras had to go into the arena to duke it out for the chance to stay in the castle. And while there were three other games in play — Pole Wrestle, Balls In, and Give Me Shelter — the group to draw the most fearsome elimination type was the one that’s probably the least familiar with that format: Era 4. From the youngest generation of vets, Theo Campbell and Nurys Mateo were automatically sent into the ring after they each placed last in the daily challenge, and things got pretty dramatic when it came to the vote-in. While Nurys hand-picked her opponent — opting for Olivia Kaiser, with whom she’d had some bad blood coming in — Paulie Calafiore...

The Challenge typically includes many traditions, including cast members running into the house to fight over which rooms they get and a celebratory toast to kick off each season.
Fans were likely surprised when Johnny Bananas, who was in the cast of Season 40, Battle of the Eras, didn’t give the toast he typically does when on the show.
Instead, returning MTV Og and two-time champion Rachel Robinson gave the toast and celebrated the women at the start of the epic new season.
Meanwhile, production filmed another toast that didn’t appear in the Battle of the Eras Launch Special or the premiere episode.
However, Bananas shared that footage, which he somehow obtained to reveal during the season.
He called it the “best 70 seconds of television to never make air” as it focused on his speech.

Johnny Bananas called out previous cast complaints about living conditions during MTV’s The Challenge: Battle of the Eras.
With Season 40, Bananas is on his 22nd season of the competition show, so he’s experienced various living conditions.
Among his rougher experiences on the show may have been MTV’s The Island and Total Madness seasons, both of which he won.
For his latest season, he’s one of 40 cast members competing for a $1 million prize, which involves not only daily challenges, eliminations, and the final but also coexisting with his 39 castmates.
Battle of the Eras was filmed in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and The Challenge house, which seemed like a castle, appeared in the Launch Special and premiere episode.
However, before any episodes aired, there were some mentions online or in interviews about disliking the conditions or treatment by production during filming.

Faysal “Fessy” Shafaat is among the notable absences from The Challenge: Battle of the Eras cast.
His absence is curious because he’s won more daily challenges and appeared in more seasons and finals than several other Era 4 team picks.
The male competitors chosen include former Big Brother stars Kyland Young, Paulie Calafiore, and Josh Martinez, along with Horacio Gutierrez and Theo Campbell.
While Paulie, Horacio, and Theo each appeared in at least one final, Fessy competed in three. However, Josh and Kyland have yet to reach a final.

Theo Campbell and Paulie Calafiore are also part of the crew.
In the first episode, host Tj Lavin unveiled a colossal twist: an early batch of eight eliminations, called the Era Invitational, would significantly reduce the cast.
Each squad would lose one man and one woman, based on the worst-performing competitors and whoever the daily challenge winners opted to send in against them.
That immediately set the stage for potential showdowns between the previously mentioned Era 4 stars.

Toward the end of the Season 40 premiere, the four Era teams deliberated about who would go into eliminations.

For The Challenge‘s big 4-0, the show has gathered alums from all different eras of the show and put them together for one big generational showdown. The trouble is, there’s some unfinished business between some of the challengers who are being mashed together into these mega-teams. While Tori Deal and Amanda Garcia won’t be making nice any time soon despite being on the same team for Era 3, the outlook is probably a bit brighter for Era 4’s Olivia Kaiser and Nurys Mateo, whose dustup is far more recent and less ingrained. Kaiser and Mateo came into the season at odds with one another thanks to what happened in Season 39, Battle for a New Champion, when Kaiser did not choose to protect Mateo, then her close friend, and instead played the house’s game. (Kaiser was not only friends with Mateo before that, but she was formerly a...

The Challenge will feature multi-time champions, fierce finalists, and seasoned veterans on its epic 40-person cast for Battle of the Eras.
Johnny Bananas is among the show’s biggest stars, so it’s only fitting he’ll be one of those 40 stars competing for a share of the $1 million prize.
He’ll face other top-notch competitors and longtime castmates, including Darrell Taylor, Derrick Kosinski, Mark Long, Ct Tamburello, and Jordan Wiseley.
The cast includes other notable MTV stars such as Amanda Garcia, Aneesa Ferriera, Cara Maria Sorbello, and Leroy Garrett.
However, more than 40 people appeared on The Challenge over its 39 seasons, and fans have already mentioned significant snubs.
Bananas recently revealed one castmate he wished was part of the cast because he felt their presence was missing.

While speaking to US Weekly, Bananas said he missed one specific castmate most during The Challenge: Battle of the Eras filming.

The Challenge continues to innovate and recreate the game that started on MTV years ago with a battle between The Real World and Road Rules.
An epic 40th season called Battle of the Eras will arrive on the network, featuring 40 cast members, including stars from all eras of the reality TV competition series.
It follows Battle For a New Champion and brings back some of the stars from that season, including Kyland Young, Nurys Mateo, and Horacio Gutierrez.
Horacio and Nurys, who have become The Challenge’s latest power couple, debuted on the unique Ride or Dies season but had different teammates.
While Nurys partnered with friend Nelson Thomas, Horacio entered with his friend Olivia Kaiser.
That particular season, featuring stars like Johnny Bananas, Aneesa Ferreira, Jordan Wiseley, and Tori Deal, has now received an award nomination.

Olivia Kaiser is back for her third season of MTV’s The Challenge, but this one might start with many of her castmates and viewers distrusting her.
After a recent promotional video for Season 40, aka Battle of the Eras, was released, many fans left critical feedback about the former Love Island star’s remarks.
Many commenters reacted to Olivia’s remarks about her situation with Nurys Mateo and Horacio Gutierrez.
They all first appeared in MTV’s Season 38, Ride or Dies, and then returned in Season 39, Battle For a New Champion, and while they seemed on the same page at the start of the season, things changed.
Ultimately, Olivia starred in a “betrayal” storyline in which she didn’t save her friends Nurys and Horacio but helped out an alliance in the game.

Fans of The Challenge seemed surprised to see Paulie Calafiore getting along with his rival castmate while at a major event.
During his several seasons of MTV’s competition series, viewers have seen Paulie in heated altercations and feuds with several castmates, including Theo Campbell, Josh Martinez, and Johnny Bananas.
During War of the Worlds 2, Paulie and his girlfriend Cara Maria Sorbello seemed unpopular with castmates due to their gameplay, which included targeting those who weren’t working to help them reach the final.
Among their biggest targets during the season was another power couple: Tori Deal and Jordan Wiseley.
However, Jordan and Tori overcame the odds to win eliminations and reach the final.
Based on Tori and Cara’s feud, viewers may have thought Paulie and Jordan weren’t amicable off the show, but that looks inaccurate now.
